“Great Place”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 21, 2013

Stayed here for 2 nights and this place is great. The rooms are BIG and the single beds are good for 2. We went for a Vegas strip view room but its not worth it. The service is good and also has a nice collection of restaurants in addition to having its own court. Breakfast package is worth the money. The hotel is conveniently located on strip and you get the shuttle from Las Vegas airport to this place.

Room Tip: Don't bother spending extra on the strip view rooms, ours wasn't great.

I have stayed at this hotel for the last 4 years it is conveniently located and has the casino and places to eat downstairs.
It is clean and tidy and well priced.
The only downside was checking in we waited nearly an hour in line which is horrible after you fly in from a long flight, this is the first time I have had to wait in a long line.
But it is not a good start to a holiday.

We got married here 15 yrs ago and decided it was time to go back! We stayed in the Spa Suite for the first 2 nights - at first, I was a little bothered that our suite was right off the elevators, I thought great, its going to be very noisey with people coming and going off the elevators, but to my suprise - we did not hear a thing!! :) The suite itself was nice, great view of the pools, relaxing spa, comfy bed, the only problem was the bar sink did not work and our window shade would not go down - the window covering was fixed a little while after we called the front desk. The carpets looked like they could use a cleaning though, a lot of dark stains and just looked dingy and the fixtures in the bathroom were a little old - towel rod kept falling everytime we put our towel on it. After the 2 days in the spa we down graded to the deluxe strip view room - Of course it is much smaller than the spa suite - it was your typical room, nothing special just a nice view of the strip. Our last night in the room we had a cricket that keep us up most of the night - we did not bother to call the front desk because it was very late and we were very tired, i did however call in the morning to advise them - I got an apology and they will let housekeeping know.

If you are going to Vegas with kids this is one great destination, this is the only Hotel in Vegas with a food court on the lobby, even a Mc Donalds, besides it has several pools, including a lazy river and wave pool. For the grown-ups you'll find a very nice atmosphere, nice rooms, a nice casino, the blue man group show on the premises and also great room prices

Just returned from 4 nights at the Monte Carlo Resort & Casino. This was our 9th trip to Vegas, our first in 5 years and our first staying at the MC.
Overall, an A+ experience from top to bottom.
Here's my thoughts
Pro's
GREAT Location! Right in the heart of the strip. Next door to New York New York and the new Aria/City Center/Mandarin/Vdara complex - and across the street from Planet Hollywood and MGM.
Had a basic king room - non smoking - room was big for a basic room and kept nice. We were on the 4th floor facing the pool. So view was ok - nothing great, but again we have seen the strip many times.
Resort as a whole was clean, and comfortable.
Many dining options.

The Cafe was excellent - especially for breakfast - ask for Veronica - A+ service!!

The Pub was good for burgers and pub style food. Also had a large beer variety!

Pool area was AWESOME!! - Wave pool, lazy river and an addtional smaller pool. Lots of chairs, complimentary towels and available ice water. They also have a beach volleyball area (complete with sand)

Check in was smooth and quick - the lady wasn't that "bubbly" welcome to Vegas type, but was efficent. This was helpful since our flight was 6hours late due to mechanical error - we arrived at the MC at 1:30am vegas time.

Players club (MLife) was efficent. Quickly got a new card but little explanation (see below) of the "perks".
Casino was adequate - big but not overwhelming, but lacked some variety (see below)

Blue Man Group - Awesome!

5 Below Ice bar - cool (no pun intended) but a bit pricey. An ice bar in the middle of the desert is pretty cool!

Not so Pro's
Buffet was eh at best. We went for breakfast/brunch (17.99 p/per) and was shown our table. No beverage service - everything was serve yourself - even coffee (which I never recall having to get my own coffee at a buffet of this caliber). Food was decent though not super warm. Omellets were great - with a friendly cook. Decided after that one visit that that was enough of The Buffet.

Casino is not the biggest - well staffed and clean. Easy to navigate with a good variety of slots. Table games were fairly limited - there was no $5 tables until tuesday am (which included craps, roulette and black jack)

Would have liked to see some of the easier table games (Casino War and the Big 6 - that big wheel that you bet which number will come up).

If you sign up for the players club - please ask about how it works. Comps are awarded only on table games. Slot points are accumulated and redeemed for free play after 1000 points. Also, was never told to show my card when charging to the room - Food, beverage, shops etc will earn you points. That also would have been good to know.

Pool drinks are rediculously priced ($12-$14 for a basic frozen drink - $27 for the 32oz souvenir cup with frozen drink) But again - I expected it - but it still seems like alot.

If you are a non-smoker (like me) the casino smoke can be a little overwhelming - though I never felt overcome by 2nd hand smoke. I also chose games away from people that I noticed were smoking.

(A short aside - if you are looking for non-smoking - look at the new Vdara. It is a completely NON smoking facility. Please note though that there is no casino. However it is directly connected to the Bellagio, and the City Center - also a short tram ride to Monte Carlo and the city center)

Summary - As always, vegas is a great place for a quick trip - even from the east coast. The Monte Carlo is a great mid level hotel casino that focus on your overall enjoyment instead of pursuing a specific theme, and the do it with excellence.
If you are looking for ultra chic and contemporary - the MC is not it. However, if you are looking for a classy, well maintained, well staffed, resort in the middle of all the action this is the place!!
You won't go wrong with the Monte Carlo

Enjoyed my visit. I would definitely recommend staying at the Monte Carlo. The room was clean and the bed was really very comfortable. It was 111* outside, but the room was nice and cool. We had a total of 2 rooms and they were able to ensure that we were on the same floor. The bell service was quick. We received our luggage less than 5 minutes after getting up to our room.

Let me start off by saying the staff is excellent here, very friendly & professional & the casino floor is right up there with the nicest, HOWEVER they have let the rooms go from nice & snappy (when I stayed here 10 years ago) to being only slightly better than a dump. The carpet was black with dirt & stains, furniture dented & abused, wall paper peeling, etc. The room is a nice size, TV is decent, but it's just flat out drab & worn. Why not take some of these new ridiculous "resort fees" an put some $ into making it feel like a resort again? The pool area is pretty nice here, with a small floating river & wave pool. Lots of kids & families mid-day. The breakfast buffet was terrible, empty dishes & picked through food. Avoid it. They are refurbishing the entire façade of the property as of June 2013. Hopefully they'll continue that to the rooms as well.

Room Tip: Get a suite. They have been better cared for over the years and aren't run down like the standar...
