Ethan and I got a pet room for $39 and that included all fees and taxes. However, you do need $100 refundable cash deposit and there was not the least hassle in getting it back. The lady that did my reservations was super nice and both ladies at the front desk were friendly and talkative. PLUS, I got to check in at 10:00 in the morning.
The room was ground floor and big. It is old! However, other than the carpet needing a cleaning, it was well kept and clean. DO not got to Harrahs where you have a pay a fee to have the dog stay even though the pet gets a treat or two and can be walked through the casino on the way outside. Plus, Harrahs is so far off the Laughlin strip and away from everything it is not worth the extra cost to stay there as you will not want to go anywhere else.

Get into Bullhead across the river and find the Panda China restaurant. Very good.

Room Tip: Weekdays are cheaper. Ask for ground floor.

Pioneer Hotel is in a great location in Laughlin. Right on the river and within walking distance of other casinos and the mall. Our housekeeper, Kim, was fantastic. Very knowledgeable about the town and so very helpful. She made our stay! The rooms are comfortable and very clean. The casino is small but has everything you need. The staff was fantastic. The Roulette dealer took the time to give me lessons when there was only my family at the table. Such fun. The hotel is great but the staff make it fabulous. Thank you KIM!

Room Tip: The river rooms are wonderful.

After years of going to Vegas and Reno for a takeoff point for EDR to Mexico on our bikes we decided to try Laughlin. Chose the Pioneer and we will again next year. While we were on our trip my wife stayed at the hotel for 5 days on her own so this is kind of her review. She did mos of her gambling in the hotel casino and by the time we got back she was on a firstname basis with a lot of the staff. We found the food and drinks very reasonable. We left 2 trucks with trailers in the parking lot when departed on our ride and the wife told me that security routinely checked them for us. All in all for the money it was a pretty good stay. We plan to use the Pioneer as a base again next year. If you want glitz, glamore and high prices, stay in Vegas, if not give the Pioneer and Laughlin a try!

The Pioneer Hotel and Gambling Hall is the most enjoyable destination that we have ever known! Have been going there on an almost weekly basis for about 20 years or so. Never
had anything but good experience throughout these many years. Have been to many others
in the past, but the Pioneer Hotel and Gambling Hall has been our only destination for a long,
long time. Thanks to the many people that are dedicated and committed to making it the
Friendliest House on the River. But, not only that, but to us the Happiest House on the
Planet!!!!!!!!!

A stay at the Pioneer has a timeless quality to it. Granted, there are subtle differences; Keno Runners no longer make their rounds through the dining room, and many of the room furnishings are showing their age. However, the mighty Colorado still looms large, a lovely backdrop that softens the gentle eroisions of time flowing onward - the Riverview Rooms are well worth the additional charge if you appreciate a view.

One of the big draws for our family is their pet-friendly rooms. The first time we stayed in one it contained a tile floor - excellent idea! However, during our most recent trip, we discovered the Pioneer has "doubled" the number of pet-friendly rooms available. Unfortunately, the ones in which we stayed had carpets that were stained and dirty - hopefully, they will be upgraded to tile as well.

The Pioneer's restrant (in an age where fast-food chains are fast encroaching casino turf) is another perk from a bygone era...reasonably priced food...decent buffet.

Not being much of a gambler, I especially appreciate the Riverwalk that meanders both directions from the Pioneer. There is a small private strip of sandy beach directly in front of the Riverview Rooms - a peaceful spot that is a nice foil to the hustle-n-bustle of the casino.

