“Cool hotel”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 21, 2013

The Golden Nugget is a very cool hotel. The pool and shark aquarium are cool to visit and it is perfectly located to go to Fremont St Experience.
The rooms were fairly small compared to other similarly priced hotels I have stayed in on the strip but they were nice and clean.
The staff were very friendly although we were lead on a wild goose chase for lockers in the pool area (there are none) by 2 staff members. It did not impact our holiday.

Room Tip: Rooms in the Carson Tower are fairly small and we did not have a good view.

I am so impressed with the rush tower area of the Golden Nugget. The thoughtful amenities and high end finishes made me feel like I was staying at an expensive strip hotel. No issues whatsoever with checking in and housekeeping comes at at a reasonable time (no one scaring the crap out of u by banging on the door for housekeeping super early). The rush tower rooms are just beautiful! Warm colors, heavy furnishings with leather accents, tall ceilings and the bathrooms... Oh wow! Large vanities with double sinks, rainfall shower head, a true SOAKING tub and a separate water closet. Will definitely return again and again.

I would definitely stay here again, as well as recommend it to anyone going to Vegas. The Strip is cool, but Fremont Street was more my style. "Old Vegas" was a lot more fun, laid back and not to mention cheaper. The Golden Nugget was by far the busiest hotel on Fremont Street. The pool is heated so you can use it year-round. The room was reasonably priced. You don't get anything free in your room, e.g. bottled water, coffee, WiFi, etc., but they also don't charge resort fees because of this. Just bring your own water and Keureg cups! The buffet is delicious and also reasonably priced. Ask for your free coupon book at check-in to save even more money.

The rooms are large and clean but no mini fridge and there is a hefty charge for water and coffee provided in the room. Housekeeping does great with the basics but didn't empty the ice bucket or provide a fresh liner in a week stay. The hotel itself has great restaurants for every budget and Fremont street is lots of fun to stay on. With rates starting around $55 a night for weekdays this hotel is a great deal and a pleasant place to stay.

Rooms are very clean and staff is wonderful. The pool area is beautiful with the aquariam. Disadvantge is it's to far to walk to get to the newer end of the strip. Would be great if they had a tram or some type of pubic transit that would shuttle you from the downtown aread to the newer end of the strip.

The Golden Nugget is the prefect place to stay while in Vegas. Location, location, location. This place is the best location in Vegas. I like the fact that the young crowd stays at the big hotels on the strip and the downtown fremont area is more middle aged groups my age group. The last trip we took a cab to the strip twice which was only about $18.00 each way. Also everything from your rooms to dinning to even souvineers are all cheaper downtown. This is the only place I will ever stay at when I go to Vegas.

PS dont forget the slots pay out better downtown than they do on the strip.

Husband and I love staying downtown. Great gambling, partying, and entertainment. Wouldn't stay downtown with the kids though. Too many intoxicated people at night and not enough to entertain the kids.
