“Great hotel with great atmosphere”
Reviewed May 26, 2013

We have arrived to Las Vegas 2 nights earlier than planned therefore book this hotel. Our choice was made by the price range and our friends recommendation. We weren't disappointed. You arrive to the huge lobby where you can have fresh complimentary drinks (vodka shot size plastic cups :-) Then it will take you between 5-8 min to arrive to your room. By American standards a little small but comfy. When you arrive to your floor the hall to your room looks eternal! The hotel itself is huge! It has everything: shows, casinos, restaurants, food court (McD and others), pools.
Pool area is fun: great atmosphere thanks to the great music. 5 pools surrounded by the palm trees and comfortable chairs. People having fun, sipping cocktails and enjoying the music! Love it!
The pools were not deep and with a lot of chlorine like everywhere in US.
David Copperfield show was fun!

The only thing I didn't like was the scent that was everywhere sprayed by the hotel and it was strong!

Room Tip: we book a standard room and it was fine and quiet.

We stayed here for my 21st birthday as our first hotel (we stayed in 3 others being Wynn and Bellagio) this was hands down our favorite....on check in the staff were very polite and friendly. Our room was the tower spa suite which was just amazing. We could not have asked for a nicer room. It was clean and just beautiful. We had room service on our first morning the nicest pancakes ever.......pricey but worth it. We ate in wolf gang puk the staff were kind friendly and all for giving you the best service. The food was amazing after being on a 10 hour flight just what we needed. The casino was huge!!!! A great food court, and the pools were just breath taking. The only comment I had was I asked for a coke at the bar outside and because I didn't have my I'D they wouldn't surve me.........but if that's the only issue WOW.....I work in a hotel and the service here was fantastic. I enjoyed my stay that much we are re visiting Vegas for 2 weeks in October and staying in the signature. I hope it is just as amazing.

Just returned from a two week stay, we were upgraded on arrival from grand king to grand queen executive room, fabulous, 2 showers, 2 sinks, bath, two 40 inch tv two double beds, great view of new york new york.hotel. we were there 5 to 19 may, only had bother once and this was with noisy rude amercians partying at 4 am outside in corridor when i asked them to keep quiet the women shouted hail america etc after shouting at me oh you are scottish on phoning reception security were sent up and not much more noise after that just a little, then the alcohol must have knocked them out lol. the individuals were in 21 306 so you know who you are.pool are huge with lots of sunbeds but gets extremely busy at the weekend and there is loud music at all pools so not really any quiet places to sunbathe but you get used to that, it takes about ten minutes to walk from room to outside of hotel. only thing lacking in hotel is a bar with some kind of live entertainment as we had to go to new york new york etc for this but there are plenty of eating places, starbucks etc and you must try project pie in the underground bit for pizza lovely.and bliss frozen yoghurt and their crepes with fruit yummy. if in the little store next to grand elevators say hi to bridie from scotland, shes such lovely friendly helpful woman and is a credit to the MGM grand. vegas itsef is very expensive for drinks etc roughly 18 dollars for a wine and beer but if you go in casino royal it is 1 dollar for bottle beer and 3. 50 dollars for a wine and a beer why can't they all charge like this? bit of a rip off, lots and lots of beggars and tramps everywhere just outside of all the posh hotels don't know why these people have not been moved on as this puts you off a bit. everywhere theres wee mexicans giving you cards for woman in your room doesnt matter if you are in couples and these cards are lying all over street bit seedy with all of that. one guy even offered me weed as he walked past and we did see the police few times handcuffing drunks who were lying on street shouting an swearing but as long as you have your wits about you it is okay but i don't think i would take children to vegas too seedy for that.every hotel is nicer than one another they all have themes and the detail to them all is awesome, i felt i had to write about some of the seedier bits aout vegas as you don't know all this if you have not been before, we also used deuce bus which ended up really expensive 20 dollars for 3 day pass but on our last day we saw notices stating 34 dollars for 15 days but don't know where you get these we had to buy a few 1 day and about 3 times 3 day passes so overall cost us over 150 dollars.mandelay bay buffet excellent, 30 dollars a head for all you can eat and drink wine, beer and soft drinks.excalibur buffet good too, planet dailies do a rib eye steak think it is 6 to 8pm 10 dollars and if downtown at fremont go in golden gate hotel top end and go to think it is despars bay city diner i had chicken pot pie first time i've taste it yummy and lovely pie desserts yum yum and reasonable, it is an experience down fremont not to be missed lol all in all we had a great time but you have to be very aware of the seedier parts.and if downtown don't stray off the main part heard people saying gangs hang around waiting for tourists although we never saw any of them, and also the former imperial hotel now quad is a complete building site so be wary if booking there, ps saw elton john, great, rock of ages, jersey boys and australian b gees the latter not as good as the others, use tickets4tonight if in mgm grand walk up to the coca cola bottle and use one in there as its quieter and they don't issue tickets you have to pay then go to box office of show and you have to show photographic id hope all this helps .....be very wary of using grand canyon experience just outside mgm as we lost money will be doing a review on that in attractions.

