“Nice Room and Loved the Pool”
Reviewed July 27, 2013

Stayed in Room 1713 from July 20-23, 2013. Loved the pool. Grass area seemed to help cool things down and was not nearly as crowded as other pools we visited. Cocktails and food by the pool were served timely and were actually quite good. Swim up blackjack tables were a nice addition. Room was spacious and very clean. Had a king and a nice big bathroom. Check in was smooth as well as check out. We really don't care for the huge, megaresorts, so the Trop fit in very nice for us. Only down side is the walk, since we did not have a car and did not want to spring for a taxi, to other attractions on the strip. Great valuse as far as we are concerned. Would stay here again on our next trip.

For years we stayed at the Tropicana every time we came to Las Vegas. Then it slowly began to fall into disrepair. Having so many choices in Las Vegas, we then picked other hotels. We then saw that it had been renovated and decided to give it a try. We are extrememly glad we did. The first thing we noticed is how they renovated the front desk area. It is very modern and the changing colors behind the front desk gives you something to look at as you wait. The one thing we loved was the Delux PLUS rooms. They are corner rooms that have more space and it makes an incredible difference, at least for us. They are only about $20 more and worth the price. The new decor, with shutters on the windows, is very relaxing. They have taken out the carpet in the main traffic areas and replaced it with white marble. It is beautiful. There is always someone cleaning the walkways also. They have also classed up the walkways to the towers. They used to have kind of corny birds, and now there are small retail vendors along the way with, again, marble floors.

One of the main reasons we loved the Tropicana is the pool area. It is still the best in Las Vegas. It is smaller now because the took a portion of it and made it into a kind of private club. But it's still very nice and tropical. The only thing we don't like is that over the last two years they have added the number of cabanas. That would be OK, but in most pools they are on the outer parimeter. Tropican has them poolside and it blocks the view of the regular pool goers. I believe this is a mistake and sends the message that other people, by virtue of spending more, are the most important guests. That leaves a bad taste in my mouth.

The Bacio is a fabulous restaurant. The service, food and ambiance is great. It was started by Carla Pelligrino, but she is no longer associated with it. They said many of the chefs are the same and the food quality was the same as last year. A great splurge.

We have stayed there three times since the renovation and the only complaints I have are since the Hilton took it over. The first I mentioned, the priority placement of the pool cabana's. The other is how long it took to check in. We came on a Sunday, which I'm sure is always busy with people coming in who wanted to avoid the weekend. At one point there were only two receptionists open to check in "regular" clients and THREE for the Hilton Preferred clients. The line was literally all the way back to the hotel entrance. It took an hour to check in. It was ridiculous. Hopefully there was some kind of mistake there. This was the first time this has ever happened.

We go to the Laugh Factory on every visit. It has always been hilarious. The Mob Experience was very entertaining and there are always discounts, especially if you are staying there.Overall, we love the Tropicana.

Room Tip: The Delux PLUS rooms are well worth it.

We've always enjoyed the atmosphere and the friendliness of the staff. Very comfortable and relaxing rooms that we're always provided with. The parking facility provided easy access to the hotel and casino. We can truthfully say that we have never experienced an unpleasant stay in all the years we've stayed at the
Tropicana.

The Tropicana is one of the older hotel/casinos on the strip so we thought it would look and feel that way. We were pleasantly surprised with the lobby decoration and room functionality. It was a great value and we will be staying there again.

Trop was clean, convenient, and also offered some nice games and bars. Only complaints were the loud music from the pool during the day (needed to nap in the afternoon to stay out all night) and the lack of refrigerators in the rooms.

This is one of my least favorite hotels, especially since its a Hilton brand which I love.

Spend extra points for a city view room. Welllllll. Fine print specifies you see the city. In my case 2 hotels at the butt end of the strip. Can't see the actual strip just Excalibur and another. Ohhh and there is a giant advertisement on the building so there is a black mesh window covering that limits your view even more.

The casino was small, and very inactive in the evenings. Which is good and bad. Means people don't like to gamble here in the evening but also means its quiet.

Reminds me of the Hampton, which I like. But cost me way more in my point stay.

We will choose a different property next time.

First time in Vegas so wasn't sure what to expect. Pleasantly surprised at the size and quality of the room - large beds and bathroom with plenty of towels. The hotel has a casino which is one of the smaller one's compared to MGM etc, however you are on the main strip so everything is within walking distance. Great pool and outside area. Didn't eat in the hotel so no comment on food quality. Live entertainment/music most nights.

Check in fine - check out a bit slow as not enough staff.

No tea/coffee facilties or ridge in room.

Free valet parking on site.

Room Tip: Stayed in the Club Tower on the side that overlooked the strip - no obvious noise from outside so ok...
