We were in Vegas and decided to visit Sams Town, we took the shuttle from Harrahs for free. Sams town has a nice in side area with trees and mountains and a water fall, very nice. The Casino was large enough to enjoy a day of slots. We felt the slots were better at Sams Town then the strip. We also ate at Billy Bobs steak, had the special for 14.99, good deal for steak. We will return when in Vegas.

Room Tip: Nice place to visit when in Vegas

We booked this hotel as a group Easter Weekend - arrived 03/27/13 and departed 03/31/2013. We had several families that reserved rooms at Sam's Town based on reviews on this site. This is the worst hotel I have stayed in based on tripadvisor reviews. After checking in we avoided coming back as much as possible.

Check In: Check in process was long. Valet was not very friendly.

Pool: Pool was closed and not one person throughout the booking process thought it would be a good idea to let us know before we booked (we were traveling with a group of 13 year old boys and their siblings). There were no apologies for this from Sam's Town Staff and they directed us to the RV park to swim. We opted to drive to another location to swim.

Beds: Beds were horrible, hard and bumpy - it was the worst bed I have slept on in a very long time. Bedding consisted of a cheap bottom sheet, two cheap flat sheets with a fleece blanket in between. Pillows were ok.

Bathroom: Sink was really slow to drain. Towels were course, small and smelled terrible.

Walls, ceilings and ledges dirty, lamps had not been dusted in weeks, phone was filthy, light switches were grubby. Looked up in the bathroom and there was hair plastered to the ceiling.

Location: Yes, this place is off the crowded strip, but the area around Sam's Town is pretty rough. It is a 20 - 30 minute drive to locations/attractions.

Food options: We only "grabbed and went" for breakfast while at Sam's Town - the kids liked Dunkin' Donuts. Friday Morning there were fire alarms blinking and going off on the first floor, shutting down McDonalds and the food court. Sunday Morning the McDonalds McCafe machine was broken. TGI Fridays was good, we ate there one night with a big group, and the wait staff was awesome. Otherwise, we ate off site.

Smoking: The smoke in this casino was thick. We know to expect it at casinos, but it seemed thicker than all the other casinos that we visited in the time we were there. On Friday Night, we were getting ready for bed when we smelled smoke in our room. We looked out in the hallway through the peep hole and saw two people sitting in the middle of the hallway smoking. The smoke came through our door and into the room that fast. We called the front desk and heard people running a few minutes later.

Surprisingly, the only nice part of Sam's Town was the housekeeping staff. They were always friendly and bright.

Room Tip: Stay away from the elevator. It sounds like a roller coaster running all night long.

I stayed at Sam's Town for two nights in March, and the experience was wonderful.

I arrived at the hotel sometime between 11:30 p.m. and Midnight, so there was no line to check-in. At first I had a difficult time finding the registration desk since it was located in an odd place (when compared to most casino/hotels). However, if you follow the signs, you'll eventually get there. Hint: It's In between the gambling floor and Mystic Falls Park.

Since I arrived so late, there was a limited selection of rooms available. The attendant gave me a handicap accessible room on the 6th floor, which was fine. This room overlooked Mystic Falls Park, which was a bonus since I had not paid for that upgrade.

One of the good things about the room was that the fan of the air conditioner ran constantly, whether it was cooling or not. This helped to provide some "white noise" while sleeping and was able to drown out a lot of the other odd noises that came during the night.

The bed was very comfortable and the shower provided good hot water and adequate water pressure.

There are many great amenities withing the hotel like several restaurants, a buffet, fast food places, bowling alley, and movie theater. The Mystic Falls show was wonderful as well.

Although this was my first time to stay at Sam's Town, I have eaten at the buffet on several previous trips to Las Vegas. Unfortunately I believe the quality has gone down. It's still a good value, but the food is not as tasty as it once was. I ate at Sunset Station's breakfast buffet on this trip as well, and the food was much better and the price was even a dollar cheaper than Sam's Town.

All in all you can't go wrong with Sam's Town if you're looking for an inexpensive but good quality place to stay. Bargains have disappeared on The Strip, so look further out to Sam's Town where you'll get quite a value!

We love going to Sam's because it's off the strip and quieter....much more suitable for our taste. The staff is friendly and very family oriented. You cant beat the food, absolutely delicious. It's also a real bargain. $5.99 for a breakfast buffet and $9.99 for prime rib buffet. Couldn't ask for a better deal. The rooms are clean and you don't have to worry at night when you put your head down on the pillow to sleep. You're going to get a good nights sleep. We feel very safe in any part of the hotel or casino, even in the wee hours of the morning.

Signed up for B-Connected before booking our room on Sam's website which gave us a 10% discount.
Easy to find from airport, also easy to go to strip using Tropicana, Sahara, Flamingo or along Boulder until it becomes Fremont Street downtown, its about 6 miles from McCarran to Sam's, and about 7 miles from Sam's to the strip. So nobody should get lost.
Self-Park garage is straight in, and the walk to the lobby through the casino is short, with an Old West registration desk on the edge of Mystic Falls, very relaxing with the sounds of birds and waterfalls.
The check-in process was swift and the lady was very welcoming, taking the time to explain the resort fee $4.95 plus tax ( local calls, shuttle bus, etc ), the wi-fi charge $4.95 plus tax ( if required ) and the promotional vouchers for BOGOF Sbarro slices, margaritas, and Keno etc.
She directed us to room elevators behind registration area, two minutes later we were in our room.
First thing we noticed, it was spotlessly clean and in good order, with a view of the atrium laser show. It seems we were lucky enough to be in the upgraded rooms which should have cost $15 extra. In addition to the view, the room had a coffee maker, microwave and fridge, also an in-room safe.
Very happy.
Venturing out of the room the food court choices were excellent, especially with the value of the promo vouchers. For later in the evening, Billy Bob's Saloon was also very good.
The slots in the casino had plenty of choice and we were ahead by $50 when we left so can't complain.
There are plenty of security in the casino and other areas and we felt very safe. The parking garage is also well patrolled by security with no broken glass in evidence.
One other very handy point with the location is the large Wal-Mart directly across the road, ideal for stocking up on water, beers, food etc.
The indoor atrium show is different daytime / nightime, so worth making a point of seeing both.
For the room rate charged, the promo vouchers received, and the B-Connected discount, Sam's Town is very good value.
We did however hear other guests complaining about the wi-fi not being included in the " resort fee " and in fact, complaining about the resort fee period. Maybe Sam's Town need to weigh up whether the extra fees are worth annoying guests, something we experienced elsewhere on our trip also.
For us, we didn't mind the fees, given the low room rate etc, and felt Sam's to be an extremely good value stay, very clean, safe, and lots of fun.
We will definitely return !

Room Tip: Sign up B-Connected before booking online. Rooms on high floors are quieter, and the Park View room...
