We had a great time at the Golden Nugget down on Fremont street. Everyone told me to stay away from Fremont street, but I found it to be safe and clean. I would go back there again. I would not recommend staying in the older section for it doesn't smell too good and is not upgraded.

Food at the Italian place on site was excellent, but the little cafe was terrible.

We stayed at the nugget which was nice. The rooms were clean and the bed was fab. The only downfall was the smoking everywhere in the casinos. Im not sure why the smokers get catered to, and the excuse that Vegas will loose money if the make it non smoking is a crock. There are hundreds of casino resorts in Canada and the US that are totally non smoking. Its just hard to play when someone blows smoke right in your face.

I have just returned from a recent stay at the golden nugget and I want to say it was great. friendly helpful staff great food large clean rooms comfortable beds what more could you want well easy access to the strip and with fremont on its door step. I have zero interest in gambling but I still enjoyed my time here and found lots to do anyway. I would return here anytime it really was a great place to stay,

After few days sleeping in car in the National Parks we arrived to Las Vegas. Grand Nugget hotel was the best healing to our destroyed bodies and souls. The bed was extremely comfortable, their main swimming pool with sharks blew my mind and the Hideout chill pool (without children) was just amazing relax. Plus they have a great hot-tub. Only there was a little to much chloride in it, so it stink in your eyes. The location of the hotel is also great. It's not the strip, but Fremont street is right outside and it offers lot of fun. They also have their own very lively casino and several restaurants with some good value happy hours. Pretty much you can spend an entire week there without ever leaving the area of Fremont street. If you want however The Strip is also pretty reachable by bus, cab or even walk distance (we walked in daytime, wouldn't do night - the area in between seems bit sketchy). Anyway my experience was extremely positive. A good mix of luxury / fun and lively atmosphere for very affordable price.

Outstanding pool and slide, takes you through huge aqaurium.Rooms were nicely appointed except for the $10 coffee pod charge. Pool area had plenty of chairs on a sunny morning, parking garage easily accesible and counter help courteous. Fremont street has a diverse atmosphere.
