“Try the Suites...”
Reviewed December 17, 2013

I just returned from my first visit to ST in a couple years. The suite I stated in this time was different than the mini-suite I had in the past. I'd recommend it for anyone who wants to splurge a bit without paying anything close to the prices you'd find on the Strip.

Really, I've seen smaller apartments. Kitchenette, full living room,. dining room table, bedroom with Jacuzzi, stall shower, toilet and separate bidet. Both the living room and bedroom has a nice size flat screen TV. The room overlooks the Mystic Falls show, which is always nice but gets old after a while.
Housekeeping was very accommodating (do tip them a few bucks on a daily basis...you really don't want their job!)

Complaints were minimal: the pillows were hard and the towels had a burnt smell to them. I imagine you'll have the same issues in the regular rooms as well.

Outside the scope of the room review, I had comps for all the restaurants (and the room itself) and tried three: Billy Bob's, Willy and Jose's, and TGI Fridays. I think the food quality went downhill at the first two since my last stay. The steak at Billy Bob's was dry. No better than what I'd have at Outback or Texas Roadhouse. The Mex food at W&J's was mediocre (though the Margaritas were excellent.) Rent a car if you stay out here; there are other good options for dinner within a reasonable drive.

Casino tends to be smoky when crowded but the staff is extremely friendly at the tables. They'll know your name after you play once or twice. They really made my visit special (no, I didn't win, unfortunately!)

Room Tip: Splurge. Go for a suite,

frequent Sams Town at least couple times each year. this year early birthday present to self - had a wonderful trip! got to enjoy comp room and meals because of card play - easy to earn points and benefits are a plus! away from the crowds on the strip but can take shuttle if you'd like just to get a bit of the action. Sams Town has the old Vegas feel which I like - not the new, all that glitters, bigger not always better, Vegas. love the BINGO hall and the staff is excellent.

Room Tip: interior rooms are nice to see the light show in the evenings

Sams use to be a good place to go and stay, but the up keep of the place is goining down. The rooms are not as clean as they use to be, more dust and dirt, got sick. We cleaned the room, before unpacking. There for a tournament. The buffet is a joke, same old food. Tired breakfast as well as lunch and dinner. Go out and eat is your best bet. Rest rooms are not like they use to be clean. But back to the room vents need to be cleaned out something at Sams made me, my sister and a friend and husband sick and God knows who else!! Carpet so old that they piece milled parts new with old and you could tell right away. Looked uncleaned. Complained before, but they don't care! They do not even answer so why bother to write. So should you go to Vegas and you are feeling well and want to stay well, do not stay at Sams Town Las Vegas. Oh by the way they have a non smoking areas, which are really not non smoking, breathe in the smoke. Also was asked if my sister and I wanted one bed, very insulting be exact, found that out of place to be asked.

Room Tip: Check the place out before making reservations, because when you get there, it is never what you ask...

Thank you for taking the time to share your thoughts on your recent visit. I am very sorry that you found your accommodations to be less than satisfactory and am certain that when you brought it to the attention of the Hotel Manager that she took steps to see that everything will be properly and immediately tended to. I apologize that this marred your trip and sincerely hope that you will decide to visit us again and offer us the opportunity to better meet your expectations.

When you join the BConnected club which is the hotel's casino card, you get discounts on many things and notices by email about the specials. First we got rooms for less than $50 per night and it also gave us a $10 per day food credit at the eating establishments owned by the hotel. This was in addition to the specials we would have already gotten at those same places without the food credit. WOW! Two of us could have a great buffet breakfast for $2.95. Nice enough rooms but do need more lighting. No in room safes or coffee pots. Can order a refrigerator separately.
Pool area far away from hotel rooms and couldn't use in cold cold winter weather anyway.
Lots of casino areas and game tables. Free music and dancing each evening. Beautiful middle park area indoors with laser light Mystic Falls show several times during late afternoon and evening. Good restaurants and fast food cafes as well. Huge bowling alley and huge movie theatre with 18 different rooms for everybody from morning until late at night. Bingo hall with an awesome twice a year bonanza play for two days that includes room, food and all day games with prizes starting at $5,000 and the blackout each day is for $100,000. Next one is May 2014 and we are really considering doing this one. Free bus shuttles that will take you to and pick you up from the Strip dropping you off at Harrah's and then you can go from there on the strip. Saves you any car driving in that frenzy area or paying for taxis unless you come back late. Same shuttles will take you to downtown Vegas at Fremont street as well. We used that everyday to see all the parts of Vegas. Just used the Monorail behind Harrahs to travel up and down the strip and Fremont street is walkable anyway.
Only disappointment was that we were told when we checked in after having made the reservations almost two months ahead of time that our rooms were comped! We were shocked but so overjoyed to hear this. We asked if then that $10 food credit was no longer applied and they said sure you can still get that, too and that our deposits made two months before would be refunded to our credit cards. WOW! WOW! we were thrilled. Luckily, during the four days we did not take those funds and spend it during our stay because at check out day on our televisions there was a final bill with the amount for each room we would have normally owed after our deposits were subtracted. Lots of loud conversation downstairs at the desk with the assistant manager who said that the check in attendant must have misread the food comp as a full comp or something like that...don't know for sure how that could be as we thoroughly asked lots of questions at the time we were told we were comped. But we hadn't thrown those funds away, thank God!

Room Tip: Don't get right next to the elevators.

My wife and I stayed at Sam's Town recently and were pleased with the experience. The room was a good size with the usual amenities, the bed was comfortable and the surroundings were clean. We had a room facing the atrium and were impressed with the view.

The casino is quite large, as big or bigger than most of the casinos on the Strip. Like all casinos nowadays, it is difficult to find an old fashioned game of blackjack and instead one will be treated to every new game that the latest statistical whiz has dreamed up. Accordingly, the wife and I did very little playing while there. We don't play slots, but the video poker machines were fun and didn't take us for too much.

We enjoyed our visit to Sam's Town very much and will return in the future.

Room Tip: Outside rooms are cheaper, but atrium rooms are worth the extra money.

We have been to Las Vegas three previous times but decided to stay off-the-strip for our latest trip 11/23/13-11/27/13. Sam's Town was very clean and modern and offered all the casino table and slot games as all the big ones. Lots of restaurants to choose from and even has a bowling alley which was only $1.00 per game after midnight. About 7 minutes from strip but well worth the short drive for the price difference and amenities. Would highly recommend. Great bargain!!!

Stayed here last week with my family and Terrible for 3 stars! Signs around the hotel were very confusing. The walls needed painting, desk, table and TV stand all needed new finishing and all we're chipped badly. The beds were hard and lighting was old. Now I understand why the price is so cheap. Will Never stay here again.
