This hotel has an old Vegas charm with stained glass and hardwood everywhere. But the best thing about this downtown fixture is their buffet. Truly a bargain in a city with many buffets to try, the ambiance is grand. There are high ceilings with chandeliers and statues in the dining rooms. The buffet stations wind around into several rooms with salads, Italian, Chinese, and American foods and so many desserts to choose from. The pastry chef shines here. And so many drink choices included in the $8.99 lunch price. Servers were polite and plentiful as well for a buffet meal. On certain nights they have prime rib or seafood. Try this restaurant.

Booked via Vegas.com for a whopping 82$ for 3 nights! And what a great deal. The hotel is a bit dated thats true, but its clean, the room are very decently appointed and large and the price is great. The check in was fast if a bit surly. As mentionned, the room was big, with decent 2 queen beds. LCD TV with limited channels (a trick to get you to gamble?), a clean if oldish bathroom, no wifi (it is available in the lobby), and old fashion wooden blinds in the window which are not conducive to late sleeping. The room faced the highway but it was not a noise problem for me.

The lobby is quite fn, very early 1900s style with old slot machines, player pianos, the infamous bathroom with the Berlin Wall. The parking is free and plentiful. The breakfast buffet is a deal at 7$ with Boyd casino card, and was varied if a bit repetitive...i understand its aimed at Hawaiians who privilege the hotel (chorizo for breakfast, very Pinoy). There is no gym as most of the older hotels here, and the pool is at the California. Did not go, given the 100+F heat.

There is a little farmers market on Friday's at the old bus terminal nearby so you can go there to have some nice pastries, if you are so inclined. The hotel is close to the Freemont experience, and the Crime museum.

Room Tip: book via Vegas.com

Very atmospheric hotel casino, with easy access to the Fremont Street Experience. There is a feeling of a comfortable frontier hotel from 100 years ago. The brewpub is excellent, as is the food. The machines are excellent to play, with a good waitress service. The breakfast buffet is one of the best in Vegas

If you've been there and done that and now just want to visit Vegas for some great food, gambling and over all great experience without all the cost, this is the casino we book every trip. It's off the down town strip but the walk is short. It has the best buffet for breakfast, lunch and dinner plus the Triple Seven bar and restaurant is next door and serve some good sushi and beer. I have the best luck while gambling here although the casino floor is a bit small as far as tables are concerned. The rooms are nice and I'd say they've remodeled at least 3 times in the past 12 years I've been staying here.

Room Tip: Ask for a room opposite the train tracks. I've never been awoken by them but I've seen them...

I stay at Mainstreet Station every time I come to Vegas, staying mainly on comps. I feel like I'm at home with Mainstreet Station. The hotel room is always in good clean condition, I've never had an issue with the hotel. They added new flat screen tv's and mini refirgerators in their rooms. Air conditioner worked great. With running the fan at night it allowed for a great sleep. Heard no hwy noise nor railway noise. Couldn't hear neighbors next door, no slamming of doors. Found myself sleeping way too late because there was no noise to wake me up. Always a good night sleep there. The staff is always friendly, nice to see familiar faces when I stay. I play VP and they have the loosest VP around. Scratch tickets for 4OK. I've only ate at the buffet, good buffet with good prices.

We have been staying at the MSS for the past 15 years, this time we were given a room facing the freeyway as we arrived late, but it really did not bother me, the a/c could have worked better considering it was over 100 degrees outside, the room was now furnished with a new flat screen TV and there was a small bar fridge in the room which came in handy for storing pop, water and beer, the casino is small, did not win anything on slots or keno, drink service was pretty consistent, food at the buffet seemed to have improved over my last stay, all staff are friendly, there is a daily slot tournament which is fun and my husband won the tournment and collected $100.00. The casino is very low key you will very rarely find any drunken idiots at the Main Street, the patrons are more middle aged. If you are waiting to take a bus to the strip catch the WAX it takes you over to the Tropicana and is much faster than another bus and also goes to the airport for $2.00. Oh the bed was very comfy, I slept in 4 hotels this trip and this was the best bed. Until next Time!

We arrived several hours before check-in on Aug. 29, 2012, but the staff at Main Street Station were able to give us our keys & room upon arrival. Very friendly, accommodating, and informative. Our room was clean and comfortable, though as other reviews have stated, the furniture and decorations are outdated. But since we only slept there, it hardly mattered. My only complaints are that the bathroom was on the small side and the pillows were hard. We spent a very comfortable night in a great location - within walking distance of the heart of Downtown Vegas - for a great price.

The best part about this hotel is the restaurant and brewery inside. We ate there 3 times over our 1-week stay in Vegas, and every single time the service was extremely friendly, helpful, and fast. The food was fantastic, too - quality ingredients, generous portions, and all reasonably priced. They brew their own beer on premise, which is another highlight for this hotel. We tried a sampler and enjoyed everything - I especially liked the Marker Pale Ale and my fiance liked the High Roller.

If you're not looking for the madness of The Strip, this hotel Downtown is the alternative I'd choose.
