“big build up but dissapointed”
Reviewed June 3, 2013

This place is supposed to be famous for its meatballs as well as its signature chicken dish.
The meatballs were way to soft almost mushy and my dish of shrimp scampi had so much olive in the bottom of the bowl the pasta was swimming in it...way to much oil!
The chicken dish was dry and overcooked.
We had asked for sommelier to recommend a wine for someone in our party who didn't care for our bottle selection and I guess he was too busy as he never came back and our waiter had to handle it.
Very expensive meal and not good memories, try "mon ami gabi" in Paris for a great experience!

“Best Veal Chop outside of Italy”
Reviewed June 3, 2013

We had an absolutely amazing meal at Rao's. It is classic Italian, simple but perfect. The roasted pepper app with pine nuts and raisins was the perfect match for the huge seafood salad. There was a huge amount of perfectly poached crab, lobster, calamari and shrimp. But was made it special was the vinegraitte dressing. The olive oil was the best. It is these simple things that remind me of Italy. The "famous" lemon chicken was good and the spinach side was nicely cooked but both paled next to the veal chop. Most veal in the US is tasteless now, with a mush texture. But Rao's chop is deeply flavorful with a tender moist texture. We asked for it well browned on the outside but rare on the inside and the chef delivered. The cherry pepper sauce was more of a light au jus that added just the right amount of zing. Incredible. The wine list is extensive and the service is wonderful. This was the highlight of our Las Vegas trip.

“Kind of a let-down...”
Reviewed June 2, 2013

We live in NYC but due to the long wait for reservations at Raos here, we decided that trying the Vegas during our trip there would make sense.
Unfortunately, we were pretty much disappointed. We ordered the meatballs, Calamari and chicken scarpariello, and it was all just ok. Nothing great. The meatballs were really just ok, the calamari wasn't really crispy and the chicken scarpariello was on the dry side. As someone who understands Italian food, I was left feeling like Raos Las Vegas is more about the name than anything else.
At some point we may try the NYC location in the hopes that it might be better than its Vegas cousin - But I would not go here again.

“Very good Italian”
Reviewed May 30, 2013

I had a great lunch here on my most recent Vegas trip but I only tried the pizzas. It is not cheap, but priced well for its location. Service was very good.

“Disappointing”
Reviewed May 28, 2013 via mobile

Was really looking to some outstanding food here and left disappointed. Linguini with clams had almost no broth and the clams were dry too. Very attentive service but service doesn't make up for average (at best) food.
