“great stay”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 11, 2014

convenient location. the walkway to cross the street and get to the monorail is across the street. be prepared to do some walking. the restaurants were great. Gallaghers steak house had great service and great food. a little expensive. plenty of slot machines and gaming tables. Dave was great at the dueling piano bar. Rooms were comfortable and clean. air conditioning could get a little too cold though.. would of liked a small refrigerator in the room.

Room Tip: make sure your room isn't near the roller coaster

This hotel was older but I wouldn't hold that against NYNY. The room was amazing with a personal whirlpool spa tub right in the room, the color scheme and casino rivaled the newer designed hotels. The staff more than made up for the age of this hotel! I cannot say enough about this hotel. I actually enjoyed it more than my last stay at MGM.

Room is very clean, asked for an upgrade and received a corner view which was awesome! Great location on the strip, a little on the south end of the strip though. Has an arcade and roller coaster for all ages to enjoy, the pool was small (compared to other hotels) nothing spectacular. Very nice and clean hotel, has Zumanity a great Adult show to see. Wide variety of restaurants with no wait time (looks like you are on the streets of NY).
-No retail shopping, but there are other places for that! Ride the roller coaster, eat the food, and gamble!
I believe the price is closer b/c this is located at the southern end, but your are still in the mix of all the hotels and across from MGM.

Room Tip: Rooms a great, no dated, bathroom was small, but bed and furniture was great. Ask for a higher level...

We always stay at NYNY when we visit Las Vegas. It is located at a great spot on the strip and the price is affordable. We have stayed here both with and without kids and both experiences are wonderful. We will be back next month.

We have a family of 5 and went on a last minute trip to Vegas. NY NY was very well priced and they let us sleep 5 in a room. Not many hotels do that. It was very family friendly and my wife and kids loved the trip. My wife would love to go back and stay at NY NY once again. Value for money was excellent.

Room Tip: We had a foam mattress for the youngest child. Worked perfect.

I was in town for 4 days and I stayed at NYNY mainly for the location. I came shortly after it opened in the late 90's and as a native NYer, I loved all the homages to NYC: the art deco, the yellow "cab" limos, the NY Slot Exchange and the high limit slots located in a Tavern on the Green hideaway. The only thing that remain is the art deco motif. You wouldn't really know you were in a place modeled after NY except for the Statue of Liberty and the skyline outside. Oh yeah, they also removed the Brooklyn Bridge from the sidewalk.

My check-in went smoothly. A very pleasant young lady named Gabrielle helped me and accommodated my reference for a high-storied room on the 32nd floor. The room was adequate. The pillows were the high-quality down type. The bathrooms are rather small. There is a $20 a day which includes the internet service but don't expect to stream anything because it was bloody slow. The TV reception was uneven, I kept getting a warning that there was a "poor or no signal". The one film I wanted to watch on the in-room menu was "Chef" with Jon Favreau and it wasn't available.

Since 1997 I had been going to America restaurant because of the diverse menu and the awesome American map sculpture that hangs above the tables. This place rarely disappoints.
However, Il Fornaio is another story. I don't think there is one Italian on the staff. I heard more Spanish spoken than English. If I were the manager I would make an English-only rule, since this is America after all. But how politically incorrect of me. Actually the one who appeared to be speaking Spanish most was a manager to the bartender. With regards to the food, the carpaccio was great as was the linguine with clams, mussels, and prawns. I sat at the bar and the bar maids were extremely attentive, one even perceptively offered me some club soda for the stain on my shirt. As a result I left a generous tip.

The pool area was small. I had to sit in the shade until a decent spot opened up. Forget about a nice relaxing day at the pool since there is a roller coaster roaring over your head every 3 minutes.

Another detraction about staying here is how cheap they have gotten. I play video poker anywhere from 50 cents to $1 and if you play at the bar you can't get a comped martini. Forget the fact that the bartender poured as much vodka into my vodka tonic as he would in a martini. You would think that the ample money made on the slot would keep their medium rollers fairly happy. For Pete's sake, local casinos comp martinis why can't this place.

Speaking of slots, just don't play here if you care to gamble. The video poker machines are awfully tight and I tried several when I stayed at different denominations. This used to be one of the luckiest casinos in town but since MGM Mirage took charge it's a big ripoff. I am not going back again.

Room Tip: Get a high floor to avoid the noise from the roller coaster
