“OK -- definitely, not great”
Reviewed January 20, 2012

We received a complimentary room at the Flamingo. The location was fantastic but nothing special about the hotel itself. We arrived early on a Saturday morning and were allowed to check in but had to pay an additional $28 to go up to our room, even though it was clean and available at the time we arrived. We also upgraded to one of the 'Fab Rooms' for an additional $15 per night. The room is 'Refurbished' and not 'Remodeled', as we learned from the check in clerk. The first thing we noticed about the fab room was the smell of plastic or glue, which got more intense during our stay. We discovered it was from the glue to lay the plastic flooring -- probably coming through the vents or maybe we were just in a newly refurbished room. We requested a quiet room but we placed in a room right under the floor on which construction was taking place. The mattresses and beding was supposed to be new and would have been ok -- but they just didn't get it quite right. The mattress was put on a solid base and so felt way too firm. The pillows were puffy but not very soft and also not that comfortable. The bathroom was just disgusting. The shower head was falling off the wall, there was tons of mold in the peeling caulk and the vent was missing half of it's pieces and also filthy. The bathroom tissue rolls were situated behind the commode so you almost had to break your arm to get to the roll. The towels and shower curtain were surprizing of high quality, though and the toiletries provided were fine. The water never got hot enough and to even get warm water, you had to run it several minutes -- hate to waste water but had to do it just to keep from freezing in the shower. The ice machine gave ice that tasted very metalic. yuk! I gave up on that really quick and just brought bottled water to the room and soaked the bottle in ice. The inside of the elevators really need to be addressed. It almost looked like someone vomited all over the inside of the door and it got stuck in the cracks. The hallways were filthy dirty and there was ever a piece of trash that was left in the hallway for 2 days before we notice it was picked up.
So, we we awakened at 5:30 AM when they started refurbishing the room above us -- we asked to be moved and accepted a downgrade to the regular room and it was surprisingly in better condition than the refurbished room. The carpet was dirty and there was someone else's hair left in the bathroom, stuck to the door and wall, but the shower was actually in better shape than in the previous room. The beds were also more comfortable as were the pillows. We were put on a floor not directly under the construction, so the room was nice and quiet....which was most appreciated after being awakened at 5:30 on the previous morning. I don't like having to change rooms in the middle of my vacation, but am glad to have made the move. I wish the rating had a 2.5, as the first room got a 2 star rating whereas the second room (non-refurbished) really should get a solid 3 rating as it was cleaner and more comfortable.
Of note, the woman that checked us out, Joice, was very helpful and friendly. We checked out at the desk to make sure they removed the upgrade charge for the last two nights and they did get that right. She also offered to take off any credits we had coming to us, so that was also a nice touch. I would probably consider staying here again, but would definitely choose a non-refurbished room as the dirty bathroom, noise and the strong odor was not very appealing.

Room Tip: Margaritaville Casino is just a blast. Nice service and not so smokey. Location is perfect -- mi...

I stayed here in the 80's, stayed here about 10 years ago right after the pool remodel, and last week. The place doesn't feel any older except that the elevators are shamelessly beat up. Check in was quick and friendly but at 10a, our room wasn't ready. There was a special quick room key line at 4p and we checked into their new Fab room. We were on a high floor with a near insulting walk from the elevator but the room and view were nice enough.

As others have written, the floor is wood looking linoleum. The leather chaise is nice and simple Flamingo historical photo and pink sash (or whatever you call it) at the foot of the bed slightly added to the look. The mattress seemed new but the pillows were just awful- as bad it gets. The bathroom was untouched during the remodel and that was dumb because the tubs and shower heads were budget motel looking and the sink drain emptied with a horrendously loud gurgle.

So what does one do at this price- stay at the slightly better Luxor at the end of the strip, the even cheaper Riv or Strat at the other end, or right in the middle of everything in an acceptable room at the Flamingo? I'll stay here again but only if I want to really save on the room price yet not feel regretful, otherwise consider spending a few more dollars and upgrade the hotel.

Room Tip: Ask for upgrade, high floor, strip view- no surprises here.

Got our room for a low price, considering gettig our room for $55.00 booking in september, and the week of our stay went for $150.00!! Our room was very nice, and was overlooking the beautiful gardens and pools from the 8th floor... We love the buuffet at thre flamingo also. Room very quite and clean... Would have given an excellant rating overall, but the bell desk broke the pull handle on the luggage... should have been treated properly... Will stay again...

Stayed at the Flamingo for a quick weekend January 6-8. We had one of the older rooms at the back of the property. The staff was very nice, the room was clean although pretty basic but for what we paid and for its location I was very impressed. This was my first trip to Vegas so quite the eye opener. The only real annoyance was the fact that the room didnt have a coffe maker. I've never been in a hotel that didn't have one.

I had stayed at the Flamingo a number of years before and had a package with air fare and hotel this time and didn't hesitate to pick the Flamingo. Wrong choice. I have never been in a hotel room where I could not take off my shoes. The carpet was not only filthy be had huge stains on it.The bedding was poor at best with repaired sheets on the bed. Very thin blanket and sheet. I went downstairs and waited in line again. They did change my room and upgrades to what was a mini-suite. I did get a $30.00 meal comp. They were efficient and good about the change but I will not go back on my next visit.

Room Tip: The pool area is nice to look at in warm weather.

We love the location of the Flamingo and have stayed there numerous times, but on our last visit, we were blindsided by the fact that we didn't ask for an "upgraded" room and were stuck in an old tower where the carpets were torn and dirty. The room was really dreadful. Will probably stay there again, but we will be cautious about the type of room we get!

If your looking for a party hotel on the strip and an easy walk from all the action then this is your spot.
Its noisy and a bit run down but the staff are helpful and the on site facilities are fine.

I did find it very loud so bring your ear plugs or drink LOADS
