We attend LV at least once or twice each year and try to get some golf in also. This time around we decided to leave LV for a couple of days and headed to St.George for a round then stopped in Mesquite on the way back.
I have played TROON managed courses before and am usually impressed. Not this one......BUT I'm not sure if it was because it is very new ; it could be the time of year which probably has something to do with it , etc., ??
Anyway we played Coral Canyon in St.George the day before which was absolutely awesome to say the least. We arrived at Conestoga to find an ATCO trailor beind temporarily used for the club house / pro shop. Hey not a big deal as we came to golf and it is a new place so of course they have to build it.
The starter was a young fella whom just did not get you excited to be there.......no emotion.
So, either the fairways were still getting mature because of how new the place was and/or doing the regular seasonal maintenance on them. I am not a long ball hitter and on the first few holes I drove up on the twosome ahead of us AND so did my wife. The fairways were like rock - - The ball would roll forever. Good luck in trying to get any proper fairway shots or chips --- It was like hitting off of pavement or gravel !!!
I was very dissapointed to say the least....They simply should just close the course down for the maintenance. Why do they want to get a bad name when being new. Who knows - maybe the course will be absolutely awesome once matured and the growing pains ironed out.......but right now I definately won't be back nor would I recommend it plus I will second guess my TROON choices going forward.
By the time we got to the 16th hole it was backed up - no marshal around - so we finally just drove back to the trailer and left back for LV.
A waste of time & money it was !
