Avi Resort & Casino
Ranked #6 of 11 Hotels in Laughlin
Reviewed January 1, 2014

We chose to stay at the Avi versus other casino's in Laughlin due to the fact they had child care, and our daughter was only 2 at the time. The Kid's Quest was great. She loved it and had a blast, and kept begging us not to leave. The slots were the tightest I've ever seen at a casino, and we lost over 1000 dollars in about 30 minutes. However, we had fun playing blackjack and were able to stay even for a few hours. The food is cafeteria quality. The buffet had a ton of options, but it wasn't impressive by any means. We did enjoy the movie theater on site, and got to have a date night, which is a rare treat. The bar and food by the pool were closed, which was one of the main reasons we chose to go, so we were very disappointed about that, considering it was still in the 80's. Overall, the Avi was just average.

This would have been our first stay - our intro this "resort" on Wed. 27 Nov. On arrival there was no bellman to assist with the baggage -we later found out that this was shared by 2 persons on duty for valet parking - 1 fellow was busy messing in the parking lot the other in the booth watching people trying to tackle bags . after driving for 4 hrs and being at work we wanted to freshen up and use the Jacuzzi (we had been told 1 wk earlier was in working order and pool area had been closed for the last 2 wks of Oct. for we refurbishment checked) My spouse has a bad back so this is a must for us. The room had only 2 wash cloths and 2 hand towels - we had to call and get towels to the room( we found several other people had this problem also) . So we waited for that . We tried to get into the pool area and thank fully another guest let us in as our cards didn't work. They had a towel machine which we once again couldn't use ( the clerk never have us access keys for the pool and other areas). The Jacuzzi are had several lights out some near a bushy area and the timer on it was broken - we followed the instructions as did 2 other people after us, the water was lukewarm at best, the pool cold ( the kids didn't even want to go in). after all of this we went back to the room and my spouse called and spoke w/ Crystal ( as did I) needless to have she wasn't any help -we felt Crystal seemed to have no management power or skill- so we check out . We expected better then this - they only had 2 persons working the front desk and Rose was unable to get her terminal to work or 2 others as we had to wait to check out. We have tried to call and speak with all of these managers ,the CEO Mr Rubin - but he quite on Dec 2 and came in to get his check. Ms Guarion doesn't return calls , plus the comment cards - don't waste your time. To date no one has called us back, they are charging us 50 dollars for 2.5 hrs - and the use of 2 towels .......

This resort is great...clean spacious rooms, lots to do for the whole family, a quirky beach, lovely pools, great food and really awesome staff!!...oh, and a Casino. We were worried when we drove...and drove....to get to the facility, but well worth it! The golf course looks great too but no time for a round on a quick overnight stay

Easy check in. We accepted one of their offers. Fast check in, quick pick up of their special offers. Room was nice and ready when we arrived. Went to their cafe (feathers) for a late snack and morning breakfast. Service was friendly and fast. Breakfast was very good and the portions were large.

Again I like the use of a good swimming pool. The pool environment here is great but mostly for kids. On the adult side I found any number of cigar smoking loud drunks. I did not appreciate this. There is however a great beach area on the river itself that I might try next time. The buffet is simply excellent and very very reasonably priced and the dining room faces the lawn and river, a great place to sit, relax and eat! The deposit thing I see mentioned can be avoided, I think, by simply paying up in full, that is the way it is at Harrah's that charges $ 75, but I could be wrong. In any event it is a BAD policy
