“Celebrating B-day Vegas Style”
Reviewed February 13, 2013

The hotel overall was wonderful. Me and my friends enjoyed our stay. The Personal Concierge needs to be more personal. I was given a direct number to the Prime Suite for a Personal Concierge in which the phone line was never answered.

Dear Janel C:

Despite the regrettable oversight committed by our Concierge staff, I am pleased to learn that your stay with us was nothing short of “wonderful.” Serving the many fantastic guests who walk through our doors is truly a labor of love, and one that we gladly meet each day.

We are honored that you chose MGM Grand as the site to celebrate your birthday milestone. We can’t wait to see you and your friends again soon!

Sincerely,

We stayed at the mgm grand from Feb 6-11. Paid to upgrade room only to get there to be told the hotel was sold out and we had to take a basic room instead. No offer to compensate us or anything. Hotel was nice, busy due to the 4 conventions going on. Food was decent, room was small but decent. Will return but maybe not to the same hotel.

Dear Danielle C:

We appreciate the insightful feedback you provided us through TripAdvisor. Critiques like yours help us to better understand our guest’s perceptions, and identify areas that may be in need of improvement.

I deeply regret that we were unable to fulfill your room request during your stay. Meeting the individual preferences of our guests is a top priority for us, but unfortunately reliant upon our prevailing room inventory and other mitigating factors such as unexpected stayovers. MGM Grand strives to create a premier Las Vegas resort destination unlike any other. In many instances, we meet and exceed these goals through impassioned dedication and an unmatched array of breathtaking hotel amenities. However, it is clear that despite our efforts, in your case we fell short of this goal.

Your patronage is extremely valuable to us, and we will rededicate ourselves to a better service experience in the future.

Sincerely,

I've been here at least four times and each time is a new experience. The previous year they had Studio 54, now they will have a Cantonese lounge/restaurant named Hakkasan. They've renovated most if not all the rooms in hotel. Check-in is very swift and accommodating. The standard rooms are large, clean and inviting. Check out the Cirque du Soleil show, KA, where they do an awesome production using a mechanical stage that part-Transformer, part-steampunk.It's a must see even if you saw it before. Because the hotel is the largest in the US (5000 rooms), our convention usually totals about 17,000 attendees. We nearly pack in the Garden Room Arena.

Room Tip: Protip: Try to get rooms on the South Tower near the lobby entrance. Preferably quieter are the top...

MGM Grand is the flagship of the Las Vegas Strip, which means we work nonstop to offer the newest amenities, friendliest service, brightest stars, and state of the art facilities to continually stay ahead of our competitors. I statyed at the MGM Grand one night only due to extremely cheap airfare from Denver. I just flew in for the day so dont have a lot to tell in this review but wanted to at least cover the newly refurbished rooms. I have to say that I was very impressed. I had not stayed at the hotel for a few years and the new rooms look amazing. I had a regular king room and the bed was very comfortable in fact so much so I didnt wake up once all night long unlike I sometimes do even at home. The bathroom has been done over as well and has a granite counters etc. New carpeting completes the room as well as a HDTV with a dock for all your electronics like blu ray player, dvd, ipod etc. I can recommend this room at least with no problems whatsoever.

As far as the hotel the staff was courteous and polite during the time I was there and I had only a slight problem which may or may not be one for you and had nothing to do with the staff just the hotel itself.

At some of the other properties owned by MGM I have sometimes stayed in a suite. Due to my play I wanted to see if I could get an upgrade from the regular room to a suite and it was only a slight bit more I was told by telephone but could not get one until I got there based on availability. Unfortunately when I arrived one was not available. I kind of had a problem with this as far as not knowing what kind of room I would have before I got there. As mentioned I usually can just book a suite for whatever rate my play allows at some of their other properties so was kind of disapointed as I had set aside enough funds just in case. This may not be an issue to you.

Finally as mentioned in other reviews this is a large property with plenty of games of all kinds and demoninations and plenty of dining options etc. Only the room thing keeps me from giving it five stars as I myself might choose another property strictly based on room choice. If not an issue for you , you should have no problems here hopefully at all as with the new rooms and amenities they are a great property.

Dear vgasdude:

Aren’t the new rooms amazing? We’ve put quite a bit of effort into their renovation. But, complimentary remarks from guests like you make our collective and often exhausting efforts all worth while. And we’ve only just begun!

This April, MGM Grand will proudly unveil Hakkasan, our new multi-level restaurant and club which is sure to revolutionize nightlife here in Las Vegas. We also have new dining venues and other exciting changes in store throughout 2013, so MGM Grand will definitely be at the top of everyone’s “to do” list for many years to come.

We are humbled by your remarks, and eagerly await your return!

Sincerely,

We have been staying at the MGM Grand for 10 years. We would recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Las Vegas. The hotel is clean and the staff are curtious and anxious to please. Although we have had offers for other hotels we feel at home at the MGM and we are looking forward to visiting again next year.

We stayed at the MGM for 5 nights 6 - 11 Feb, we arrived about 2.30pm and were checked in straight away , I asked for an upgrade but the lady at check-in (Lea was her name) said she could not do anything that night due to a large convention (she did try) but she said if we headed back to see her the next day then she could try and upgrade us then (tipped her for trying and being helpful)

We were given a room on 10th floor and it may have been the smallest room the hotel offers but we had no problems with it , we liked the updated room and decor and found no privacy issues with the shower/toilet lay out (previously mentioned in other reviews) and we had a partial strip view. It was a long walk from the main lifts , we did not find this an issue in the slightest however just feet away from our room were lifts that went to the West Wing bar and connected right out to the strip.

As we were happy with our room, we decided not to move however due to the fact that Lea was trying to find another room for us we felt it was only fair to go and let her know. When we told her we didnt want to move rooms , she went to see her manager and reappeared with 2 tickets for Ka , we were not expecting anything like this and the show was excellent (big thanks to Lea)

We also ate at Wolfgang Puck's on our last day thanks to comps from Mlife and it was the best meal of our trip, we didnt use all the credit on food despite having 3 courses each and the waiter gave us a box of cookies for the flight home which was a nice touch.

During our entire stay , all the staff we dealt with were friendly, knowledgeable and helpful and we would have no problems staying at this resort again.
