“Very good and comfortable stay”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 9, 2013

A long wait to check in after a long haul flight is not what you want, but it seems to go with the territory in Vegas. As does a long haul walk to your room via the casino! We visited most hotels on the strip and felt this was a good choice to stay. The casino is the smallest, but also one of the brightest. The coconut smell is no big deal and it's also used by many other hotels, not just the Tropicana. Staff all friendly. Only ate here once, at the beach cafe, as felt the other two dining options were way over priced. Had a good meal though at the cafe. It's worth signing up for the 'payers club' as you get your first days gambling spend paid back to you. But note, this is done over the next 3 days at 25%, 25% and 50% each day. But still a good offer! As a club member you can also get 50% off most drinks at the bar between 5 and 8 pm. So thats a good deal. Staff were all friendly. Didn't use the pool area as were busy away from the hotel during the day, but looked good and well used.

Rooms were large and comfortable with super comfy beds but annoyingly the windows have a mesh covering them so really hard to appreciate the view. Bathroom had obviously been renovated, but whoever designed the shower height should be made to shower there for the rest of their lives....almost had to kneel down in the tub to wash hair etc and ended up with back ache!

All in all, a really good choice as a base. Well recommended.

We had a wonderful trip and we are so glad we stayed at this hotel. Everyone was so nice. I won a $50 certificate for the Italian Restaurant and the food and service were wonderful. I also won $100 on the wheel to play and another $80 for slot play. The mango drink (with Caribbean Coconut Rum added) was fantastic! The afternoon out at the pool was so nice, too.

Only complaints we had was how far we had to walk to the room, but it's that way in most hotels in Vegas and the room couldn't be darkened so we were up early each day because the room was so bright. Despite that, we would stay here again.

Room Tip: We had a room on the back (away from the strip) but you are going to hear sirens ALL night no matter...

Thank you for your review. I am so glad you enjoyed our Italian restaurant Bacio. I do apologize for the longer than expected commute to your room. I would suggest on your next visit to reserve a room in our Paradise Tower , which is located in our casino area. This stay was a great experience even if it isn't one of those plash strip hotels. Smaller and more intimate, it was just what we wanted to experience. It has been recently refurbished and all of the facilities we used were more than satisfactory. Very clean and comfortable and the food was excellent. I was very impressed by the expanse of swimming pools and availability of outdoor lounge facilities. The impression I got from this is that if you needed this kind of relaxation then they weren't going to force you be totally on the gaming floor. Did I mention how helpful and courteous the staff were. In all areas of service the were helpful and polite. There is no real reason to leave the property unless to see a show somewhere. We did venture across the street to the MGM (we had stayed there before) and ate some terrible breakfast food at a higher buffet price. Yes, they had more to choose from, but if it all looks and taste bad then what is the point. I confess this trip was a quick get-a-way and had to be a budget minded and priced trip. The value is very good and we will be back.

Taken on its own Tropicana is a great hotel. The room (in Paradise Tower) was large, very clean, felt new, had a big flat screen TV. View from room overlooked strip. Like most vegas hotels though, there is no coffee machine or fridge, or mugs. The rest of the hotel similarly feels new bright and clean. The pool area is good; plenty of sun beds and the pool is not crowded. The casino area is not the biggest, and there are less amenities than in some other hotels, but this is only a problem if you intend to stay in the one hotel. Would happily stay again.

We stayed for 1 night at the tropicana. We did some "hotel hopping" i.e stayed at 3 hotels in LV over the course of the trip which included a drive out to grand canyon.

Pros - clean and newly renovated.

Way less smoky than MGM ,excalibur , mirage and treasure island when it came to the casino. There is no such thing as a smoke free casino.

Clean rooms spacious enough. I would not say that they were better than MGM or treasure island but they were clean and more than adequate with a large tub.(at par with the other places)

Friendly staff

PRice Price Price. I thought the price was very reasonable for what they offer.

Resort fee was lower than a few other places.

Quiet - good sleep

Cons - it is a bit of a walk from the south part of the strip. This did not bother us and we actually enjoyed the walk very much and got to take in the sights.

The best buffets and restaurants etc are central/north strip which ,once again, would be a bit of a walk.

The casino is small. We returned at 10:30 pm one night and did not notice many gaming tables which might be a problem for some people. Having said that since the casino was not really crowded finding a slot machine should not be a problem.

No refrigerator offered. At MGM and TI they had refrigerators but they were stocked and if you put your stuff in or took anything out you were charged a restocking fee. tropicana rents a fridge for 19$ -25$ which i thought was good enough. So this issue could be a pro or con.

Not much of a strip view from the rooms.

Overall - I would recommend this place as the price is very reasonable. Casino is less smokey (for those who like it that way) and though you have to walk a bit to most places it is not so far down the south strip that it is a major trek.

P.S i did not try the restaurants here.

Actually did not stay here but gambled here several times while staying at a nearby resort and was absolutely blown away by the service. Many a Vegas hotel & casino have serious attitude, not at the Tropicana. They were all so hospitable and seemed to be very conscious of their score on trip advisor and raising their rating, Kudos to the management staff and the team for bringing hospitality back to the strip.

We heard about the beautiful rennovation of the Tropicana and booked our conference here. We were more than surprised by the transformation of this property from what it had been previously. Our room was lovely and the conference & meeting areas were
better than we had hoped for.

Room Tip: It would be nice if you had those small coffee pots in the hotel rooms for people who wake up and wa...
