“Nice place but too much smoke and no swimming pool”
Reviewed September 7, 2011

Overall, the Nugget is a decent place to stay considering that Pahrump is pretty limited. It is a lot nicer than the Saddle West, and comparable to the Best Western.

The rooms are clean, but the layout was cramped and uncomfortable for two people. There were 3 small drawers and a very small closet area for clothing, so we had to use our suitcases for dressers. No full length mirror. There was a mirror above the sink in the bathroom, but the lighting was so dim, it was hard to apply makeup. I wish they would have put the sink and vanity outside of the bathroom instead of next to the toilet. It would make it a lot more functional for two people! Housekeepers were friendly and did a good job.

Now to dining and entertainment: They have a bowling alley, which was fun. Buffet was OK. The sandwich shop was convenient and good. The steakhouse is very good. However, there is so much cigarette smoke in the casino, it is unbearable, and the smoke permeates into the restaurants, hallways, and even the non-smoking rooms. The casino is nice (other than the smoke) and has a good selection of machines and tables. Dealers are very friendly and attentive. However, the drink service while you are gambling leaves much to be desired. You can be at a craps table for an hour before you get a drink. They do have a very good band that plays on weekends.

The biggest drawback is that they do not have a swimming pool or any type of grounds area whatsoever. I really do not understand why someone would build a hotel in the middle of the desert and not put in a pool! At least the other two hotels in town have pools and nice outdoor areas to sit and relax and get away from the smoke.

Stayed here last weekend. Very comfortable room. King sized bed w/ lots of pillows. Quiet and clean, which I look for in lodging. Casino is rather small but large enough for this community. Plenty of machines, several tables and a sports book. It has a buffet room, restaurant and coffee shop. Don't overlook this property if you want a break from Las Vegas!

When reading the reviews here for Pahrump, we almost decided to try to get back to Vegas instead of stay here. We risked it though, and ended up staying an extra night!

The Nugget was cheap, very very nice, large casino, extremely friendly staff, very clean and nice rooms - even nicer than some hotels we stayed in in Vegas. The food was excellent - we stayed in for all meals and to gamble. There is great high speed internet for free and lots of parking. Terrible's casino is also right across the street and is large - for more meal and gambling options.

Would highly recommend it during a road trip through this area - we were coming from Zion/Grand Canyon/Painted Desert and going to Death Valley, and we were tired - this was such a treat and a great place to stay, we barely even left the hotel.

I didn't stay at the hotel, but I ate at their buffet. It wasn't bad, per se but I wouldn't call it good either. Other than the prime rib (that was good) everything tasted bland and mass produced - kind of like gas station food. The cigarette smoke from the rest of the casino didn't travel all the way down to the food but it did linger near the front, so if you go, make sure to get a table as far forward as possible.

Too bad this hotel allows smoking in the casino. It permeates up to the second floor, which is supposed to be non-smoking. We tried to eat in the coffee shop twice and both times the smoke pouring in from the casino ruins the mediocre food. Everyone of our group had sinus problems, allergy problems etc. the entire time we stayed.
The only respite comes in the bowling alley. For some reason it seems to be non-smoking. It is a nice alley complete with a pro shop and snack bar.
The rooms are very nice and well kept. I would stay here anytime if the place would get rid of the smokers.