This is probably one of the better Hotels in Laughlin, NV. After a bad night of difficult breathing of a detergently cleaning smell at the Don Laughlin's Riverside Hotel and Casino, we checked into the Pioneer for the remainder of our planned stay in Laughlin. They have nice rooms ranging from $25 to $55 a night. The wing by the river offers a very nice view of the Colorado River,a grassy area in front of your Hotel door, a river walk flanked by rows of old style lamp posts. There is even walking access down to the river's banks as well. This is not a tower hotel. It is three stories with shared outside walkways and is more spread out. This hotel was the biggest surprise in Laughlin. We had stayed in several Laughlin Hotels over the last 8 years. The Tropicana Laughlin, Don Laughlin Riverside Hotel and Casino and the Aquarius Hotel and Casino, when it used to be called the Flamingo. The decor is of the Old West Victorian style. The rooms are in the old west frontier hotel motif, with colorful wallpaper of roses and with wood furnishings. The beds were nice and comfortable. The staff all very polite and courteous and the pool area was also a very nice surprise being well apportioned. The restaurants seemed empty all the time despite favorable reviews for Granny's, so we ate at the neighboring Colorado Belle Hotel and Casino where in the morning they had an all you can eat breakfast bar for $3.99 (you can't beat that) and they have an area where you can have an omelet made to order. I would have given the Pioneer & Gambling Hall a much higher rating. The reason why I didn't, was that it felt as if (like most of the Laughlin Hotels) it needed to be renovated and that all the rooms should have been the $25 to $35 price instead of the $55 for the waterfront as the rooms were pretty much the same and there was availability at the time. The hotel has a wonderful western charm to it like the squeaky wooden walk way which makes this Hotel appealing. One uncomfortable moment was a security guard who bothered my partner of 12 years and I while we were enjoying the view of the river with our pets, telling us pets we not allowed. They do allow pets, plus, we had made ADA arrangements with the front desk. We stated such to the guard making his rounds, and we could hear him as he continued his rounds calling in our room number to confirm with to the front desk saying "they have pets, they have pets.” The security guard didn't even acknowledge when told it was OK or offer an apology. They do allow pets and they also permit ADA animals. This property because of it's value, friendliness and charm as well as it's special stretch of riverwalk, has the greatest potential of Laughlin hotels to deserve rising to and obtaining the TripAdvisor five circle rating. This hotel could be the best Hotel in Laughlin, it has everything going for it, it just needs a little bit of renovating, a security guard with some politeness and courtesy, a bustling buffet, a western ho down concert hall and bus loads of people. I'm not going to let a crotchety security guard give this hotel a bad rating. Having occasional security making rounds is in itself a plus. I highly recommend this hotel over any hotel in Laughlin, NV. The check in and check out staff were polite and courteous, the beds were very comfortable, they met the needs for ADA companion animal, the pool area was very nice and enjoyable, the Western decor was very Western and the price was just right for us. Highly recommended get away.

Room Tip: If you want to save money, pass on the waterfront and ask for the least expensive as the rooms are j...

I've just reviewed the outstanding Golden Nugget in Laughlin which takes top honours in my book for accommodation, dining and casino ambiance.

Having said that, no trip to this town would be complete without a breakfast buffet (Boarding House Restaurant) and some slottery-pokery at the Pioneer right next door. For a reasonable price (can't find my receipt but about $8) you can sit by the window, watch the mighty Colorado rushing by, soak up some country and western tunes and get some of the nicest service and freshest food to be had. The fruit, pastries, yoghurts, cream cheese and cherry pie (I had the last two on the same plate) are very tempting, but don't forget their omelettes, great corned beef hash and some very enjoyable biscuits and gravy.

It's mostly standard buffet fare but the atmosphere is so good, the food just tastes better somehow, plus you get left with playing dollars in your pocket. I love to banter with staff and the staff banter here is a cut above the norm. I love backchat with my bacon! Bit of sass with my sausages!

When you go out to play, you'll find the casino smaller and more intimate than average - and the better for it. The cocktail waitress therefore appears regularly and though we were too full to sip cokes, we appreciated the fact that we could have started the day's libations there and then.

We love the restaurant, the casino, the gift shop and the whole layout of this property. It has a charm that the other properties in town can only dream of matching.
