We stayed at Arizona Charlie's back in May of this year, and found it to be to our liking, so decided to give it another try over the Christmas break, and possibly beyond too, in fact as I write this I am staying there.
Upon arrival it was like we were long lost relatives, the girls at the gift shop gave us a big welcoming hug as they remembered us from our previous visit, and it was nice to see their happy smiling faces. In fact, a big shout out goes to Kim in the gift shop, who actually gave us a Christmas card and present too, which was a really nice and unexpected touch.
Checking in was hassle free having spoken in advance to the legendary casino host that is Lillian, if you enjoy gambling make sure you introduce yourself to her or the team in the casino host office as they will always look after you.
Once again the room was very clean and presentable, and even one of the cleaning team recognised us and came over and said hi as we were moving into our room. It is little touches such as these that does make you feel very welcome at Charlie's.
Being from the UK our body clocks are out of sync with everybody else’s, however the 24 hour bingo hall is a great way to pass the odd hour or two when wandering around at 3am in the morning wondering what to do, and the girls and guys that are working they couldn’t be more friendly.
The comps are top notch here, and it looks like they offer something on each day of the week, we accumulated plenty of gift cards and comp points gambling in the casino, and even wine stoppers playing bingo.
Even the cashiers team and security team are always stopping to chat and say hi, maybe it’s our English accents that they are eager to hear as we didn’t come across anyone from the UK staying here, but if you are you must do so as you really will feel like you are at home.
The place always feels safe and secure, and they do have security cycling around the rooms/suites which are located away from the actual casino, which does make it a good place to stay rather than staying on top of a casino, which you are forced to do when staying at other casinos, and that could see you not getting much fresh air or sunshine.
The buffet is as good as to be expected and doesn’t cost a fortune, had a few meals at the Sourdough Cafe, the only thing I have to complain about was one of the meals we had there, the steak just didn’t taste right.
But sadly the lady in charge didn’t seem too concerned that we had sent the steak back and decided to not have another one and simply knocked that off the bill, perhaps she could have handled that better.
All in all this is a place to visit if you do enjoy gambling, but always want to be far enough away from the crazy Vegas lifestyle but close enough to get over there and into the heart of it as and when.
I must congratulate the manager as he or she really has the place running like a well oiled machine, and the staff all appear happy in their work which is reflected in their friendless. We will probably stay for another week or two, as we have some spare time from now and into the New Year.
