“Great stay at the MGM Grand”
Reviewed June 29, 2013

We were lucky to get a Grand Tower room; very comfortable beds; spacious; lovely bathroom with excellent amenities. Went to the pool for one afternoon but packed with bodies and no room for us. Suggest going very early if you want a spot. Also, the Directors Pool was closed for a private party for the whole weekend but yet no one in the pool, just one model with a photographer. Too bad. Enjoyed lunch at Wolfgang Pucks (Fish and Chips were average) and happy hour at the Mexican restaurant. Fair walk to other hotels in mid-strip, but taxis always available to give you a ride. Remember, you can only catch one at the hotel front entrances; forget about hailing a cab on the street. Close to the airport, friendly staff, strongly recommend.

Dear KootenayKid50:

Thank you for recommending MGM Grand. We appreciate your feedback.

It is great to know that you enjoyed our facility. Your comfort and enjoyment are deeply important to us. This means excellent bedding and plush décor when staying in our rooms. It also means that exceptional service and a wide variety of dining, entertainment, and transportation options also are available for your pleasure and convenience.

Your observations regarding the Grand Pool and our airport registration desk are indeed prudent. MGM Grand is the place to be this summer, and it certainly never hurts to take advantage of crowd beating techniques like the ones you mentioned.

We look forward to your return. Another great stay at MGM Grand is waiting for you.

Sincerely,

Went to Las Vegas for a Beachbody Summit Retreat, stayed at the MgM. It was so beautiful when I walk in. The lobby itself is nice has a big Lion statue with gold on top of the ceiling. The only thing i didn't like was the waiting line to check in, but there was so much going on that week with many conventions there, that was understandable. My first time in Vegas there were slot machines everyone. The hotel smelled like that sprayed perfume, probably because people were smoking. The rooms are really nice the beds were comfortable and housekeeping always came everyday to fix the rooms, the bathrooms were wonderful also. The restaurants inside MGM were wonderful also had great food, except for the buffet in the hotel not really a good selection but came with alcohol drinks so that was good. Overall the hotel is great I will be back there again next year. The location is awesome because it goes out and connects with another hotel; New York New York and goes right on the strip.

The hotel is very grand as the title depicts. The whole place is of a very high standard and is very impressive. We got a suite and the room was fantastic, a sitting room, flat screen TV, amazing bathroom with a jacuzzi bath and it was heaven and a great sanctuary from the madness of the rest of the hotel and Vegas. My only downside was that even though it is a plush hotel, you are treated like one of the masses. It's 5 star luxury but you never feel special like you might at other hotels of this standard. You're ushered into queues like cattle to check in, you have to pay for everything extra that you may need (my example being a fridge for your room something in the region of $20 per day) and although the staff are courteous and polite, you never feel like a special guest - which is what we wanted being on honeymoon. I guess that's what you get in Vegas with the rooms being such good value so I suppose its swings and roundabouts...

Dear Jannette7:

Congratulations on your recent marriage. It seems that while you enjoyed your honeymoon with us for the most part, we did not exceed expectations in certain aspects of our service to you.

Exceptional amenities like our newly renovated accommodations, as well as recent updates to our catalogue of dining options like Avenue 24 and Pub 1842 help us attend to the physical needs of our patronage. We also practice a culture of service that is intended to be proactive and individualized. If we failed to make you feel special, we have fallen short of our goal. Rest assured we are committed to do better. Your comments will help us to evaluate our performance and refocus our attentions on this particular issue.

We only hope to be given another chance to provide you with the service experience that you deserve.

Sincerely,

Once again we stayed at the MGM Grand. We had a nice suite and as always the service was great. From checking in, to getting reservations for dinner, and getting show tickets from the concierge, everyone was helpful.
We flew in to the airport and discovered that we had to go to a new terminal, Terminal 3. Terminal 1 has the MGM check in so we were a little bummed about not being able to check in at the airport this year.

But onward and upward.

So after getting our rental car and driving over to the MGM, we discovered that they had a separate check in for M Life Gold and Platinum customers. What a relief as the lines are long for checking in and out and almost all the hotels. We get to the desk and the gentlemen who was from Colorado and I forgot his name (Sorry about that), did a fantastic job, checking us in and getting us into a nice suite. Great view of the strip and very roomy. The updated rooms at MGM are very nice, the suite was even better.
Some people complained about the lights coming into there room from the outside spotlights, but we had ZERO issues. We had 2 shades; 1 sheer which you could use and get sunlight in without having to completely darken the room and a dark shade which kept out the spotlights and the sun in the early morning hours.

Everyone that works here is very friendly and helpful. Always a smile and Hi! in the halls.

Housekeeping: Fantastic Job she would clean our room, get in and out, while we were usually downstairs having breakfast.

