MGM Grand Hotel and Casino

So glad we asked for recommendations before going to Vegas our first time. MGM was one of all our friends favorites and we definitely would agree now! Nice very large hotel, but easy enough to get around, even though we were in the West Tower in the Petite King suites, we found we were close to the elevators that shot us out down near the casinos and very close to the Blvd access. To get to the pools we found we could walk upstairs through the building and take a different elevator down and we didn't have to meander through the casino in our bathing suits... thought saw quite a few people who were doing that anyways?? Pool was nice, even found that once they opened the lazy river side at 10 that all the people with kids leave the other pools and you can have it more to yourselves... Also, the back pool, I think it was called the Producer's pool by the bar was adults. Not sure it was labeled that way but no kids were there the whole time and people were drinking a lot, so maybe families just stayed away... which was fine with me we didn't have our kids with us and I didn't want to watch someone elses on my vacation. The lazy river was full of kids and teens, though we went on the day that the club pool Wet Republic wasn't open so maybe I would have gone there instead since that is adult only??

Oddly MGM did have A LOT of kids running around, even in the casinos. I remember not too long ago kids could not even get into to casino floors, but this one they are all over it. Which was a little annoying, though they were only walking through, it was disconcerting seeing kids up all hours of the night wandering around, even if they were with their parents. What are they doing at 3 am with kids?? Besides that it was a nice hotel, with lots of good bar options, and the cocktail waitresses in the casino were pretty fast, and the few free drinks we had were pretty good. I stuck with the bloody mary mostly because that's hard to mess up.
No coffee pot in the room??!! SAY What! Had to trek down to Starbuck's every morning, and I have to have my coffee. Boo on that MGM, really a one cup coffee pot really going to set you back that much?!!

Room was beautiful and quiet and the bed was wonderful though. We sleep on a temper-pedic at home and never even missed it. If we had neighbors we never heard them, and housekeeping was quiet when they came through. Lots of food options around, but a bit of a walk from the West Tower area, all of the "fast food" options are all together in a food court area, again, full of kids.
Nice overall, just don't understand all of the kids, maybe because it was the middle of summer, but I would NEVER bring my kids there at that age. Heck I was 36 before I went, so not sure why so many families thought that was a good place to vacation??

Room Tip: Plan for a lot of money for food in Vegas now, buffets are no longer cheap and lines are ridiculous...

Dear TampaRobbinsNest:

Visiting Las Vegas for the first time is definitely an experience worth savoring. This city offers so many unique things to see and do, the action never stops! Picking the right place to stay is therefore essential. As the Entertainment Authority, the staff at MGM Grand understands that all aspects of your visit should be both memorable and positive.

It is great to know that you enjoyed your room accommodations. Our West Tower Petite King rooms are popular for a reason. They offer a uniquely modern layout and are situated near the Strip for easy access. Plush in-room amenities abound as well, and are designed to maximize the comfort of our guests.

We are also deeply encouraged to know that you found our Grand Pool complex well worth visiting. The weather here in Las Vegas is ideal for water recreation, and our facilities answer this call like no other. We are glad you had a good time.

Las Vegas is a city that caters primarily to those who can enjoy the adult themed activities so thoroughly represented. MGM Grand is no exception to this rule. This does not mean, however, that a family vacation here will be a dull time for younger patrons. There are spectacles and entertainment options available that anyone can enjoy. Areas reserved for adults are conspicuously designated as such, and children are strictly prohibited from gaming and alcohol serving areas. We appreciate your concerns and will continue to stay vigilant to this policy.

We thank your friends for their recommendations, and hope you might add a few of your own. Please come visit us again soon.

Sincerely,

Lori Pastor

This was my 4th stay at the MGM Grand Las Vegas. I hadn't been there in five years, and a lot has changed. The renovations have modernized the MGM. I had a Executive Queen Suite, very nice room with comfortable beds. Only issue was the room never really cooled off and there were some issues with the TV (computer related). I would recommended staying here. The only thing that has not changed is the fragrance used in the casino floor. It was very strong and a times, over bearing. The staff was friendly and courteous. I would also recommend joining the M Life. The casino floor is always busy no mater what time of day. The Grand Buffet has gone up in price, and the quality is not as good as it was 5 years ago. Although, the wait is minimal.

Room Tip: Executive rooms.

Dear Fdawg91:

Welcome back. It is great to serve you again.

With the ambitious upgrades of our Grand Renovation, a great deal has happened since last you visited. The MGM Grand has taken a huge leap forward with our many updates, additions, and improvements. This means not only an improved facility from top to bottom, but also the most innovative and comprehensive rewards initiative in our M Life program. We are glad you joined. You will be glad you did too.

One thing that remains a constant, however, is our dedication to providing the most satisfying guest experience possible. This means that we take your concerns regarding our Grand Buffet and in-room television service very seriously. Rest assured that where challenges exist, we will seek appropriate remedies.

Thank you for sharing your insights. We hope you have the opportunity to return soon.

Sincerely,

Rooms good. Staff good and friendly for the most part. Pool is crowded and unkempt (smelly and cloudy water). Trash should be picked up more often on the grounds. Lounge chairs are old feeling. We loved he restaurant, Wolfgang Puck's and had the most fantastic, casual meal. The servers were very friendly and so accommodating. We have been regular visitors, but I must say we have experienced even better accommodations recently at some of MGM's sister casinos. Do your research, the competition is great. Overall, we enjoyed our recent stay at the MGM.

Dear Julia P:

Thank you for sharing your stay with us. We are glad to know your visit was a pleasant one. Exceptional service and upgraded accommodations are mainstays at MGM Grand and we appreciate your compliments.

We regret that your time at our Grand Pool complex proved somewhat less than optimal. This amenity is extremely popular because of its many pools, bars, drink service, and relaxing environment. Of course, we understand the importance of maintaining a well kept facility throughout our property. Our pool area is no exception. If you encountered shortfalls in this objective, then we apologize. We will continue to seek avenues of improvement, because your total satisfaction is our objective.

MGM Grand seeks to provide the premier resort destination for its patrons. We appreciate any and all feedback that helps further this goal.

We had another outstanding trip in Las Vegas. We have stayed at the MGM for the last 10 years and we really enjoy the resort.
We are treated very special and it is always very clean. We always look forward to seeing Al in the Zuri bar. We feel the pool is the best in Las Vegas from what we have seen.
Thank you for a great trip. Looking forward already to our next visit this year!!

We appreciate your ongoing patronage. When our guests demonstrate continued loyalty, we know we must be on the right track. We covet your business, so keeping valuable guests like you means offering a facility worthy of rediscovery. Upgrades and renewed novelty are important. The personal touch, however, is even more critical. This is a must stay hotel for any Las Vegas trip! MGM has beautifully decorated and updated its bedrooms, bathrooms and hallways. Service is excellent. The place is very, very, clean too. Te bathrooms are what we would all like to have in our homes.

Room Tip: Ask for a floor above the 5th and for a mountain view.

Great hotel, the staff is very friendly and helpful, and this is the most important thing on my trips. There is more than enough food options inside the hotel. It is near the bus stop so you can get to any other part of Vegas quickly, especially if you use the Express Line. The rooms are very nice, the only reason I rated them with 2 is because we found some pieces of broken glass in our room.

Room Tip: Always ask for a higher floor away from the elevator and the ice machines.
