Red Rock Casino Resort & Spa
Ranked #34 of 263 Hotels in Las Vegas
Certificate of Excellence
Reviewed March 22, 2013

The Redrock sits close to Redrock canyon , thus the name. This property boast a movie theatre great bars, sports book ,gambling of course and a great spa. The Views from the rooms are good and some include the strip with others include them red mountains. The spa services are incredible. They are in line with price and you can find package deals online at times that include two nights with two spa treatments.
Great Italian food and a deli by the sports book called the bagel cafe. There is also a food court by the movie theatre.
Music in a bar in the center of the casino.
I think it is a perfect place to stay and play.

Room Tip: If you want a Redrock view make sure to request it.

We booked this at a reduced rate via another website. Once we arrived, the resort fee was 27.99 per night, but the cost was well worth it! The room was extremely clean. The bedding was quite nice and the shower was excellent. The room was fairly spacious and well appointed. We were there mid-week and it was quiet. The staff was accommodating, professional and pleasant. The resort offers a large selection of restaurants for every taste. I prefer staying in the Summerlin area. It is very relaxing and offers great shopping. It's my goal to give all of the resorts in the area a try and decide upon one where we will stay when making a Las Vegas trip. At this point, we would definitely return to the Red Rock.

My spouse had a conference here so we were debating whether to stay here or the strip. Knowing it was way off the strip, but seeing it had relatively good reviews we chose to stay here. Big mistake.

First, the good:
Large rooms
Pretty (but non-functional) bathrooms
Good view of strip from room at night
Lots of chairs and space at pool
Valet friendly and quick
Spa was good, very large
Good bartenders (onyx, lucky, and sandbar)

Next, the bad:
Took lots of complaining and going through several disinterested front desk staff to finally get non-smoking room. We went through three rooms (first one reeked, second one smelled like covered up smoke, third one which we didn't get til day 2 was ok). When you book a non-smoking room under no circumstances do you expect smoking upon checkin. We were not happy about this. We were told the only way to get non-smoking was to pay extra because they didn't have any. I still do not believe this. We had already prepaid for non-smoking. I saw several other people checking in having same disagreements. And overall the front desk staff, even managers, didn't seem to care.
I ordered extra towels, they never came.
Some broken things in bathroom that I called about were not fixed, tv didn't have any working volume, scale was dead, makeup mirror broken.... These are all easy fixes too so why didn't they fix it.
Shower was dirty, walls were icky.
Shower had no temperature control, just freezing or scorching and it would take turning it on and off seeral times to get it to change from one to other. I showered in the spa bc of this. it was also a very gross and small shower head for such a nice looking bathroom, poor water flow.
We called for late check out, were told we could have 1:30. Then the next day we get a call very rudely asking why our stuff was still in the room around 1:00. I said that we had called and were given 1:30 checkout. She said they had no record of that, and that they charged for late checkout and we needed to get our stuff out. When I said he never mentioned a charge, she said, well you can try to work that out with the desk staff, I can't help you. She said she was front desk when she called my cell.... What???
The casino and dining areas reaked. Other casinos on the strip have much better ventilation. Restaurants were also very smokey.
Shuttle barely ran to strip and airport, only every two hours, and only til like 9.

I have to say, a few things were nice, but overall service was horrible and it ruined the stay. I don't know if maybe they think they automatically have conference attendees so they treat them like poop or what, but I will never be patronizing this place again. And I think it's a real shame they are advertised in their catalogue book thing along with such lovely places as Post Ranch Inn and the Grande Del Mar. They need a major service overhaul.

I've been coming to Vegas for years and have stayed at so many places. For those that don't like the strip in Vegas then I would highly recommend the Red Rock. Beautiful views, great pools and super friendly and attentive staff. You have all the amenities of the main strip but also a sense of quiet and relaxation. And the price is spot on.

