“housekeeping personnel - quick service”
Reviewed January 7, 2011

The housekeeping personnel are courteous, responds quick and does a wonderful job in our room:
Anita, Ana, Elizabeth and Bruce - they provide service with a smile and always helpful
to ask if we need anything else other than what we requested for.
They deserve a FIVE STAR rate as far as me and my husband is concern.
Torpicana LV has done a great renovations and we will book for a main suite next time we visit Las Vegas

I visit Las Vegas twice a year and this was my first time at the Trop.

I enjoyed the hotel, the casino and Brad Garrett's comedy club. The room was spotless and quiet, the king size bed was very comfortable, it had a 42 inch plasma T.V. and in general everything was very good.

While not central-strip located, the Trop is still in a very good location, within close walking distance of MGM, New York, New York, Excalibur, Luxor, Mandalay Bay and (if you're in the mood for chicken wings) Hooters.

Getting back to the room, be aware that it's very basic; the furniture (except the bed) is very sixties-ish and the hotel in general is not very glitzy. If you want glitz stay elsewhere. But for the great rates the Trop offers these days, if you're more interested in reasonable prices than glitz, the Trop is for you. I will stay again.

We stayed at the Trop for a week in August, because we were getting married that week. The remodel was fabulous, the casino floor was still being updated but the changes looked great. The white hallway is gorgeous and we didn't mind walking down it to our room because it was so pretty. The colors and decor of the rooms are nice, the bathrooms are clean and modern. The beds in the rooms are extremely comfortable, the rooms themselves are beautiful. Only one small downfall is not having a fridge in the room. Its so hot in august and I had so many water bottles, it would nice to keep one cold in your room before you head out walking. The pool was awesome, clean, the waitstaff were very quick to serve and friendly, we spent almost every morning out there. We did want to float on the water with the blue floats they rent, but $15 is steep. $30 for me and my husband to float on the pool? I wish these would have been cheaper we really spent alot of time out there and wanted to float. The day before our wedding we happened to ride the elevator with some of management, after hearing us talk about our wedding, they sent chocolate covered strawberries to our room. We loved everything so much we are spending a week at the Trop Aug 2011 for our anniversary, and I cannot wait to come back! Nicole in guest services is a nice contact too, she answered many of my questions via email before our arrival.

We have been coming to the Tropicana for years, but due to certain circumstances, had not visited the property in over two years. There has been quite an improvement over our previous stay. The rooms have been updated to a nice modern fresh look and feel. Let's just say they are very spacious and comfortable. The flat screen tV's are big, the beds very comfortable and the bathrooms have been redone. The casino and restaurants have been updated with a modern look and feel. The variety of live shows and comedy is outstanding.

On the positive, the staff has obviously gone through some extensive customer service training because everyone could not have been more helpful and friendly. Our entire reservation had to be changed due to our flight being cancelled because of the blizzard in the east. Everyone we spoke with went out of their way to accomodate our ever changing travels needs. We especially like the fact that a doorman holds the heavy glass doors for everyone walking in and out - very nice touch.

The unfortunate part of the trip is that the renovations are still ongoing. Currently there are limited eating establishments,, so if you want a quick meal, we had to use the property accross the street for light meals. The buffet is very small, but good and has been incorporated into an existing restaurant where as it used to be on its own. Would love to see a large buffet on the property and maybe thats in the plans.

The sports betting parlor is a 20 foot long desk with no seating. We were told that a new parlor was being constructed and that would be first class. There is only one row of table games, so when the casino gets crowded, we were forced to visit other properties on the surrounding corner (Trop Blvd. & Strip) to play table games. The pit boss said that an expanded table area was on the way.

While the room was outstanding, there were some minor annoyances. The bathroom timer light switch was broke and the lock holding the suite window (yes the windows do open) was loose and our window kept rattling in the high winds. While these things are minor issues, a good quality review by the housekeeping staff before the next guest arrives could have caught these issues. My wife would have liked the room to have a fridge. You can rent one.

On one occasion, the housekeeping person knocked on our door at 9:00 AM. We told her we were leaving in 5 minutes. We came back at 3:00 PM and the room had not been done. So what was the point in knocking on the door at 9:00 AM?

A call to the housekeeping office and a housekeeper was at our door in 5 minutes and the room quickly and efficiently cleaned.

As I have been to almost every large property in Vegas, one recommendation I have for this property is that as improvements are made, that the ventilation and air handling systems are updated. The smoke in the gaming area is much worse than in other properties. Hopefully one day Vegas will go non smoking with a smoking area like the rest of the country.

I continue to recommend this property and believe it will be a great property when all of the improvements are finally completed. The pool has always been outstanding and it sounds like they are making improvements in that area as well.

We are locals in Las Vegas and could have stayed at any hotel, however, I did a lot of research on line and read about the new and improved Trop and let me say it is true. We had stayed in August for our anniversary and we stayed for 3 nights to celebrate the New Year. Great room, good food and the staff is friendly and willing to help with any questions. Want to put a big thank you out to Nicole for the upgrade the 1st time to a suite and a room with a view this time. Nicole you are the best a true asset to the Trop. We will be back again.

The rooms were nice and clean. All though we had to call for towels the first night as only 1 in the room, and no wash clothes left the next day I still consider the room a good value. If you are looking for a casino to play slots and have a few drinks, this is not the place to stay. We played at the bar machines for awhile and received free beer but once we left to play at other slot machines & returned for a beer, we were charged $12. I think I only seen 1 waitress for both sides of the casino. Maybe because we were there 28, 29 & left on the 30th of Dec, they had let all the waitress off in prep for NY Eve. If you are staying @ a hotel & you don't have staff to wait on customers, drinks should be at least half price at the bar not $6 for a bottle when you have to go get it.
Alos, there is no where inexpensive to eat in the hotel like there is other hotels.
If we go again, we will stay at Hooters where the waitress was there before you even got your beer finished.

This is the place to stay. Friendly staff, new and clean rooms, and most of all very quiet when your putting your head down for the night. NOTE: My flight was cancelled due to bad weather. I called the Trop and they took care of me for the night. They never tried upping the price. The staff (Wendy) showed sincerity in her voice as she took care of us for the night. All this was done during New Years Eve. The Trop could've easily asked for top dollar for their rooms but never did. Thank you Trops, (Wendy).
