Golden Nugget Hotel
Ranked #93 of 264 Hotels in Las Vegas
Reviewed June 19, 2013

I feel that the hotel is very crammed and crowded. I was only there for maybe an hour or two and didn't like it. The pool looks way too small for the amount of people in that hotel. The water looks a bit cloudy too. Peeves, the kids there seemed to be having fun, especially on the slide. There are plenty of seats but again, they are really crammed together. And a note to yourself, if you are VISITING the Golden Nugget and park in their parking lot, it costs $2 per hour and they only take CASH. We did not know this and only had a edit card but she refused to take it. She made a big deal out of it but she let us go.

We are very pleased that we wound up staying at The Golden Nugget on Fremont Street instead of on the Main Strip! Less crowded and more enjoyable. We did go to a Celine Dion Concert downtown main strip and it was superb. The buffets at The Golden Nugget were the best food for lowest cost. Fremont Street was enjoyable day and night; light show at night awesome!

We stayed in the Rush Tower. It was lovely and very spacious. We brought our own Keurig coffee pods as they charge you $10.00 for 4 of them. I found the staff to be very friendly and always looking to help and answer questions. We ate at the breakfast buffett for two morning as we had 2 for 1 coupons so for $11.00 for two that was a great deal. The pool is very nice and we really enjoyed the shark tank in the middle of the pool. The chairs are picked up early so get there before 10 am for chairs. We have been to Vegas many times and now only stay on Freemont Street as we like the smaller casinos and just being able to enjoy our coffee in the am watching the action down there. it is so much cheaper to eat down on Freemont street . We will definitely stay here again. We didn't get charged any resort fees here although I thought I read something about this is coming. I really hope it doesn't as the price is right for this place.

Room Tip: Ask for higher floor away from Freemont street it you want a quiet room.

We stayed at the Golden Nugget and were put in a Jr. suite and the room couldn't have been any nicer. I had some issues with staying downtown, but was very glad we did. The whole Fremont experience is a lot better when you are staying right downtown. Everyone at the resort was very freindly and helpful when needed. I will be staying here on my next trip to Vegas.

Stayed at the Golden Nugget in the Rush Tower. Rooms very clean and staff came in every day to replenish toiletries and clean the room. They took the time to make our stay comfortable and make us feel important even though we did not spend over $150 a night. They are very good about the security of their guests and you must show id every time you purchase something to your room or enter the pool etc. Valet parking efficient, friendly, convenient. Lobby was beautiful, clean, attention to detail. Pool area beautiful, inviting, enjoyed the shark tank and swimming right up to see them. Lots of pool chairs available to sunbathe. Check in only took moments and we were fortunate enough to receive vip check in because front desk was busy. Check was simple as they had express self check out.

Room Tip: We upgraded our room prior to arrival and received a $250 coupon book which we used. We were able to...

stayed 3 nights, what an experience! Room large clean and tidy but no complimentary coffee. The buffet breakfast was first class and what a choice. The fish and shark tank in the pool area was fascinating. The lightshow in the freemont area just outside the hotel was unbelievable. The bus service for the strip was excellent and 8 Dollars per person for 24 hours is good value. Enjoyed the stay at this hotel.

We are just finishing up a 4 night stay at the Golden Nugget. We were in Vegas to attend a wedding so we had a rental car the entire time. The Golden Nugget has a very easy self-park garage (no charge for registered guest) so we came and went many times with great ease. We had two adjoining rooms in the Carson Tower which were large, very clean, with great a/c and beds. I haven't slept this good in a long time. We were on the 22nd floor for the view but wold probably stay lower next time to avoid so many elevator stops in the mornings going down.

The staff here was wonderful. This morning several people walking past me offered a "happy Fathers day" to me which I thought was very nice and personable. The ability to walk from casino to casino and see so much entertainment on Freemont street while still feeling safe makes downtown my favoirte. The strip is nice but just too busy and crazy for me. Also, the pricing on food and drink is much better downtown if you just look around a bit. My neice lives here in Vegas and said they love to have dinner at the Pasta Pirate at the California Hotel (Next block back behind Binions). We took her suggestin and it was amazing and a great value. Many of the employees have worked there well over a decade and work together in perfect harmony with the result being fresh, hot, beautiful plates with excellent service. The menu was very complete and again less than half of what similar plates would cost on the strip.

We bought the Buffet/Gordie Brown combination through travelzoo.com and were very pleased with both. The Golden Nugget Buffet has something for everyone. The Prime Rib and peeled shrimp were very good with the Prime Rib having a nice rub. Salads were great and I had a gumbo soup that was sublime! The best thing on the dessert table was the pecan pie. Like many cruise ships everything looked great but many were just so so. I had the apple cobbler and the apples were too tart, and the crust lacked sweetness. Overall it's a really good value though when bought with the show.

Gordie Brown was outstanding, keeping us and the crowd cracking up throughout the fast moving show. The showroom is on the 3rd floor and has very nice, wide and comfortable seats. The entire theater is intimate, cozy, with great acoustics. His band was outstanding. A great night of entertainment with not a bad seat in the house.

The Pool looked nice but we never used it. There were black jack tables outside in the pool area which I thought was a nice touch. The hotel has a great shoppe called "The Chocolate Box" with reasonably priced handcrafted chocolate imported from Houston. We tried a couple and they were awesome. My wife's birthday is today and they offer large cupcakes in nice little individual boxes that works well for a "mini-cake" for her birthday.

All in all I can't say enough about the well trained staff, the cleanlines of the hotel, the food & beverage department, and the quality of the bedding and rooms. Sure as many reviewers have said, a mini-fridge would be nice, but for the price, this is a great value!
