My daughter & I were in Vegas and didn’t want to miss the chance to see the Grand Canyon. Booked online and all went smoothly. We were only 4 on the tour and Luis our tour guide was amazing! He provided the history, interesting facts and any question we had he could answer. Very knowledgeable and really loves his job! Luis knows the best spots for pictures and took many for us! Don’t shy away from cost. Worth it in every sense. Breakfast, lunch, ticket into Canyon is all included in your price! Will return one day and book this Grand Adventure with Grand Adventures tour company! Truly a memory of a lifetime! Thank you Luis from way down south in Louisiana.
My wife and I were visiting Las Vegas and wanted to see the Grand Canyon. Based on the reviews, we made our reservations with Grand Adventure Tours. So glad we did. First, I will say that if you decide to do this tour, do not plan anything else that day. The sunset tour which we selected picked us up at our hotel at 9:30 am and dropped us of slightly after midnight. From Las Vegas it takes about 4.5 hours to get to the Grand Canyon (this includes a stop at Hoover Dam and frequent bathroom breaks).
Our guide, Alfonso, was amazing, very professional, and an excellent driver !!! He obviously loves his job and is very good at it. We highly recommend requesting Alfonso if you decide to do a tour. He picked us up at our hotel on time and even called me a few minutes prior to let me know he was on his way. The van had 3 other couples on board but there was still plenty of room.
Leaving Las Vegas, our first stop was McDonald's for breakfast (which is included in the tour cost). Alfonso did a great job providing historical facts about Las Vegas and pretty much every area throughout the entire trip. He is very, very knowledgeable about the Nevada/Arizona area and repeatedly begged us to ask questions. The man has a good heart and really cares that all passengers have fun and actually walk away having learned on the trip.
On the way to the Grand Canyon, we stopped at Hoover Dam where Alfonso provided information about the construction of the dam, its history, and the impact on various communities. On the way to the Grand Canyon we made other stops at some pretty neat places along Route 66 for bathroom breaks, snacks, and gas. At each stop, Alfonso did a really great job at taking tons of photos of each couple (from their cameras). It was not until after our trip that I noticed how great these photos turned out.
At the Grand Canyon, we had a sandwich picnic (also included in the cost of the tour) where we learned about the geology of the grand canyon, impact of the Colorado River, plant and animal facts, and just great conversation. Once again, some spectacular photos at sunset. Even though there was a crowd, Alfonso knew exactly where to go for the perfect photo. Be prepared to high-five with a Boom and Boom and Boom.......that was fun.
This was the perfect trip and we would definitely do it again. Thanks Alfonso for your safe driving, tons of great information, and lots of fun.
We went today - looked like one of the higher price tours when I booked it (some do for $90ish) but SO worth it- the trip will take at least 10 hours so the experience needs to be good.. and it was!! We were the only 4 on our tour (other 5 had to cancel last min)- really commend them for not cancelling it/rearranging- I think other companies might have. Pickup very prompt and easy. The max is 10 on your bus anyway which is great as you could pay $90 but be on a huge coach and have to wait for others... McDonald’s and nice lunch provided. Our guide Darryl (hope I haven’t got name wrong!!) was fantastic- gave us so much history about the canyon, Vegas, Nevada... fountain of knowledge!! He was so polite and helpful too. The day is really well planned so you get to the places early when it’s fairly cool and not rammed with tourists... skywalk included- this alone is about $60 if you were to just show up so that’s part of cost of price. Best part was where we did the short hike- AMAZING photo ops and he helped us take pictures. It’s really important to be safe when on the Canyon (some tourists who came alone were way too close to edge) so it was brilliant to have someone who knew all the routes. Was all in hand he had our tickets bus passes etc - such a smooth and stress free experience!! In Vegas where everything seems to have a hidden charge it was so nice for everything to be so upfront and transparent. If you’re going to go to the GC use this company. And I never normally review :)
What a spectacular wonder! People told us pictures do not do it justice they were right. This tour company is top notch and so was Brian our guide! We were an intimate group of 4 - my daughter and myself and another mother daughter pair. Brian was relaxed and flexible with our time at the couple of stops that you make along the way. As well as the time spent at the look out points at the Canyon. The breakfast and lunch that is provided was very good and satisfying. Brian gave tidbits of information along the way that were of interest and added to our experience. I highly recommend this tour company without hesitation!
My wife and I were in Vegas for a few days as part of a larger USA trip. We saw this tour advertised on Tripadvisor and all of the great reviews so we booked it before we left. So glad we did.
Our initial day became unavailable which caused us to rearrange some plans but understood these things happen. We were offered full refund but chose to change days. To the operators credit we got a partial refund anyway for the change. Brilliant and unexpected service. We chose the Skywalk and West Rim Tour.
We were picked up from Hotel early (6.10am) but it is a full and long day so this is necessary. Our guide Rob was great from the outset. Very friendly, caring and attentive. Best of all for us he has been exposed to a lot of Aussies and got our humour, he even tried a “G’day Mate” a few times, just needs a bit more practice and he’ll master it. The tour group is kept small and Rob looked after us all day with water, info and cameraman duties.
We stopped at the Vegas sign for pics, great because only a couple of people were there so early as it gets packed with big crowds later in the day. Next stop was an all you can eat Macca’s; McDonald’s or Micky D’s depending on your origin. Then off to Hoover Dam. What can I say, Dam big, Dam impressive and Dam HOT (117F or 47C). We then headed off on the long drive to the Canyon.
All I can say about the Canyon is that is one big breathtaking and awe inspiring hole in the ground, wow. It’s hard to get a perspective of scale it is just so big and vast. We did the Skywalk at Eagle Point where you walk over the edge on a clear glass pathway. It’s hilarious to see 99% of folks inching around and sticking to the sides which have the support beams. Even some of the Skywalk official photographers didn’t walk in the middle but I was happy to walk up and down, stand in the middle and look straight down. Speaking of photographers you cannot take or use your own cameras on the Skywalk but you can pay around $90 for one of their packs (cough). Better to go just up the road to Guano point and get better photos using your own gear.
Guano point was spectacular. We had a supplied packed lunch of really nice sandwiches in a picnic area right beside the Canyon and an oddly named Guano Café (funny name or maybe descriptive but glad we bought food from elsewhere). I commented that we have eaten in less stunning spots.
You have plenty of time to wander around, explore and take photos (I clicked about 1500). It was hot but tolerable as temp at Canyon is way less as higher altitude. Regardless in summer make sure you keep a hat on and stay hydrated.
After the canyon we settled in for the long drive back to Vegas. When we were dropped off we thanked Rob very much and were more than happy to give him a good gratuity – he earned it. We are still gasping at the pics and would happily do this tour again.
The sights at the West Rim of the Grand Canyon and Hoover Dam were fantastic! That being said, I wish that our tour guide Chad had been better. He talked, a lot, about how much he dislikes his job and that he’s looking for another one. Whenever he was asked a question he was very condescending with his answers. I had never been to Vegas or the area before, so I had questions. However, whenever I asked a question he made me feel stupid. It wasn’t just me that he did this to. I noticed that every single person on the tour bus stopped commenting after awhile. I can only assume that the others in our group were also afraid that we’d get our heads bit off or made to feel like idiots. We spent well over $300 on this trip and it was the most disappointing part of our visit to Vegas.
