Our first trip to Laughlin -- on a chartered junket from Springfield, IL on a Thurs-Sun trip...
Overall, a pleasant stay...rooms/casino seemed clean, although they really do need to get a new air-exchange system in the casino. It IS a dated place, needing some overdue updating, but it is clean, the people pleasant. We were able to update from the North to the South tower to the river view for an extra $11/night. The rooms are in the process of being updated. Only bad thing about the rooms we can think of is the supplied soap (WE NEVER REALIZED LAVA MADE FACIAL/BATH SOAP !)
We used the water taxis to the max, going from once casino to another for a one time fee of $15. Other casinos really helped make the whole trip experience pleasant, as they provided a needed change of scenery/pace.
We rented a car and traveled the 1.5 hours to Vegas (and of course the obigatory Hoover dam side-trip)...what a nightmare on a Saturday! (BTW, they are ruining the strip, as they are constantly taking every available space to build new things, ruining the strip's looks, ambiance....LOL ) Don't consider Downtown as the home of derelicts any longer, as it is now better than the Strip -- more fun, more 'real' people).
Would we do this trip again? In a heartbeat, but next time will look for a Sun-Thurs trip.........More
