The first thing I noticed, and inhaled when there was the salad bar. Let me emphasize the word salad. There were cold shrimp there, as is usual. But I don't eat cold shrimp on a buffet line.
I was raised on the Chesapeake Bay, with Old Bay seasoning on seafood. Most shrimp on buffet lines have no seasoning on them, so why even bother peeling them?!
We arrived just as the buffet was opening, so everything was fresh. And even though some things didn't suit our fancy (we tried a lot, didn't finish a few), there was gobs of food for us to chose from.
And isn't that why we do buffets in the first place? Lots of food, lots to choose from, and value for the money?
The Cannery Row Buffet fits all three of those qualifications, rather nicely.
