“BEST location, NICE Hotel, GREAT Pool, EXCELLENT Value”
Reviewed August 12, 2004

My wife and I stayed at the Flamingo from 7/31 - 8/6. We booked on their website for only $100 Sat, and $65 M-Thurs. This is a great price for a major strip hotel. We were a little worried that the place would be old or dingy, but were pleasantly surprised.

Checked in at airport, got a room on the 23rd floor. Room wasn't available until 3:30, but well worth the wait. We had a fantastic view of the south strip including the Bellagio fountains. The king, nonsmoking room (as requested) was clean, large and nice. Nothing fancy, but it had all the necessities. The decor was blue and very tasteful. Their website says that all rooms are completely remodeled now, so don't expect anything pink and tacky. Nice big safe, easy to put all our gadgets, cash and laptop with room to spare. Walls could be thicker, as we could occasionally hear our neighbors or people in hallway. Overall a very good room.

Pool was great. This is one of the best pools on the strip. There are several pools, including one main pool with a waterfall. There is a waterslide too. There weren't too many kids, some, but not enough to drive us crazy - it doesn't take much. Mostly people trying to get some sun and cool off in the pool. There are a lot of chairs, and all the good ones are usually taken. At peak times it is hard to get 2 good chairs next to each other. If you walk around for about 20 min, you eventually get some. There is a nice security guy there that you can ask and he keeps track of what chairs have been vacant for more than 30 min and will give you those. I think the chair situation is tough everywhere and this is no exception. Too many jerks go down right when the pool opens and throw some towels on the chairs and try to claim them for the day. It seems like Flamingo is working to avoid this problem with the 30 min vacant chair limit. There are two hot tubs that are very nice. Lots of palm trees throught the pool area, so there is plenty of shade and sun. The trees have misters on them to cool the place down during the hottest times. Overall this is one of the best pool areas around.

Casino is not too large, not too small. It isn't super fancy, but it has everything you're looking for. I played 2/4 holdem, and vp mostly and didn't lose too much. Drink service is very ood in the poker room, but terrible at the low limit vp and slot area. Could be the area we played in, because we noticed different areas had better service. Cocktails were average to above average. Overall this is an average casino.

Shows were good and bad. We saw second city improv which was very good (had 2 for 1 tickets too). Also saw Bottoms up, which was very cheesy and bad, should have known from the $10 ticket price. We expected bad and got worse.

Ate at the Flamingo buffet for brunch one day and dinner another day. Brunch is great with custom egg/omlette station and a very large selection of fresh breakfast and lunch foods. The dinner buffet was OK, kind of disappointing after such a good brunch the other day. The dinner has all the usual stuff, an average buffet for and average price ($16).

Location - this is probably the best location you can be in on the strip and still be in a nice hotel. It's at the corner of Bally's, Bellagio and Ceasars. All three others are set kind of far back off the strip, so it's kind of a haul from your hotel room to the strip, but Flamingo is right on the strip. Go down your elevator and you're only steps from the strip. This was a very nice feature. The layout of the place made it pretty easy to get around. There is also access to the new monorail system right in back of the hotel.

Summary: Perfect location, low price, Great pool, and nice rooms make this a good choice. I would definitely stay again for the price. It would be a 5/5 if they had quicker room availability, better drink service and fix that Bottoms Up show. Otherwise the Flamingo is fabulous, especially for those looking for great value for their money.

Stayed here August 6th for five nights. Had a problem with first room assigened us. It was very, very noisey - next to laundry room. We complained and were upgraded to a newly renovated room overlooking Caesar's Palace and the Bellagio. Food at Lindy's and the buffet was excellent although service at Lindy's a little slow. Casino had lots of variety and not too smokey. Hotel staff friendly and helpful. Would definitely stay here again and plan to next April.