First the few positives. Beautiful views from the higher floors to the east of the Strip at night and the mountains to the west by day. Rooms and bathrooms are good size and well-appointed – except the loveseat, which was like a park bench and had an unpleasant stain. The bedding is excellent. The pool area is quite inviting and the exterior design of the property attractive. Valet parking was very efficient and friendly/helpful. Red Rock Canyon – its namesake – is not nearby but about 5 miles away. The negatives are many. The property is on the extreme outskirts of Las Vegas – a good 15 miles from the airport – with nothing else except a highway and gated communities nearby. No place to take a walk except along busy streets and a highway. Colleagues complained that the cab fare was $60 each way from the airport, so renting a car makes sense – especially if you want to check out a casino on the Strip or take in a show there. Valet parking is free at the Red Rock (like all the casinos). There is a nice Whole Foods about two miles away but no refrigerator in the room – and a system whereby simply moving any mini-bar item for more than 45 seconds charges it to your room! I waited 15 minutes at check-in and found the front desk staff to be unfriendly and at times curt and rude. The lobby is small and cheap appearing. The casino is lackluster compared to the big places on the Strip but still filled with cigarette smoke. All of the restaurants are strategically located right off the casino floor, making a dose of cigarette smoke an obligation. Overall a mediocre experience.

Room Tip: Upper level room facing either the Strip and its twinkling lights, plus beautiful sunrises, or the m...

We recently travelled with the entire family to Vegas for a weekend visit after staying away for several years. I used to come out with the kids a few years ago and had a nice time but Vegas has definitely shifted their focus much more towards adult entertainment to the point where kids really have no place at any of the hotels on the strip or even walking down the street to look at some of the attractions because of the large numbers of drunken bachelor parties and constant assault of people passing out flyers covered with naked bodies. This time we had to come back and had heard that the Red Rock was fun with kids. We had reserved adjoining rooms and when we arrived were told that none were available and that there were not even any close to each other. This was not an option for us and eventually a manager came out and offered us a suite. We said sure! Turns out our suite was pretty much what you see in movies like The Hangover, minus the tiger. We had a huge light up bar, a DJ booth, two bedrooms complete with round beds, a huge media room, etc. Needless to say the kids were thrilled! To be completely honest it was just a little too weird for me to find comfortable but it was fun for a few days. We also had a regular room with two double beds and this was very nice and comfortable with a spacious bathroom and comfy beds. We ate dinner at the Steak place which was expensive and good. We all had steaks and we have had better ones but it was tasty enough. We also ate at the Sushi place and our food there was excellent. The pool area is fairly basic for Vegas, large pool, fountain in the middle, couple of Jacuzzis. We found chairs easily, didn't eat by the pool but did order cocktails and they were just as ordered and reasonably priced. The property also has a movie theatre and bowling alley. The teens used the bowling alley and had a great time. I think two of them spent about $17.00 for an hour of bowling. The younger kids saw a movie one night and that was a nice break for the adults and so easy having it all on site. For the adults the casino had a nice vibe, not too loud, decorated in a tasteful and not too garish manner and we found lots of $10.00 tables that are hard to come by on The Strip.

The reason I am not giving this hotel four or five stars is because we had numerous issues with service during our stay. The first was the fact that adjoining rooms were not available as mentioned before and the hotel did find a way to work that out for us. Several other members of our group also had issues and some were not resolved as satisfactorily. At the restaurants we had an issue at every meal. Dinner at the steak house: It was my daughter's birthday and we asked for a booth upon making the reservation. They said their booths would not accomodate our group size, I said ok. When we got there it was quite clear that they had many booths that would have accommodated us. I asked if we could have a booth, they said if we wanted to wait we could and then walked off. No information about how long the wait would be, etc. just rude. We ended up at a table, the rest of the meal went fine. Breakfast at the "Grand Cafe" our food was very good but it took FOREVER. They forgot to bring coffee (how could any Vegas waitress do that?), one meal came out five minutes after the others, etc. At the Sushi place: The waiter very aggressively suggested our group do the chef's tasting menu. It was a large group and the end of the table he spoke to first said "no" we'll just order. He went down to the other end of the table and told them that the first group had said yes to the tasting menu. Luckily some of those in the middle of the table overheard and corrected this. The waiter continued to tell us we should order this way as it would be easier for the kitchen but we would still get what we wanted. This went on and on until we finally had to be quite frank in saying we were going to order what we wanted. So weird. Needless to say he was extremely inattentive for the remainder of the meal. The food was amazing though.

There is a small mall across the street from the hotel with many other restaurant options. Some of our group went to the BJ's there and had another very frustrating experience with the service. All in all we enjoyed our trip and would return to the Red Rock if we ever need to be in Vegas again with the family. If we come with just adults we would probably stay at one of the hotels on the strip but we would still consider the Red Rock as we enjoyed the Casino and the other amenities were fairly good.

Room Tip: The view of The Strip at night is very beautiful!
