Golden Nugget Hotel
Ranked #89 of 263 Hotels in Las Vegas

I just returned from a 6 night stay at the Golden Nugget and can't say enough about how great our experience was. I was travelling with another female friend and we both felt totally comfortable and safe in and near the hotel. The public areas were lovely and our room was beautiful, well maintained, and the beds were fantastic. The extra vanity just outside our bathroom was a great feature when we both were doing our hair or makeup--great time saver! Anything we asked about or for was completed immediately and I never met an employee who wasn't pleasant. The food in the Carson Street Cafe and the breakfast buffet were excellent (we had the breakfast buffet 3 times and the made to order omelets were a highlight!). Even our experience with the valet parking was prompt and pleasant. We both have stayed in several different Las Vegas properties over the years and said we would choose to stay here again on our next trip to Vegas.

We have stayed at the Golden Nugget several times everything was great only a few minor things that were not so great. First it took us 30 minutes to check in to the Carson Tower they had 3 people handling check out and 1 person only handling checking in. Never was offered coupons to use there when asked about them they said they didn't have any. Then went to buy show tickets on the night before we were leaving and they were handing out the coupons to those that were checking in.
Went to use the computers that they have to print out boarding passes paid $5.00 for 5 minutes would only let me print 1 pass, added another $5.00 still wouldn't let me computer shut downed and when it came up told me that I was out of time. Put another $5.00 and still could not print the boarding pass. Had to print the boarding passes at the airport. Other than that it was a great!

It was our first stay at the Golden Nugget and stayed in a Rush Tower room - it was very nice, clean, and quiet. As far as the location, it was ok if you didn't plan to go anywhere expect Fremont Street and the Premium Outlet mall, but if you wanted to see any shows that are on the strip, the cab ride is going to cost you $20.00 (one way) including a tip for the driver. The pool is ok for the kids, but a challenge to find sun throughout the day, we were forever moving from one location to another. There is a very small pool, I've seen larger backyard pools which is above the main pool area where you are charged $10 for a regular chair and $25 for a lounge. This reserves the chair/lounge for you for the day (not worth it).

I have been to Las Vegas a couple of times and really enjoy the downtown area and casinos compared to the strip. This is the nicest hotel downtown and for the money is a great value. the pool is very crowded so we went elsewhere to swim, but we were pleased with the rooms and the bars/restaurants in the hotel.

Stayed at the Golden Nugget Sep 28-Oct 1 and I have not one complaint. Stayed in Rush Tower. Check-in was very quick and easy. Our room was on the 20th floor and was beautiful. The bed was extremely comfortable, the dual sinks and the rainshower head were awesome. Large Flat screen and free in-room safe, even had bathrobes. I must say the food was average, but that was expected. The wait staff was extremely friendly and quick. But I have to say that the pool was the most amazing part. We stayed one day at the adult pool on the third story of the pool area. Extremely quiet and definitely the place to go if you want sun all day. The next two days were spent at the other pool, which is alot bigger than it looks and it was just as nice. The waterslide was great fun too. My only advice is to get there early and claim a chair. Beach towels are provided at no fee. However, you will not be able to gain entrance to the pool area without showing your room key. Would stay here again over any place on the strip.

I have always stayed at the Fremont across the street but opted to stay here because of the newly renovated pool with the shark tank. I love it! The cafe that is opened 24 hours is a great place to sit and eat in the middle of the night. The casino is always clean looking and very open but still has a homely feel. We love it!

Can't comment much about the gambling. Didn't do that much here, but the hotel was fabulous! We used our Landry's card to get VIP check in and an upgrade to a Rush tower room. VIP check in was great -fast, friendly, helpful -plus snacks and drinks! The pool was wonderful, too. No problems getting chairs -however we prefer to be in the shade and we get up early. I wouldn't say it was crowded though. However, we were there Sun-Thurs.
We ate the buffet a couple of times. Nothing fantastic, but we had a two for one coupon, so I felt like we definitely got our money's worth. We ate at Red Sushi with our $25 credit on our Landry's card, and it was delicious. We also had some Happy Hour drinks and pizzas at Grotto's. I had a few peach bellinis ($3 each) and we split an herbed chicken pizza with goat cheese and caramelized onions -YUM! It was only $7, too ! (during happy hour)
The slide at the pool is CRAZY fast. If you want to see the sharks, etc. as you go through the tube, you have to sit up and kind of stick your arms or legs out to the side to slow down. You DO NOT have to pay for chairs by the main pool. You can rent cabanas and chairs by the adults only pool. You can go to the adults only pool without reserving a chair after 5PM. That pool and the hot tub stay open until 2AM.
I will definitely come back to the Golden Nugget.
My only complaint is no free wi-fi and even if you pay for the wi-fi, you can only use it in your room. I would have liked to surf the web poolside, but it wasn't possible. :(
