While they have done extensive renovations to the exterior of the hotel the rooms are not quite as good as one would like. The furniture definitely shows signs of age, with chips on the arms of the chairs and lighting fixtures that are dated and dim. The biggest area of need is the bathroom. The water pressure was sporadic and the temperature inconsistent. There was a large threadbare/worn area on the bath towel. The staff was helpful and professional. The tower is a very long way from the entrance and check-in desk but the view of the Las Vegas Strip is worth the hike.

Room Tip: The tower rooms have a view of the Strip.

I paid extra for a City View Room in the Paradise Tower with 2 Queen Beds when I booked the room online and was put in the Club Tower with 1 King Bed facing the airport. I was never offered a reduced room rate until I asked for it. Also, the room reservation "request" policy needs to be changed. At least half the people waiting in line had the same issue of having booked one accommodation but then were stuck with lesser options. Half of my Friday was planned around getting our room switched to one like we had initially requested when we booked it. The fact that someone could book AND pay for a 2 Queen Room Strip View and then be stuck with a 1 King Smoking room facing the airport is the most absurd thing to think of when it comes to hospitality and guest satisfaction. This was the first and last time we will be staying at The Tropicana. Lastly... when there are over 100 people in line, try staffing your reservation desk with more than 3 employees.

Rooms and overall lobby/casino area were clean, bright and inviting. The pool is beautiful and the service there was excellent. We also enjoyed the wonderful breakfast buffet. Only had 24 hours in Vegas and everyone at the Tropicana made it a fun, relaxing experience. I would highly recommend it and can't wait to stay here again!

...if you gamble in the casino. Check in was fine. We ended up in the un-renovated Club tower. Rooms were tired and a bit scruffy, but perfectly adequate. Aircon worked (it was 115F outside). WiFi was good. Lack of fridge and kettle were irritating - $15/day for a fridge was insulting. Pools looked fine, and were quite busy with mainly kids in the free pools. The day club looked inviting but was mainly empty - unsurprising at $50/couple/day. Besides the 24hr Starbucks, we breakfasted in their Beach Cafe: both the a la carte, and the breakfast buffet were good. The buffet was more like a standard small hotel breakfast bar, but had good hot & cold food. Staff were friendly, and we had a relaxed time. Check out with no problems either.

Room Tip: Go higher up the towers for the views and reduced noise.

Almost everything about our stay was perfect except that hair dryer not working and no fridge in our room. However, those are minor issues. Everything else was excellent. This is an excellent hotel to stay in while you are in Las Vegas. While it is at the southern edge of the strip, with all the walkways it is easy to get around. We took advantage of the beautiful warm/hot weather to walk up and down the strip. WARNING: make sure you have extremely comfortable footwear that you have already broken in if you plan on walking in Vegas.
