“Great hotel and casino”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 31, 2013

I had a very nice stay at Tropicana. I had a little issue when I booked in as I had made two seperate bookings but Ladonna at the front desk was very helpful with contacting the travel agents for me.

The hotel was very bright and airy. My room was on the 8th floor overlooking the airport.

Very spacious with a great corner bath and big sink area. The bed was large and very comfortable. There was also a safe and a desk area.

The pool was very nice and the day club next door was great fun.

I used the spa and took advantage of their offer for 100 dollars worth of products on massages over a certain amount.

The casino was good and the blackjack tables were fun.

I would certainly return and stay again.

This place is super-ok. The casino is friendly and ok, the location is good but not the best (down the end/start of the strip, the rooms are ok and the resort area is good. The food in the in house restaurants is not the bests but really the food in Las Vegas was never what attracted me.
Overall good place to stay

Stayed for two nights in the middle of a week in July prior to attending a business trip. Since this is a DoubleTree hotel, stays here are eligible to earn Hilton Honors points. Also, you get vouchers for the yummy signature DoubleTree chocolate chip cookies at check-in!

The Tropicana had nice curb appeal - white towers looked modern and clean. Front entrance was gleeming white marble and sharp red carpet and art accents. Check-in was handled quickly and efficiently in the Hilton Honors line. I'm not a big casino, but I liked the look of this one - nice and bright, loved the tropical scent, and it was relatively smoke-free (could only smell smoke if someone near you was smoking).

My room was in the Club Tower, which is a pleasant 5 minute walk from the casino and the main entrance. I liked the Club Tower, as it was closer to the pool and spa/fitness center, and a bit removed from the noise of the strip. I enjoyed the walk, but if you don't want to walk, you'd be better off in the Paradise Tower, which is right above the entrance and casino.

Room was on the 12th floor, king bed room facing the airport (I think that all King rooms in Club Tower face the airport, while 2 Queen bed rooms face the strip). The rooms was a good size, with a nice decor. However, there was an odd odor of sewer gas that came from the bathroom - not too bad, but it seemed that they had some challenge with their sewage system. The smell would stop when I ran water down the tub drain, but it would return a few hours later.

The room was spotlessly clean and well taken care of by housekeeping. Lots of closet and drawer space. Large desk/work space and comfortable chairs for lounging and working. A/C controls and system worked well, and was quiet. I never heard any noise from other quests or from outside the hotel. Bed and linens were high quality and very comfortable. Only problems in the room were the sewer gas smell and the ceiling light fixture just inside the door was broken (just bulb hanging from the ceiling - likely the fixture was broken by a previous guest and they hadn't yet been able to replace it.)

Enjoyed meals in all of the resort restaurants - especially loved the Italian bistro Bacio - great food and service. Also enjoyed steak at Biscayne (can get discount coupons at the Tix4Tonite stands all along the strip). Nice breakfast buffet at the Beach Cafe.

Spent one whole day relaxing at the pool, which was very quite awesome - no problem finding a seat - I had to move a couple times to get away from people who were smoking. Fitness center was nice, with all standard equipment - overlooked the pool area.

Overall, I thought the Tropicana provided a nice LV Strip experience in a more manageable package - really enjoyed the overall atmosphere - bright and airy, without the overwhelming excess of some of the other resorts.

Room Tip: Club Tower is closer to pool and spa, but 5-7 minute walk from lobby/casino area. Paradise Tower is...

we enjoyed our stay here very much so. Simple place, no big deal, nicely done. Rooms were adequate and pool was great. Some great dining options here for sure. Very good service. The location is good it isa the end of the strip and a short cab ride or shuttle from the airport.

Be careful when booking a room in this hotel. We booked a Double Queen room for 3 people in November 2012 for a stay in July 2013. When we arrived they gave the room to someone else for no reason at all!!! We received an upgraded room to compensate the unconvenience but... it had only one bed so one of us had to sleep on the ground as no other rooms were available. A real disgrace! Never again in this hotel.

Room Tip: Just book another hotel. There are plenty enough in Las Vegas.

Though the Tropicana is an old name, the Tropicana, since taken over by Hilton is anything but old. We had a glorious time here and would highly recommend it. The pool are was AMAZING. Loved our stay.

We only were there for on night - it was a perfect stay. The rooms were clean and spacious with a perfect view to the strip, the air condition in the rooms was perfect - not too cold and very silent.Especially the pool area is very nice. Only thing to mention: you have to wait very long at the check in unless you have a Hilton Honors card.