The Concierge: Great job! We wanted dinner reservations at Craftsteak (see my other review) but they were always closed when we walked by the restaurant. The Concierge quickly set up a reservation for us.
They found us great seats for Criss Angel Believe center stage level.

The M Life customer service desk: The woman at the desk was phenomenal she made sure we got our comps and made arrangements easily for us.

Gambling not so good LOL, but that's why it's called gambling.
Craps just wasn't my game that week. The dealers were great I just couldn't get on a good roll all week,

One issue we experienced, the server for the MGM resorts for slot machines crashed one day. Everyone had to get hand paid by the slot attendants. KUDOS the the slot Supervisors, Attendants, and Technicians. They came around explained the situation and quickly paid people out.

We ate at the Buffet everyday for breakfast good selection and easily in and out without any problems. All of the servers we had were very attentive and friendly.

We had lunch at Wolfgang Puck's bar and grill (see review). Food was good, as was the service.

The wife gets her massages at the spa and loves it there.

Unfortunately I never made it to the pool this trip. No motivation to get up and go out in the hot sun this time.

All in all a great trip to Vegas and and GREAT stay at the MGM.

I am planning another trip with friends in September and booking a room at the MGM after I finish this review.

If you want to hang out in a crowded casino, where all of the younger people run around in little or no clothes, then this is the place for you. If you prefer a more upscale, older, mature, not so crowded hotel/casino then I would go somewhere else. I will not stay here again. I have stayed at Bellagio before and it was crowded this time, but the interior is much nicer as well as it has a more mature group of clientele. The pool at MGM was over crowded and we had to weave in an out of people who would just stop in front of you. The line to check in was so long (we got there at noon) we waited until 9pm to check in. Checkout was easy. MGM also has a stop on the monorail which was nice. It also has 3 Starbucks inside but cannot take any gift cards-so i just purchased my morning java. McDonalds here does not have a McCafe either. Took forever for them to clean rooms as the hallways are as long as a football field!

Room Tip: The King Executive suite is extra big, so you don't have to spend more unless you want the jette...

MGM Grand has a dizzying lay out to get to the rooms, but once you know the secret passages, you can find your way around. Room was satisfactory and bed comfortable. Near the southern edge of the strip, many locations can be walked to, or take the monorail to.

Check in was a little wait due to the volume of the hotel. Room view was adequate, but nothing spectacular.

We had 12 nights here and upon check in was greeted with a smiling face and waiver of the resort fee and an upgraded room. We loved our room (with two queen beds) and our friends had one the same just two doors down from us, the view onto the strip was great. We could see the Bellagio fountain show (distantly) from our room on the 18th floor, plus all the lights and flashing colors at night made for a view I could not get enough of. I would imagine not all rooms had such a view.

Our room was serviced daily, if we slept in we could arrange for a later clean up. Other room features we loved, the blackout blinds - even though sometimes it made it impossible to wake up. the bathroom had been renovated as was the whole room, it felt fresh and not worn out.
The hotel is enormous! You'll find Macdonalds, Starbucks (3) and many many other shops and restaurants along the way on your walking trip to the pool. The pool was amazing, the lazy river I loved and would say this is a wicked way to spend the day, drinks aren't too pricey, but much more than on the strip of course.

We ate once at the rainforest cafe and had a hoot with Stacy our host, who sung/belted out 'final countdown' at the table for no apparent reason, but what a laugh!
We also walked up the strip and had 'f.a.t burger', they are so good! Obv. Not a healthy meal, but we felt we had to try a big big burger whilst in the States, and a bucket of 5 beers is $15. Or you could grab a beer for two dollars at most souvenir shops/convenience stores on the strip, walk down the street and take in the action.

We also saw David Copperfield at the MGM Grand Hollywood Theatre, a must! Really blew our mind and left us buzzing. We also saw KA at MGM, a great show and lived up to the gravy defying reputation.

We bought tickets for all our shows online from our room using the free wifi connected to our own devices. The wifi was strong and fast, but only worked in the hotel area not in the casino as suggested at check in. We did the express checkout and was assured we'd get an email of our room bill, but that never happened, not did our friend get one. We knew what we spent, so at least we felt comfortable with that. There is no email contact for this hotel, so calling them from Australia to request a bill seems like an obstacle well set up. The que to check out the old school way is enormously long.
Finally I would say to anyone considering the MGM Grand, yes give it a go and try the lazy river, you're paying for it!

Room Tip: Higher the better and ask for a strip side view.
See more room tips
Green Features: Seemed like they threw out a lot of our bathroom toiletries instead of just letting us use them up. I really don't need a new cake of soap everyday. Plus they washed every towel, used or not.
