It's a decent 4 star , great if your on a budget , kids very welcome , resort fee loads cheaper than strip hotels , great room , free transfer from airport and 8 dollar shuttle to strip , I would defo recommend it if your over nighting on an onward flight or a couple of days chill !

On the map, the hotel looks like not that far away, just south of the McCarran International Airport, but in fact it is further away from the airport than the average distance of a hotel in the strip.

Staying in a hotel in the Strip has the benefit of walking to other hotels, amenities and free outdoor shows such as that at the Treasure Island and Bellagio, and the ease of jumping onto the any one of the two RTC Transit shuttles with an $8 day pass (which runs 24 hours along the boulevard) for unlimited rides northbound all the way through Downtown to the Premium Outlets in the north and southbound through the Strip to the Outlet Center in the south.

At South Point Hotel, which is an island, one is stripped of these benefits. The restaurants are so so, but the hotel customers are held hostage unless they fork out taxi fare or purchase an $8 day pass for the hotel shuttle which runs hourly from 8 am until midnight.

Owing to the remoteness of the hotel, going on local tours is a pain. For the North Rim Air & Ground tour which starts at 6;30 am, pick up time is 4:45 am; and for the West Rim tour which starts at 7:30 am, pick up time is 5.55. We have to go to bed very early the evening before and take a long nap on the morning pick up shuttle. Staying in the Strip would save some valuable morning time.

Thank you for being a guest of the South Point. We are sorry to hear we did not meet your expectations. We are approximately 8.39 miles and 17 minutes based on traffic from McCarran Airport. Your feedback is very important to us and we will forward this on to our management team. We hope this will not deter you from a future visit with us.

Sincerely,
Hotel Operations

Stayed here for the Championship Mounted Shooting event and it was great. The room was very clean and accommodating. The bed and pillows were nice and had in room coffee which I love. The restaurants we ate in were really good. My only complaint was that the arena was COLD. I not talking cool it was really cold and I hadn't anticipated that so used the throw off the bed to stave off the cold in order to watch the event which was awesome.

Room Tip: Our room had no view which didn't matter to me but if it does to you then you should request it.

We arrived a day early for our annual trip with friends. Poor planning on our part resulted in no room reservation for sat. night. Big mistake, the strip was full, luckily we called and got a room at Southpoint. Good value, clean room, next time arrive early we'll just book at Southpoint.

We booked this hotel for one night as we were arriving in Vegas a day earlier than expected. The reviews were pretty good and the rates were as well, so we thought we would give it a shot. Like so many Vegas resorts they make their customers walk the farthest to get to their rooms and there was no exception here. This resort is very big and they do have some unique features, so if you have kids, they may not be a bad place to stay. They even have a bowling alley and theater. As per our room. It was large, but that is all the good we have to say. It was very dated, the curtains were stained, my wife did not want to walk on the carpet bare footed and believe it or not, they had two towels in the bathroom. That's it. More like the kind that a Red Roof Inn would give you. We had a king size bed and they only had two pillows on the bed and no more stored away in any part of the room. I'm not here to bash, just to let you know what our experience was. Will we stay here again? Nope. At checkout we were waiting to have the clerk ask us how our stay was. She didn't. She only asked if we were checking out.

Beware the mandatory resort fee. South point tacked on an additional $150 during our stay for services we did not use like airport shuttles or pool/gym use. When we asked to opt out of these services at check-in, the front desk told us the fee was mandatory even if we did not ever use any of these services. This is surprising since Treasure Island, a much nicer property on the main part of the Strip had no problem waiving the resort fee when we told them we wouldn't be making use of these additional services. And Treasure Island allows use of the pool without the resort fee (you only need to present your room card there).

Room Tip: Ask for a room with an LG tv if you plan on watching. The panasonic tvs are older and too dim to pro...

Thank you for being a guest and for the feedback you provided. We are sorry to hear your stay was not an enjoyable experience due to our resort fee. We announced our resort fee prior to our guests booking by adding signage to the property as well as having that information posted on our website. We are in the process of evaluating new amenities that will be added to our resort fee. We apologize for any inconvenience you experienced and we hope you would reconsider a future visit with us.

This last trip was somewhat of a disappointment. Just got back last night. We didn't get the customer service that we were so accustomed to from the South Point Hotel. We stayed in the 2 Bedroom Suite as we always do. When we arrived we noticed some weird looking objects on the floor in the living room..they looked like nuts/almonds?? And on the door handle there was some dried up tomato?? What is up with that? Also, when housekeeping came they did not do a good job cleaning, and yet I found some more of these strange looking nuts on the floor?? The lady who dropped off the rollaway came knocking at our door. She did not say "hello" or "Welcome to the South Point, here is your rollaway, where would you like it?" Instead, she walks right in, and pushes it into the living room, and just drops off the pillow and comforter and walks right out! Never a peep out of her!! The people who work in the casino looked like they were all super grouchy this time, I mean what happened South Point?? Employee morale must be down or what? The only nice lady we came across was named "Cooky" over at the Oyster Bar. She was sweet and very friendly. Something needs to be fixed here South Point.

Room Tip: Love the suites, if they are cleaned well.
