I was a little put out when they added the resort fees. I was also not happy initially with the rates considerably higher than their sister property MGM directly across the street. Also, I could not get wifi on our floor. But, when I went down to discuss these issues with the manager, the adjusted these rates and let me know that they were about to enter the 21st Century by installing wifi in all rooms. All in all, we enjoyed their restaurants and pool area and the rooms were very nice.

Room Tip: Ask them if you can get wifi from the room they assign.

And since you don't pay much, you won't get much. Check-in was a 25+ minute wait, mainly because what few front desk staff there were, left as soon as they were done w/their guest. By the time I finally made it to the front of the line there were only 3 staff people left to check-in guests & this was @ 1pm on a Wednesday afternoon. By then the line snaked around the lobby but apparently that wasn't a concern for the management.

This is clearly an older property & most of the maintenance has been focused on the lobby areas leaving the rest of it clearly run down-even the elevators to the guest rooms, especially on the 12th floor. Carpet is so grungy & dirty I didn't even want to walk on it wearing shoes. As an older property, plugs are an issue in the guest rooms, but that is something that is actually easy to fix, if so desired. Clearly it isn't. Bathroom fixtures, especially the tub & shower, are old, worn out, & gross from lime build-up as clearly evident in the pictures I took. Though the room itself is quite spacious, only 1 chair in the room, for the desk, & it has to be one of the most uncomfortable I have ever sat in. Not only is it the wrong height for the desk (too low which makes working on the computer painful for the neck & shoulders) the seat cushion is completely worn out & sagging. Never did figure out what the drilled hole in the middle of the desk was for-certainly in the wrong place for power cords or ethernet cables. Wired internet only in the guest rooms & that itself is an adventure. Had to scrounge for the Ethernet cable, which was in a tangled up mess behind the tv, then go back again, pull out the credenza to dig for the modem, also buried under a mountain of cords & cables, to turn it on. Further, though they claim it is 'high-speed', in reality, it is a very slow simmer & prone to locking up. For this you are paying the $20/day resort fee. Allegedly there is wireless available on floors 1 & 2, but I could never get it to connect since the log-in app would not recognize my room#. The bed is equally worn out & the flat bottom sheets don't help. Then there is the matter of the plumbing-when you have to turn up the tv in order to hear it over the shower next door, there is a sound-proofing problem. I can also tell you the person in the room next door decided to take a shower @ 1am since the noise was so loud it literally woke me up. The pool areas, which I can see from my room, are much smaller than I would have expected, same w/the casino itself.

Having said all this, there actually were a few good points, most notably being the ability to get from the lobby to the guest room elevators w/o having to trek thru the casino, as well as no rent-a-cop demanding to see your room keys in order to get on them. Equally surprising, the AC in the room will go much lower than most newer hotels are allowing-this was appreciated since I had a west facing room that got very toasty in the afternoon & early evening. Unlike most of the large Strip properties, this one does provide a coffee maker in the guest rooms. Also, the complimentary USA Today, provided courtesy of the 'resort fee', is readily available in the lobby area of each guest floor-not as good as delivery to the door but far better than the Palazzo/Venetian which makes their guests trek to 2 different newsstands on the property to hunt for their 'complimentary' paper.

All in all, this would not be a hotel I would ever voluntarily return to.

We met up at the Monte Carlo with our kids and grandkids for a mini reunion. We all had fun in the wave pool & the lazy river. Later in the day on Saturday the "party" people came out so then it was time to leave. The hotel was clean & comfortable. It's very convenient to the tram that goes to Bellagio where you can walk to other hotels. None of us gamble, we were there to see the hotels & enjoy each other. A $20 resort fee is charged each day which should also include free wifi in the room which it does not. Free wifi is available on the first & second floors & it works well. Also on the first floor are a selection of fast food & regular restaurants. We would stay there again.

Room Tip: Ask for a room facing the pool area & as high a floor as you can get.

We stayed from 1-8 June 2014 and had a wonderful time.

We arrived from the UK to the hotel around 3.30pm and checked in straight away. Our room was on the 31st floor overlooking the strip - what a fantastic view! We also were able to access WIFI in our room which was an added bonus!

The hotel was very clean and being one of the smaller hotels on the strip we liked that it wasn't a massive tourist trap and was easy to navigate. The pool area was clean and we enjoyed the music in the daytime. Never had a problem getting a sun bed and enjoyed the lazy river although it could get crowded at times. We really noticed a difference Thursday through Friday when presumably all the Americans come down to party!

Our room was nicely decorated and the bed was one of the comfiest I've ever slept in! We didn't have a problem with noise next door even though we had an inter connecting room.

What is a real credit to the hotel is that each and every staff member we encountered during our stay were so friendly and helpful. I would like to make a special mention to the concierge team who helped us book tickets to shows and Kim at guest services for helping to make our stay stay extra special as we were there with a number of others for a wedding.

Didn't each too much at the hotel but the food court was convenient for snacks and 800 degrees pizza and the creamery were a real treat. Walgreens is next to the hotel if you need any extra supplies!

The casino had a good mix of high tables but you could play blackjack and 3 card poker for as little as $5 which made gambling accessible to most! The slots were really fun too. Unlike the other hotels we visited it didn't have an overpowering smell of smoke or perfume which we were grateful for.

The location on the strip was great and we made use of the free tram to crystals and the bellagio which saved our legs!

The only negative would be that the hotel lacks any real theme but again we were quite grateful as this meant the hotel was over crowded during the day with visitors!

We cannot wait to return to vegas one day and would definitely consider the Monte Carlo again!

I was leery of picking the Monte Carlo because of some of the reviews about service. They were the friendliest, most helpful staff I've encountered in a long time. We had a baggage mix up (shuttle) and I went to the bell desk. The two women on the desk were very helpful, made call for me, kept the bag until the exchange could be made; even gave us bottles of water while we waited to hear back from the shuttle. Room very comfortable (we had a monaco suite) and always clean. The whole staff were friendly( desk; concierge; doormen; bellmen; staff in the hall) - always willing to answer questions or direct us whether it was their station or not. Only drawback was shortage of towels at the pool.

Room Tip: The upgrade to a monaco suite is worth it for someplace to sit and relax.

The hotel was nice enough. Beds were very comfortable. The staff was not very friendly and you get no promotional items or service of any type for staying. The restaurants were overpriced. The pool area was very nice but you couldn't bring your own food and everything was so pricey to order to eat out by the pool. Cabanas were outrageous as well. I wouldn't recommend.

We enjoyed our stay at the Monte Carlo. It was very easy to find our way around and we felt very comfortable staying here. The casino was nice and I enjoyed it more than some of the larger ones we visited. The room wasn't fancy and could use upgrading. But the bed was very comfortable and the room was very clean. The bathroom had mismatched facets. Other than those minor things the room was comfortable and clean.