We stayed at Flamingo 8-9 thru 8-12. Checkin at airport was great but if you have not been there before ask for a map of the hotel or you will be overwhelmed which we were! Tip on shuttle--buy a one way and there are many shuttle services that will be happy to take you back to airport free with just a tip and you won't even need a reservation. Hotel was very nice but be prepared to walk. The place is huge. I did not like the long distance back and forth to the room but I think they have it set up that way on purpose for casino use strategy. The hair dryer in room did not work but we had our own anyway. The room was very clean and had a great view of the wildlife habitat on 16th floor. We earned enough comps to take care of one night free and the nickel slots were fun and paid a nice chunk out to this gal! Hubby stuck with quarters and did not fare as well. Would like to go back to LV when weather is not 116+. The wildlife habitat is marvelous and I love those penguins! The set up is very very nice! Lindy's food was good. I wish there were not as many kids around however, LV should really be for adults who want to get away from all that and take a break! Why torture yourself and everyone around else around you! Leave the 'rugrats' at home and have more fun!

In the last few years we stay often at the Flamingo, because we love it! The rooms are always nice. Last time we got one with a view of Ceasars and the Bellagio fountain that was out of this world at night. The pool at the Flamingo is one of my favorites in Vegas. It has big beautiful waterfalls and a waterslide that is large enough for adults to enjoy. Finally, we always get great customer service from booking to departure.

Stayed at the Flamingo 2 or 3 times before because of it's location and pool. This time, we stayed from August 4th through August 11th.

The Good: The Pool, Venturo Italian Restuarant and location.

The bad: The Pool Police who check the loungers around the pool every 30 minutes to ensure they are in use but ignore the louts who come in on a weekend to have their own private liquer party in the pool. This ranged from stacking hundreds of empty Foster Cans and Miller Lite bottles around the base of the Islands in the pool to pouring beer on themselves and each other while in the pool.

The price of cabs continues to astound. They should do what they do in A.C, have a fixed price for any trip not to exceed $10:00 along the Strip for example. The Monorail was free the last time I came and it astounds me they now charge for it when the people using it our the people injecting money into the Casinos.

These were the only blemishes on a great vacation. George Wallace was a blast as was the Luhau next door at the Imperial (Tuesdays and Thursdays only). One thing to check out the next time you visit is the Dealertainers at the Imperial. These are dealers dressed up as celebrities like Elvis, Tina Turner, Rod Stewart etc. who not only deal but get up and sing every so often. They are outstanding. It made the 6-5 odds for a Blackjack seem like a bargain. I could have watched these people all night long...ooops I did.

I cannot say enough good things about the Flamingo. I have stayed there at least five times and it never gets old. The staff is wonderful and I have never had to wait more than ten minutes for check in unlike a few other Vegas hotels I've stayed at. Just a tip: the Strip view really isn't anything special because all you really see is Casesars; instead, ask for a pool view. It is beautiful night and day and you feel like you are looking into a rainforest.

The pool is the best part of the hotel. It is actually three pools: a fountain pool (it has pink flamingos spraying water across the pool), a waterslide pool (it's actually a bunch of little pools connected by a bunch of slides), and a lagoon pool with waterfalls and little islands. It has got to be one of the best pool areas in Vegas.

I love the buffet, especially for breakfast. It is reasonably priced and is good food. Also, it looks out on to Flamingo's gardens which are absolutely beautiful. There is also a cute little sit down cafe which is good, but nothing special. For dinner, I would recommend finding somewhere else on the strip.

The rooms are huge by Vegas standards. Before the renovation they weren't all that nice and kind of run down, but last time I was there (in June) the entire hotel had been renovated and the rooms were very nice. Instead of the pink theme throughout the hotel, it is more modern with blacks and tans.

One of my favorite things about the Flamingo is it's central location on the strip. It is right across from Caesars, which has great dining, entertainment, and shopping. I think Flamingo is also now a stop on the new monorail system.

All in all, the Flamingo is more bang for your buck and I would highly recommend it to anyone.

We stayed here for 3 nights in July and found it to be excellent. Our room was clean, large and cool. The staff all appeared friendly and the location was superb as you are within walking distance of all the major Casinos. We stayed mid week which meant that the room was great value for money as well. There are a few good value and quality eating establishments in the hotel along with the buffet, which is again good quality. Already planning return trip.
