This was the second Las Vegas hotel we stayed and although different to the Mirage was as equally appealing. Check in was an experience in itself as Oscar de la Hoya was present together with all the boxers from the Canelo v Lara match promoting the fight, quite simply brilliant! You also get the chance to meet the boxers and get some pictures. The hotel itself is HUGE! as are the Tower Suites we booked which were top draw! You could spend the week here an not venture out of the hotel eating at different places every meal time! The places we did eat were very good specifically the buffet which although didn't include alcoholic drinks was very good quality and value. Staff on the whole were friendly although some of the casino waitresses were rude and abrupt. Overall would highly recommend : )

Our family has never stayed at the MGM but has been in Vegas many times. We picked the MGM over the Mandalay due to it being around half the price. The hotel was nice and all but it lacked the quality and luxury we have come to expect at the Mandalay. Nice pool and clean rooms just not up to our standard. Rooms racking the strip have a fair view of the city but looking at the airport isn't anything special. Also very confusing to get the car parked and have to go through the underground area to get to the check in. Did not hate the hotel but it was definitely vegas on a budget compared to the Mandalay. Definitely going back to Mandalay. Also great central location on the strip in comparison to Mandalay. And cirque du soleil KA was in our hotel. Great show would recommend seeing it while in Vegas.

Room Tip: Definitely go for a room looking onto the strip

Everything in one place!! Just great!! If you don't need to go off site, everything is right there and you don't need to "enjoy" the Vegas heat.
Only drawback is food/drink is a little expensive but really very good with many choices.

Unfortunately our stay here was really disappointing. We were first given a room that looks right into the roof of the casino. Really ugly but whatever we didn't go for the view. However our blinds ended up not working. We mentioned this to the front desk thinking they'd just send a repair man up but instead they gave us a new room immediately, no hesitation. The new room was on a much higher floor and had a view of the Strip which was great! Very happy! The new room had a slight smell of smoke to it though but we figured whatever, not a big deal. Perhaps just from the previous guest and the smell should go away. Turns out the reason for the smell was because we had an adjoining room with a locked door in between and the people next to us liked to smoke pot and cigarettes all night! When we complained this time the staff member we spoke too did nothing and seemed completely uninterested. She looked up something in her computer (maybe!) and told us that they were due to check out that morning. They didn't. The room guests were still there the next night. No pot this time but definite smoking and partying and coming and going like crazy each time slamming their door closed. It was terrible and very noisy! We get that it's Vegas. We expect the partying but this wasn't just noise till 2:00am the noise started at 1:00am and went till 6:00am! Straight through both nights!

I don't think the smoke smell would have been quite so bad if the rooms weren't adjoining. We ended up pushing a towel up to the bottom of the door the whole time we were there. It didn't help much. Thank goodness they left after that second night! At any rate the MGM seems to show it's age when it comes to sound proofing. Very disappointed in that and the staff member we spoke with who seemed to not care one bit! Perhaps things would have been different if we'd spoken to someone else.

On the flip side the location of the MGM is great. Right on the strip and across from New York New York. The best part though is the pool. We discovered the MGM pool on our 4th visit when we stayed at the MGM Signature (which we loved). The pool is a game changer for us when it comes to Vegas. We can lounge and relax by the lazy river most of the day and then dress up and go out for dinner or to see a show at night. The pool is really nice, with lots of seating (maybe not so much when a convention is happening though like on our last day but whatever) and fairly quiet if you don't sit near the Wet Republic. We didn't mind the thumping music but could see how some people might.

Bottom line, we loved the pool but will be staying at the MGM Signature next time for sure!

A very convenient and pleasant place to stay. Would stay there again. Nice pool choices. Can find a starbucks in every corner. The valet service was quick and prompt. They spent extra time giving me directions.

The Grand renovation is a complete success, in my opinion. High rating for nice, interesting, spotless new rooms. They are fresher and bolder than ever. Gone are the tan deco rooms, and in are reds, black accents, bright carpeting, new amenities, and technology! Plug things in, stream your own video, charge whatever. The pool is as good as ever and you always have a lot of options for room types. The base rates for rooms like the executive queen and spa rooms are actually pretty good but it gets pricey when you factor in the resort fee.

This property is gigantic and has everything you could need. You will do a lot of walking and you might get confused in the casino. Everything is in excellent condition. No dinginess, no dirtiness (bonus points). This is not a good place for children. It's Vegas, but MGM Grand especially is a big, open casino floor and security doesn't take kindly to loose children.

A couple minor deductions from the judges: the buffet was horrible, especially given the price. When I asked an attendant why it seemed like Mirage, Mandalay Bay, and MGM's buffets all were going downhill at the same time, an employee shrugged and told me that Mlife slashed the buffet budgets and, yeah, she knows it's bad now. I don't know what that's about.

Also, the $28 resort fee is a punitive, cheap shake-down that won't deliver the promised amenities. You cannot get 5 stars if you have that high of a resort fee that delivers so shoddy an internet connection.

Room Tip: Avoid the West Wing/Petite King rooms at all costs.

We were attending a convention, and on arrival had almost an hour wait to get registered. There were lots of people to talk to, and the time went by pleasantly. The young woman that took care of me was very efficient and courteous.

The hotel is huge and our room was a good walk from the elevators. The room itself was very comfortable.

I had meetings to attend, and soon discovered that the meeting rooms were a long walk from the room. The food court was on the way, so that worked well. There was a good selection of food types.

Our events took place in the Garden Arena and it worked very well. All events were held in the MGM Grand, so the heat wave didn't bother us, until we went outside for food. The resort fee included internet, and several other services, and it was not too expensive.

Our convention rate was reasonable, especially on the weekends, when Las Vegas rates are high. All in all, I enjoyed the MGM Grand. It is a HUGE hotel, and food is not cheap!

Room Tip: Ask for a room with a low number. The higher the number the longer the walk.

Green Features: There are smokers everywhere, but there was no general smell of smoke. Either the ventilation system is extraordinarily good, or there is some additional chemical used to mask the Oder.
