Really not bad for the price. A good value. The gardens were very nice.
Restaurants not very good.

My family and I have travelled around the world quite a lot and this was the worst hotel we have ever stayed in. Check-in took 1 and a half hours and the check-in assistant said the queue earlier in the day had been 4 hours. We met someone who had put her bags with a bell-boy 4 hours previously and her bags still hadn't materialised in her room.
She advised us to take our own bags to our room. Unfortunately with 2 children in tow and several bags, there was a long walk from the check-in, through the casino, past several restaurants to the elevators. Room was the pits - in desperate need of new furniture and furnishings. One of the lamps didn't work, chairs badly marked and safe didn't work. Every restaurant had queues and food wasn't worth the wait. People everywhere - we literally had to fight our way out of the hotel everyday. People packed round the pool. Not a sunbed or chair to be had and to top it off there was a pool party every day from 4pm to midnight with lots of teenagers and very loud music - absolute nightmare for a family wishing to swim after a hard day walking the Strip. We arrived by car so was not able to make use of the airport check-in. We were on a 6 stop fly-drive to California and this was the worst hotel we stayed in - would definately NOT stay here again. A very bad experience.

NEVER AGAIN! My Mom enjoyed her stay at the Flamingo 5 years ago, but after this last weekend (8/8/03) we are never going back. The room was small and dirty - there was excrement on the bathroom counter and toilet paper roll. I dare not touch the bedspread. The floor was not vacuumed. The bartenders ignored me and treated me like a hooker (I was with my Mom!) - and please, I am a senior manager of a major telecom concern and thus do not dress the type. The casino was littered with empty glasses and dirty ashtrays. If you go - be SURE to check in at the airport, lest you wait 30 minutes or more to check in. I did complain and was upgraded to a suite, but, regardless, you can expect 40 minutes or more for room service. Expect also to walk miles to your room.

Let me set the record straight, as my wife and I just returned from a four night stay at the Flamingo. I travel to Las Vegas for business about 6 times per year and this time I went for a relaxing vacation and chose the Flamingo because of the spectacular pool.

First of all, if you are smart and check in at the airport, you will avoid the long line at the hotel. The check-in for Park Place Properties (owner of the Flamingo) is located by Baggage Claim #1. If you check in at the hotel, you deserve the long wait. Also, I slipped the check-in person a 20 dollar bill and got a free upgrade to an executive sized room on the top floor. By the way, we only paid $70 per night. Also, check out using the TV in your room, it takes five minutes. Make reservations through the Flamingo's 800-number. I did a lot of research and no web site or travel agent offered a better rate than the hotel itself.

The pool at this hotel is tremendous and even though it was very crowded, finding two chairs at noon never took more than five minutes.
Don't believe the 7am stories you hear, the pool area is HUGE and there are several locations where you can find chairs. People are coming and going all day long. We never got there before noon and never had a problem. The people crying about getting there at 7am are just lazy.

The only thing I will agree with is the fact that the food is very average (or worse) and you are better off eating somewhere else. For example, there is a fantastic Italian restaurant behind the hotel on Flamingo Rd. called Battistas. For about $20 per person you get a three course meal and free wine. It's a five minute walk. There are hundreds of good restaurants in Vegas, just not at the Flamingo.

Bottom line, if you want to hang at one of the best pools in Vegas, be right in the middle of the Strip and pay less than $80 a night, the Flamingo is for you. Just be aware that it is very crowded. There is no more slow times in Las Vegas. If you want a quiet vacation, go to Montana.

My first time to Las Vegas. Husband and group were at a conference so he's been before. Pool was great - not too bad to get chairs even mid-day. Hotel room was nice. Knew to do airport check-in at Park Place. Had a pool view room, on 16th floor, and was a relatively remodeled room. Bathroom a little small. Lindy's best place for a quick breakfast and/or lunch. Buffet not too bad either. People extremely friendly and helpful on phone or in-person. If could afford it, would recommend Bellagio or Venetian instead, but for a lot less $, this wasn't bad.
