“A bit of a Four McSeasons”
Reviewed March 3, 2010

No doubt, this is one of the better properties on the strip. It is great to have an oasis that isn't cluttered with casinos and neon lights. That said, this is the Vegas version of a Four Seasons -- big and institutional.

The rooms and public areas in this property are solid -- they are spacious, attractive, and comfortable but don't really have character. The service mimics the design and is also mass and impersonal. Staff are polite but there definitely isn't any individualized attention and the team isn't as attentive as they should be for a Four Seasons property.

Best things about the property:

- an escape from the chaos of the strip (i.e., not casino / clutter)
- attractive pool area and access to the Mandalay Bay facilities
- solid design that is consistent with the Four Seasons brand / image (stereotypically so)
- nice views down the strip if you have a room with a strip view
- free car service for guests (subject to availability)
- fairly good value (though you kind of get what you pay for)

Issues:

- service is reasonable but not exceptional
- fitness facilities are somewhat limited which seems odd given how large the property is
- a bit bland / lacks character
- far away from the center of the strip
- only one sink in the bathroom (fine if you are on your own)

If I were to return to Vegas, I'd be tempted to try the Mandarin Oriental instead. I popped in for lunch and it seemed like another world -- similarly quiet but much more distinctive with exceptional and very attentive service.

we stayed at the four seasons on a Vegas trip from Australia and could not fault it in any way - loved the hotel, loved the service, loved everything about it.

Just back from four nights at Four Seasons. Service was professional, prompt and courteous. Room service was good, service good. One meal at the Verandah, very good with excellent service. Compared to other Four Seasons the room rate is excellent for the services provided, compared to other properties in Las Vegaas this is on the top price point. Worth it if you desire quiet, nice room with good service and amenities. Would definately recommend and return in future.

stayed here for 2 nights at the end of february 2010... i was at a conference at mandalay bay (four seasons has ~4 top floors of 'the bay'). anyway, the room was very adequate, but not fantastic. the TV armoire was dated and the hinges were not 100% functional, but the big flat screen was nice. not providing free internet service is just silly these days---they charge $15/day for that--a real 'nickel and dime 'move. i did book the room for $160/night through 1800hotels.com which was a nice deal. if i had paid more for the room i would have felt that i was overcharged.

I've stayed at Four Seasons all around the world, and this is by far the worst of any that I stayed at. The staff is very unfriendly and there seems to be a major issue with the overall management of the property. You can expect long-lines and clueless staff members. I'm actually very surprised about all of the positive reviews. I'm thinking that maybe they've had a recent management change that has take this hotel to such a low level. I've had better service at two star hotels, so if your expectations are low you might be okay with staying there...

Well, I'll be a bit of a contrarian. I was expecting more being this is the top rated hotel in a town where hospitality is king. First, the positives. The common areas are luxurious and nicely decorated. The Verandah martini happy hour was excellent. The spa/fitness facility is very well attended to by the employees who are helpful withoug being intrusive.
The rooms have very nice bathrooms.

I had been in contact with Yuki, one of the conceierges, before my trip. I mentioned we were celebrating a birthday and she had a cake sent up 5 minutes after we arrived. It was delicious and very thoughtful on her part.

As has been mentioned in many reviews, this hotel really excels as a respite in the midst of the Las Vegas madness. That was its best feature, I thought. It was close enough to Mandaly Bay where you have everything you could want on a vacation. I am not a meat eater but was surprised how busy the on-site steak house was. It must be great. The beds are nice and the hotel very quiet.

The employees were helpful overall but with a few the Las Vegas attitude comes out (no surprise I guess). The breakfast at the Verandah is way overpriced for what you get. We went there once and didn't go back. The spa and workout room are nice but I am a fitness fanatic and thought the exercise room could be a bit better. My partner had a massage and it was nice but overpriced. We were not offered an upgrade at check-in despite the hotel being relatively empty.

My partner speaks spanish and had a conversation with one of the housekeepers where she was complaining about a certian class of guests and I thought that was inappropriate (on both of their parts). The location is far south of all the action in the central strip. Cabs are expensive. I found the rooms a bit small but that could be due to the oversized and luxurious bathrooms.

If one wants to walk out of the hotel at the street level to go to the stores across the street you have to walk in the driveway. It is also an area that is not kept up very well with trash, etc. The pool was closed. We knew that going in but is it really necessary to close from Nov to March?

Overall I liked the hotel but if it had a different name, like Hyatt or Marriott, I wouldn't have known the difference (Yuki's thoughtfulness aside). And given the deals you can get at a solid four star hotel on the strip I am not sure it is worth the extra cash just because it carries the Four Seasons moniker.
