“My husband dubbed it the "cigarette circus"”
Reviewed April 23, 2014

Well let's get real here, I wasn't expecting a five star hotel for $35 per night. Circus Circus made this trip affordable for my family, we did a Vegas/Route 66/Grand Canyon combo trip, so that much I was happy for. The hotel is huge, like huge, the rooms stink like 50 years of burned down cigarettes. We did upgrade for our final night to one of the towers which was a bit better. The activities were fun for the kids, and there is a fro yo place that is excellent. Beggars can't be choosers I guess.

Room Tip: Upgrade to the towers

Dear Elizabeth M,

We’re glad you found incredible value in your stay here at Circus Circus, as well as enjoyable family friendly activities. We do regret, however, any inconvenience experienced as a result of our air quality. At Circus Circus, we employ a powerful filtration system and strict cleaning regimen to offset the ill effects of second hand smoke. Based upon your comments, it appears these practices fell short of expectations. Therefore, we will reexamine this aspect of our resort, and find new ways to ensure the total satisfaction of our guests. We appreciate your observations, and encourage you to visit us again in the future.

Sincerely,

Lori P.

We spent a week on the 31st (i think) floor of the West Tower and found our room both comfortable and quiet. We did have a problem with the sink draining slowly so they sent someone up to fix it quite fast. The LOBBY on the other hand was always a zoo with tons of people waiting to check in/out. It took us about 45 minutes to get up to the front of the Check-In line only to find that if we wanted to check in early it would be ANOTHER 20-25 dollars! We opted to wait and luckily they let us pick up our key at the Customer Service window instead of waiting in line again. We weren't that thrilled about the additional Resort Fee they added to our paid reservation on Expedia, but we did know about it ahead of time. Just like the airlines, the hotel industry is sneaking in extra fees that some people might miss upfront. This hotel is also on the northern end of the strip, so if you are not used to walking several miles each day, consider a bus pass (which we did as well after a day and a half). They gave us a booklet with coupons to use in the hotel/casino/restaurants/Ride-Arcade area that was useful as well. The hotel does have free wifi which was part of what the "resort fee" was supposed to cover.

Room Tip: ask for a room in the West Tower upper floor - the elevator is relatively fast too.

Green Features: you could hang up your towels if you didn't want clean ones each day.

Dear luvstobike,

Although we’re pleased to learn of your satisfaction with the West Tower, we regret the lengthy delays encountered during the check-in process. Obviously, no one wants to begin their vacation that way, and we empathize with any frustration experienced as a result. We also apologize for the plumbing issue endured, but are relieved to know our maintenance staff offered a speedy resolution. Thank you for letting us know about the particulars of your visit through TripAdvisor, and please don’t hesitate to come see us again whenever possible.

Sincerely,

This year during my conference I was very pleased with two new amenities. First, my room in the Skyrise tower now had a cup-at-a-time Krups coffee maker with 2 cups in my bathroom. That was a great way to start my busy days while there. I did though have one day when my coffee supply was not replenished, even after contacting housekeeping. The other plus was a pleasant aroma in the hallways of the hotel. I tweeted these improvements and received stars from Circus, who apparently keeps an eye on their hashmarks.

Rooms were always clean and in good repair. I did have a colleague who was also staying in Skyrise and his room had a water leak, but it was repaired. The casino and walk from the front to Skyrise is normally crowded with family members poking around. For business professionals, getting around the sight-seers through the gauntlet is amusing at times and frustrating at others.

Two disappointments I think should be pointed out - First, the wifi, something we pay for in our resort fee, is nothing short of horrible. There is plenty of signal, but very little water in the pipe. I am not expecting to stream videos, but I should be able to send email with delay. Even that proved to be challenging.

The second thing is the express checkout. In of itself, the express checkout went fine as I checked out using the TV with the option to get the receipt via email. Two weeks later I am still waiting. I tried calling billing and was put on hold 3 times for over 20 minutes. That is inexcusable. During the hold a recorded voice offers their email address so, exasperated from my phone experience, sent an email with my reservation and confirmation number. The only thing I got back thus far was an automatic reply saying it will take 7-10 days to 'process' my request. Really? Oh, and they offer that number again for more expedient service. Awesome.

Dear TVSAM1,

Although we’re glad to see that you enjoyed your hotel room and the cleaning detail our housekeeping staff provided, we regret the WiFi connectivity and billing challenges encountered during your stay. Both are regrettable, and not in keeping with our commitment to service excellence. We will forward your concerns to the appropriate management staff for additional review, and hope that despite the shortfalls experienced, you’ll continue to include Circus Circus in any future travel plans to Las Vegas.

Sincerely,

This was the best time I've had in Vegas. All my family stayed at Circus Circus, we stayed up all night and had a party the next day. We were treaty with respect. One staff member helped us through the mess of elevators to out destination. The whole weekend was fun

I loved my stay at Circus. The room was roomy and very clean with great furniture. Everything seemed very new. I enjoyed the new restaurant and the food was the best. At the tables I found very patience and friendly dealers. I was disappointment when I got there and they informed me there was an additions 45% tax on the room each night. That almost doubled the price of the room.

Room Tip: The room was great, just make sure the person in the room before you did not have the internet block...
