I arrived in Vegas after just watching a story on the taxi ripoffs in Vegas the day before and chose to take an airport shuttle (Showtime). The trip ($13 RT) was only about 1/2 hr with the hotel being the last stop, but an early morning departure gave me first pick-up and straight to the airport which was a surprise. For a casino/hotel the checkin was quick and you can obtain your "connect" card right there along with discount coupons ect. The hotel is older, but kept in good shape, has good size rooms that are clean. This is a big place and you can get turned around the first time visiting the floor. They have around a dozen eating places. bowling alley, and theaters. I was surprised that the eating competition didn't lower the prices any. They do have a buffet where you can get a day pass for around $25 but they don't serve breakfast until 8AM and if you're from the midwest you're talking breakfast at 10. The area around the hotel doesn't offer much but they do provide a shuttle to/from the strip at no cost. The $6 resort fees do not include internet which is $10 a day. They do have free service in 1 of the coffee shops but everyone I asked said it was mostly hit and miss. This is a large casino and is probably 50/50 tourist and locals so the place can become very crowded especially if they have a convention present. One nice perk when leaving is you can checkout from your room using the TV.

Room Tip: It's a casino, stay away from the elevators.

Stayed 4 nights in April at the Orleans. Hotel/casino is about 1-1/2 miles off the Vegas strip, on Tropicana. Free shuttle to the strip, although we always rent a car for additional flexibility. We love to stay here due to the friendly people and large casino. Lots of variety for places to eat, including a TGI Fridays, Sushi, Buffet, Mexican, Steak, etc. Good comps if you do some gambling - just a great place to stay in Vegas. Great pool, large bowling alley, theaters, and Orleans Arena all add to the charm of a local hotel - close enough to the strip, but far enough to present it's own identity away from the hustle and bustle. Entertainment in the bars and lounges, as well as in the showroom are always first rate, too.

Room Tip: Large complex although I prefer a pool view or a mountain view.....

I had a 4 night stay for a Symposium I was attending. I found (in hindsight) Orleans Shuttle Service to the Strip made car rental a waste of $ !. Overall, impressed with rooms and staff, food was fair their 24 Cafe (was served an uneatable prime rib) but they have Fudruckers, TIGF in their Casino. Customer Service was good overall, but Reception gave misinformation about In Room Check Out which caused an almost 30 minute delay in my departure. When I mentioned it to the person who gave me wrong info, she rolled her eyes and turned away. Need a little more training there. Orleans never acknowledged my concerns. Might stay there again, but with so many choices in Las Vegas, am not sure.

We (a couple in our late 20's) stayed here for three nights in mid-April, and we loved our stay. We aren't really into the party scene, but we did get to enjoy the pool for a few hours during our first day. The pool was nice and the pool bar had good drinks. There were plenty of chairs available at 2 in the afternoon. Our room was just fine, nothing too fancy, but it was comfortable and clean. The bed was comfortable and we didn't ever wake up from people being noisy in the hallway or surrounding rooms. I appreciated that they have a security guard stationed at the room elevators who checks to make sure that people using the elevators are hotel guests by flashing their key cards. We used the shuttle a few times and it was a nice way to get over to the strip, with the trip taking about 10 minutes to get there and 15 or so to get back. You have to walk through Bally's to get to the strip from the dropoff/pickup point, but it wasn't too bad. The rooms were very reasonably priced and the daily resort fee was only $6 instead of the $20 or so the hotels on the strip charge.

We frequent Vegas normally once a month or more and have just recently started staying at The Orleans. The location is great. Convenient to the freeways, restaurants & shopping. Being off the strip traffic cuts travel times down considerably. The rooms are oversized and clean. I like the security guard at the elevator entrance - lends a sense of safety. Will be staying again.

A cute casino with lots of cute decor inside and out. Many gaming options and lots of food and drink options. A huge bowling alley upstairs also. Child care also available.
