Can't complain about the South Point. Got in very early on Sunday, July 6th...around 10AM. Front desk said room wouldn't be ready until 11am-12noon. That's expected since check out is noon. So dad and I went for dim sum in Chinatown. Got back to hotel around 1130am. 20 dollar bill got us 19th floor overlooking pool/mountains. Beautiful view. All personnel we came in contact with from dealers, pit bosses and restaurant were very pleasant and helpful. I only with that the weather was more cooperative. For the 6 days we were there, we were only able to go to the pool ONE day. Won't be going to Vegas in the Monsoon season anymore....but will definitely stay at the South Point again. Yes it was crowded as there was a bingo tournament going on, but there is still a homey feel to the place. I always feel great gambling there. Props to Delcio and Sean....blackjack was never more fun. Room service was great too. 5 dollars a day and we got extra towels, shampoo and laundry bags for dirty clothes. Thanks South Point. Had a blast.

Room Tip: Just hand the front desk a 20...and ask nicely for type of room you want.

The Spa facilities at the South Point is absolutely wonderful. The attendants are very friendly and welcoming. You have the option of just using the facilities or making an appointment for services. Men and women facilities are separate but you can schedule a couples massage if you would like. Each shower has a different scent for the shampoo, conditioner, body washer and shaving cream. The lounge is relaxing with TVs and tea. Wonderful place to relax and rejuvenate!

We were able to have free WiFi for our entire 4 day convention in all the meeting rooms. The hotel staff were very attentive toward refilling coffee and snacks in the hallways. They did a great job handing the food refills on the buffet lines, too. Our convention attendees did not pay the "resort tax" of $14 per night.

Oftentimes there was a wait for elevators - or the elevator would arrive on your floor and it was already full. The rooms are large and quiet. The rooms do not have refrigerators or microwaves. There was no makeup mirror and the lighting was difficult for me to be precise with my primping. I stayed 4 nights and they did not provide additional shampoo & conditioner after the initial bottles used up. The pool was packed with screaming kids; it was not enjoyable for adults. The fitness center is open 24 hours, but the times I attempted to work out all the treadmills were full. There is a shuttle for the strip/City Center which cost $8. Unfortunately, the shuttle has more than one stop and then it just sits there for 10 minutes--annoying!. There is a free airport shuttle.

There is a variety of restaurants and the buffet was very affordable. The horse racing betting area was very interesting. I would recommend this hotel as a family resort or for conventions. If it were just a couple's trip or a group of adults, I would look elsewhere.

We stayed at two hotels in LV, the South Point and the Golden Nugget and we by far preferred the South Point. If you are travelling with kids then the South Point is the place to go, it has a great pool with lifeguards, a fantastic arcade and really affordable bowling. The room was large, comfortable and free coffee...oh and free wi-fi.

The only issue we had was that the bath didn't drain properly so when you had a shower you would be standing in an inch or two of water.

I would definitely recommend this hotel to others

I stayed 2 nights with my teenage daughter for a softball tournament. It's been many, many years since I've stayed off strip and I have to say I enjoyed it very much. The hotels is conveniently right off the freeway a couple miles before the strip. Parking is easy in a structure or out front. The hotel is clean, new, nice furnishings, nice bathroom, comfortable beds.

We had a pretty tight schedule so we didn't get to see or experience all the hotel has to offer - restaurants, bowling, shows.... We had Steak n' Shake on the go - which my daughter loves.
The pool area was nice and if it wasn't January and we had more time we would have like to spend some time there. I would like to stay here again someday.

My family stayed at this hotel at the beginning of July and it was outstanding! The weather was a little crazy @ 47C but the hotel was very comfy. I do not remember the name of the gentleman who checked us in, but he was the most professional, friendly and kindest hotel worker we have ever met! Every member of the hotel team was friendly and professional, the casino is small but this is a family oriented hotel away from the strip a little, so that was not a big concern. There is a lot of activities for families to participate in if they choose for minimal fees such as bowling and movies. The buffet was fabulous, verrry cheap with many options. The pool area is great for families. We would definitely stay here again! The room we stayed in was huge with a great view of the Strip!

This is our first time staying off the strip.

South Point is nice. It's a bit dated but well maintained.

Our bed is way hard and sounds like it has a plastic liner under the sheet. The room has a king bed but there were only two pillows (no extras in the closet) but housekeeping brought us some more no problem. There's great hot water and water pressure but we found out while in the shower that housekeeping hadn't left us any shampoo. Housekeeping brought some up but it took a while.

The casino is decent but smells a bit smoky. It was obviously built when smoking was more acceptable.

There are quite a few kids here as it's a bit of a family-oriented venue.

I kinda like being off the strip so I might stay here again. It's certainly a much cheaper alternative than being on the trip ($56 a night for us) but you will need a car or expensive cab if you wanna go anywhere. We rented a car. The on site amenities (bowling, movies, conference, etc.) are great. The pool is a bit shabby. The restaurants are pretty decent.
