“Flamingo - great location on the Strip”
Reviewed June 24, 2013

Great location to stay on the Strip. If you're driving it is easy to access the parking garage through the back lane off Flamingo Rd., rather than Las Vegas Blvd during evenings. Check in can be slow like many LAS hotels. Other reviewers have mentioned the Total Rewards check in line up, but there is also several self-check in terminals that some were using (I didn't). I've stayed at the Flamingo a few times before and find it comfortable place the stay. The pool area is alright with a large main pool area and a kids area off to the side. The food service isn't the greatest but options abound within walking distance/.

Room Tip: Bill's Gambling hall is being demolished next door so there may be some noise associated with it...

We have stayed at many various casinos on our trips to Vegas and the flamingo is by far the worst place we have stayed. It is in need of serious work and updates. The carpet is stained and pulling up all over the hotel. The elevators were dirty. There was a hoe in the wall in our bathroom shower that was full of lint and looked like a mouse hole. There was garbage all around the pool that was not cleaned up. The workers at the coffee shop were rude, lines were long rooms were noisy, bed squeaked whenever you rolled over. Do not stay here!

Green Features: I did not notice any environmentally friendly practices. The pool was dirty.

We stayed at the Flamingo for 7 nights. Our first impression wasn't great however. We arrived at 12.20am and had to queue to check in, which took 1 hour! The staff were not apologetic nor speedy with their service, they didn't seem to care that we had arrived on a late flight and just wanted to get to bed. Our room was nice, we stayed in a Fab Luxury room on the 27th floor with strip views. While the room was renovated and looked lovely, they haven't done the bathrooms so they are a bit older style, but still a good size with complimentary toiletries.

Unfortunately, the ice machine on our floor never worked fro the whole week that we stayed there. We did inform the staff, but nothing was ever done about it.

The hotel itself is old but in relatively good condition. The casino is quite cramped, not as spacious as some of the other strip hotel casinos. A few good restaurants are available, as well as shows - we saw Legends in Concert which was great, and X Burlesque which was good too. Carlos n Charlies does great Mexican food.

The Go Pool for over 21's is great, a really good party atmosphere with a DJ, and waitresses taking drink and food orders as you sit by the pool. Get there earlier in the day as the sun-loungers are taken quickly.

In general, the hotel and casino seemed to be so busy all the time. Due to it's location on the strip, as soon as you exit the hotel it's very, very busy in that area. Even from the 27th floor we could still hear the music/announcements etc from the Strip. Luckily, I travel with ear plugs! Vegas is always busy I guess, but this hotel seemed to have so many people everywhere. Further down the strip it seemed much quieter, e.g. down near the MGM Grand etc.

I would recommend this hotel for it's location and the Go Pool is great. Not good for families as it's too noisy and busy for kids I think. The wildlife habitat is lovely and pretty cool to see the flamingos.

Room Tip: All rooms seem to hear the noise from the Strip. I would go for a Fab Luxury room which has strip vi...

I had a pink hotel in Hawaii, now in Las Vegas its also pink! Its very clean and its right at the strip where all the action is. The Cafe downstairs was very handy and the people are extremely hard wired to smiling. Lobby was clean, room was clean, tidied up every time we left for the day ready for us to use at night, bathrooms clean and doesnt smell of anything at all. And the pillows were fluffy and soft. Very happy with my stay.

This was our second time staying at the Flamingo- for it's location and Go Pool. We opted NOT to get a GO room, as the amount of time we spent in the hotel wasn't worth the extra money and the regular room suited our needs. Plus it was recently renovated- so it was clean and no smelly carpet :) The downside- the rooms having a joining door- I could hear every single thing that was going on in the room next to us. Upon arrival you should ask for a room that is closer to an elevator than not. Some of our friends were very far away and it felt like a marathon to get back and forth to their rooms.

We waited over an hour to check in- that was super annoying. We paid for early check in (it was a long flight and I was very cranky) as we arrived before 4pm. In hindsight, I probably could have saved 25 bucks, put my luggage in a friend's room as we spent the entire morning /afternoon by the pool anyway!

The Pool was a little bit of a let down this time- the bucket of beers have gone up to 30 bucks (they were 20 less than 2 years ago) and during the weekdays (we were there end of May) there was no pool side black jack- which is what we were so excited for. Perhaps this is because we were there in May not July/August? Also, when the black jack tables are open they are 10 dollar tables (they used to be 5) and the lovely pink souvenir cups have gone up to 25 bucks... :S (I believe they were 18 before). Overall I was pretty sad about the changes, (specifically the 5 dollar tables) but whatever. The pool atmosphere is still a great time- great music and a lot of entertaining guests to watch.

Carlos and Charlies was a great place to meet everyone before or after dinner- a good place to catch up on sporting events and have a beer or grab some quick dinner.

The location of the Flamingo is pretty awesome- you are close to everything, and the casino itself is fine, nothing special.

If you have time go to the Wynn for the buffet breakfast- it's 20 bucks and has the most amazing breakfast buffet food. The line may seem long, but it goes quickly. It will be worth your while.

Overall, the Flamingo is a good value. The rooms are inexpensive and the hotel is located in the heart of the Strip. For those of you, like us, who frequent The Flamingo because we love the pool, beware. The main pool is for patrons 21 & over only, in a weak attempt to make it a 'party pool' like some of the big Vegas competitors. It is far from that. Except for a mediocre DJ, there is nothing that makes the pool a 'party pool'. Quite the contrary, actually. The pool is full of 'amateur drinkers' who can't handle their alcohol. Each day, at least one person had to be removed from the pool area using a wheelchair as they were too intoxicated to walk. Empty beer cans/bottles were everywhere around the pool. We like to party and don't necessarily mind, but The Flamingo pool has become rather 'trashy'. We will be looking to find a new favorite Vegas hotel for our future visits.

Let me start off by saying my wife and I went to Vegas 8 times last year (and that was one less than the year before.) So we've stayed just about everywhere on the strip and downtown. We got to the Flamingo at 1pm and found out that the Flamingo has moved the check in time back to 4pm...so that the can charge you an early check in fee of $30 on top of your room rate and on top of your resort fee. Just a pathetic money grab by a poorly managed out dated hotel. I just erased 4 lines of compaints because I remember what my Mom said, if you dont have anything good to say...
I don't think I've ever given a bad review because I believe that your vacation is what you make it. I just hate being taken for a fool with all the unhonest fee's.
