This Hotel & Casino is Fabulous! Entering the lobby we were greeted immediately and taken care of as if we were celebs. Our room was beautiful and immaculate. This typically is not our level of accommodation but we couldn't pass up the great price when we booked. If you have the opportunity Check out MGM! The staff will own you! they really did make us feel we were they're priority.

Very much a 'Grand' hotel. Ideal location on The Strip. Absolutely huge hotel - easy to get lost! Pool area is fantastic, lots of pools to choose from - quieter ones if you want a peaceful rest or noisy if you want everything going on. Only went in one of the bars, tended to prefer across the road at the Bar at TImes Square in New York New York.

Check in was very quick and easy. The one thing that did have a long queue was to store the luggage the day we checked out. I think if you go near check-out time, you get this everywhere. Bus stop outside the hotel, so easy to get anywhere on The Strip, the outlets or Downtown.

Room was nice enough but not one of the rooms that had been renovated. Didn't like the bathroom arrangement - no actual bathroom, just an area as you entered the room that had a glass door to the shower (good shower!) and a glass door to the toilet! Long walk from the main lifts to the room, corridor to walk down that was so long that you couldn't see the end - we thought there were mirrors - but no! Housekeeping always carried out and friendly staff.

We didn't get any disturbance from the building works going on,

For the price it was good, if you want a decent location, casino onsite, lovely pools, a classic Vegas hotel, then this is for you.

This hotel is huge, over 5000 rooms ! So there is lot of people in there, all the time. The rooms are great for the price, but ask for a high floor, lower floors are having views on the roof of the casino.
We where first on the 4th floor with no view and asked for another room, they gave us a room on the 27th floor with view on the New York New York Hotel, very nice, and the room was bigger.

My only negative comment, it apply to all casinos but MGM is the worst we saw, it stinks in the Casinos, lot of smoke, people are smoking cigars and cigarettes all the time, after an hour it's tough for the eyes. and the nose !

Room Tip: Ask for high floors

From the moment we stepped into the MGM we were amazed by its grandeur. Check in was efficient and we encountered no issues. Our room was next door to friends we were travelling with which was ideal. We used all of the facilites and were not disappointed. The metro came in handy as everything looks nearby in Vegas but once you start walking you discover that it isn't that close (optical Illusion). The buffet for breakfast was great as there was plenty to choose from and they never ran out of any item. Would we stay here again? Yes, we found that there was a good range of restaurants and bars within the hotel but also because of the location it was also within walking distance of other restauarants etc. Obviously because of its size and depending on where your room is it can take 20mins to walk from one side of the hotel to the other so something to bear in mind if you are meeting impatient friends. The other bonus to this hotel is the swimming pools and each one caters for adults or adults and children, we found the best one was the Directors pool. We had no issues with the room very spacious, clean and comfortable. Overall a very enjoyble stay it was a shame it was all over too soon.

The work being undertaken did not bother us at all and we did not hear any noise when we were in our room. We even received complimentary chocolates from the hotel. Everything we asked for we got - room on high floor for views, non smoking room and two beds. Check in was quick and efficient. We were able to have a late check out time on the last day with no additional charge. It was good that we could check in online for the return flight from the hotel - there are several computers allowing this facility.
The hotel is the biggest we have ever stayed in but the service was excellent. The rooms were cleaned, beds made and towels replaced every day. All the domestic staff we saw were friendly, all smiling and saying Hello.
The food at all of the places we ate was excellent, a special mention must be made of the Grand Wok - do eat here it is excellent.
The CSI Experience was highly anticipated and did not disappoint. You really felt like a CSI officer in the outfit, following the clues to solve the crime.
The monorail is useful to get to places but the Deuce buses are the best value for getting around.
The Red Bus Tour is good for getting your bearingsif it your first visit and the night tour is fantastic, especially the visit to Freemont Street - one place definately not to be missed.
The only downside to our stay was that on the Sunday there were lots and lots of children, mainly girls, who were attending the Justin Bieber concert. Some of the children had no adults with them and we saw some who had been dropped at the hotel at 9.30am with no adults at all. We tried to stay out of the hotal after the first encounter as it was difficult, at times, to navigate a route through the hotel. Other than that we would recommend the MGM Grand as a hotel to stay in when visiting Las Vegas. It is in a great location for seeing the sights and there is a bus stop nearby plus the monorail in the hotel.
Visit the Grand Canyon shop to buy inexpensive souvenirs and gifts. Bottled water is only $1 for 2 bottles - best value anywhere.

Room Tip: Rooms on high floors have views and Grand Queen rooms are excellent.

Me and my travel partner in our middle 20's stayed at this hotel for a week including Labour Day weekend. The hotel location right on the Strip was perfect. Though we had a room of category "Standard" it was very nice: modern furniture, good style, very clean, wide windows with a view of the main street and mountains (if you look further). The personnel of the hotel is very helpful and friendly. On the check-in we asked for a room with a view of the pool, they didn't have one as it was a busy weekend but we got 2 free tickets for the evening humorous show which took place there the same night and it was REALLY good. I would higly recommend it to everybody!
As for the pool area it has 2 major sections: free area for the guests of the hotel (about 6 different pools including the Lazy river pool) and a party place for adults - Wet Republic (2 quite small pools). Wet Republic place was rather dissappointing as pools were too small and simple, water is not that clean as in other pools and no sunbeds for free. On Labour Day weekend the entrance price to Wet Republic was 50$ for girls and 80$ for guys unless you were on the list. To be on the list you have to book it beforehand (at least a month before) on their website. So we had much more pleasurable time out of the area of Wet Republic.
Also for nightlife this hotel is not good. It had only 1 very small club/bar working so we had to go to other hotels (Encore, Hardrock, etc.)
As for cafes inside the hotel they were significantly more expensive than other places around.

We always split our week in two, hubby picks the first hotel and I pick the second. He picked the MGM because it is on the monorail route and it was great when we stayed there 10 years ago. It has grown but not for the better. Check in is supposed to be at the airport, but when we tried on Saturday night, not only did they close at 6 instead of the posted 11 pm, they would not let us check in at 5:40 because they had already turned off their computers and were counting their drawers. Really? Since when is this acceptible?
Took a taxi to the hotel and stood in their random line (no markings, just stand someplace and try to jump in when someone leaves...horrible for a busy Saturday night). Finally got to a window after 20 minutes only to be told "this ain't a normal window, Platanum players only". No where were their signs stating this, and why did she not tell people when they stood in her area? Another 20 minutes and we did finally get a clerk and a room.
The room was an updated king staywell room, and was wonderful. View was of Hooters...but they cannot all be the strip view. Great room itself but the casino was so confusing, just massive amounts of people everywhere. Staff does not know the restaurants so cannot help you locate any restaurants. In addition, there is a lot of construction going on....they say for another 2 years. This makes getting around difficult if not impossible. There is enough walkig without having to take long long long detours, plus the loud construction noise.
So many really great places to stay in the same price range. We moved to Caesars and had a fantastic experience. Friends stayed at Aria and Bellagio...paid about the same for all and had great experiences. Room was great but the rest left plenty to be desired, and we won't stay there again...too many better options.
