So glad we asked for recommendations before going to Vegas our first time. MGM was one of all our friends favorites and we definitely would agree now! Nice very large hotel, but easy enough to get around, even though we were in the West Tower in the Petite King suites, we found we were close to the elevators that shot us out down near the casinos and very close to the Blvd access. To get to the pools we found we could walk upstairs through the building and take a different elevator down and we didn't have to meander through the casino in our bathing suits... thought saw quite a few people who were doing that anyways?? Pool was nice, even found that once they opened the lazy river side at 10 that all the people with kids leave the other pools and you can have it more to yourselves... Also, the back pool, I think it was called the Producer's pool by the bar was adults. Not sure it was labeled that way but no kids were there the whole time and people were drinking a lot, so maybe families just stayed away... which was fine with me we didn't have our kids with us and I didn't want to watch someone elses on my vacation. The lazy river was full of kids and teens, though we went on the day that the club pool Wet Republic wasn't open so maybe I would have gone there instead since that is adult only??
Oddly MGM did have A LOT of kids running around, even in the casinos. I remember not too long ago kids could not even get into to casino floors, but this one they are all over it. Which was a little annoying, though they were only walking through, it was disconcerting seeing kids up all hours of the night wandering around, even if they were with their parents. What are they doing at 3 am with kids?? Besides that it was a nice hotel, with lots of good bar options, and the cocktail waitresses in the casino were pretty fast, and the few free drinks we had were pretty good. I stuck with the bloody mary mostly because that's hard to mess up.
No coffee pot in the room??!! SAY What! Had to trek down to Starbuck's every morning, and I have to have my coffee. Boo on that MGM, really a one cup coffee pot really going to set you back that much?!!
Room was beautiful and quiet and the bed was wonderful though. We sleep on a temper-pedic at home and never even missed it. If we had neighbors we never heard them, and housekeeping was quiet when they came through. Lots of food options around, but a bit of a walk from the West Tower area, all of the "fast food" options are all together in a food court area, again, full of kids.
Nice overall, just don't understand all of the kids, maybe because it was the middle of summer, but I would NEVER bring my kids there at that age. Heck I was 36 before I went, so not sure why so many families thought that was a good place to vacation??