Room Tip: we had 21st floor non smoking south strip view lovely

The MGM Grand was our last destination from our first trip to the United States May 2013. We arrived at midnight after a long flight from Hawaii. Reception informed us that our room that had been booked and paid for months in advance had been allocated and not available, that they operate on a first come first served basis. We were informed that they would give us an upgrade. The ungraded room had not been cleaned. My partner contacted reception that the room had not been cleaned and asked for another room. We were told that there are no other rooms available and they would organise a housekeeper to come to the room. I stood in the hallway for 1hour and 30 minutes waiting for the room to be cleaned. My partner went back to reception asking for another room which was not available until he asked to speak to the manager who would not come and speak to him, we were then allocated a disabled room, 2 hours after arriving which we accepted. It was just after 2:10 am before we got into the room. They offered a $75 food and beverage voucher to offset the inconvenience, there was no offer of baggage assistance and no offer of directions to our room. It was a very disappointing experience for us and we will not be staying there ever again. We ate in the Rainforest Cafe 1 evening which was the only time we felt unwell after a meal.

Room Tip: The room was warm most of the time. We were unable to reduce the temperature of the room which appea...

Everywhere you need to get to is a very long walk in this hotel because it is so huge. Its also at the end of the strip so even when you reach the outside, you have a long walk. The whole place has a peculiar unpleasant smell which seems to cling to you but I guess its to mask the smell of smoke etc. There is piped music and noise everywhere and there is nowhere that is peaceful but that's Vegas. Our room was a deluxe king and I was a bit disappointed with it. It was nothing special, the linen on the bed had a rip in it, and the toiletries seemed cheap and very poor quality. Everything is available in the hotel if you don't mind paying a lot for it ($6 for a bottle of water) and there is a daily resort fee of $25 in addition to the room rate. The Internet doesn't work in the food court or at the pool and the pool closed at 7 pm which was irritating if you have been out all day and want to use the pool in the evening. Why close it at 7pm when the temperature is 90 degrees plus outside? Couldn't wait to leave!

This was my first visit to Vegas. The Casino is huge same with the entire hotel was easy to get lost especially getting back to the room I went to wrong floor a few times as the all look similar. The location is at the end of the Vegas strip and close to the airport and university. But made it easy to walk up one side of strip and walk down the other side back to hotel. Will be back

first time to vegas i booked this after reading reviews and checking prices. Room was VERY nice. we didnt ask for a strip view so our view was of the roof. it didnt matter to us. room had a retractable room darkening shade which was good. nicely decorated. i like firm beds these were a little softer but still very comfortable. tv was good.
Beware that if you book and get a food and beverage credit, it can only be used on certain restaurants. and they are very expensive and you better like that , as i call it, foo foo food.
we also stayed 2 night across the street and NY NY and i preferred the MGM for room quality.
If you want a great cup of regular coffee and the best homemade croissant go across to the NY NY hotel and go to IL Fornaio......its was to die for. i wanted to try the homemade muffins but it was our last morning there. check in was a bit slow but it was 3pm on saturday, needed more personnel. Get prepared to pay 3 bucks for a bottle of water...either go to the cvs or walgreens to get it cheaper. THE cheapest place for all bottle drinks and souvieners is a place called THe Grand Canyon Experience. ITs just a block or 2 down from MGM on the same side of the strip. 79 cent water and on the weekend they are 2/1.00
