We go to Las Vegas each November in connection with the West Coast Pipe Show, a convention of tobacco pipe collectors. In 2010 and 2011, we stayed at the host hotel, the Palace Station on Sahara at Interstate 15. Although the Palace Station had the advantage of allowing us to walk to the meeting room where the show is conducted, we felt we weren't getting commensurate value for our room rate. So, we decided to look elsewhere and finally selected the South Point last November. My wife and her girl friends had stayed there previously and enjoyed their stay there, so it was a known commodity to my wife at least. Best of all, it was less expensive than the Palace Station and, in any event, offered more value even if the rate had been identical to the Palace Station. To say the hotel is VAST would be an understatement! It was a loooong walk from the parking lot to the lobby and hotel elevators. But there was a plethora of restaurants to choose from (we ate there each night) and there was a movie theater that we attended as well. The staff was friendly and helpful, which was needed given our unfamiliarity with the layout of the hotel. We are now confirmed fans of the hotel and have already booked our room for this coming November's pipe show, utilizing a special rate which didn't even require prepayment.

We stayed here one night on our way back from California. Knew it was on Las Vegas Blvd, but not by other hotels which suited our plans fine. Nice rooms, comfortable beds, great service, nice variety of restaurants. Well worth the price.

First stay at a Vegas hotel. Interesting experience. This hotel is HUGE but it seems small by Vegas standards. It's a looooooong walk through the smokey casino to get to the elevator. The room itself was massive and very clean. The sign at registration warns of an additional $14 "resort fee" for Wifi, etc, so add that to your room cost (it doesn't matter if you don't use Wifi, etc).

Not extravagant like other Vegas hotels but clean. Casino was as good as others. Not close to the other hotels so cab fares should be part of your budget. The pool is beautiful. Overall it was a fun casino.

A little late but had to add.. We travel to Vegas several times a year for fun and to visit family. We went a few weeks ago the last time. We usually stay at the South Point hotel when we go. We’ve stayed at several hotels on and off the strip but with children we always go back to the South Point.
They have great entertainment options for everyone with a bowling alley, movie theatre and kids zone. The Pool area is nice and my kids like their snacks there. The rooms are a good size, clean and a great price. We usually don’t have a long wait checking in but we do go usually for 3 day weekends.
There buffet is good but we’ve only been there for brunch.
The one drawback is that it is not within walking distance to the other hotels on the main strip so if you want to be in the middle of the action it may not be for you. If you don’t mind, their shuttle works great. This is a great value hotel for families.

Haven't been to South Point for a while, but now I'm wondering why. Yes, the line was long checking in, but it moved very quickly. The interior of the casino is clean and the ventilation keeps things from not smelling very smoky.

The crowd here is always very diverse, but it's one of things I like about it. If you are a people watcher, you'll love it!

Our room was amazing! Super clean, large room, nicely appointed, and was really quiet.

There are enough things to do in this huge casino/hotel that it can easily be a destination.

Room Tip: Every time I've stayed here the rooms have been great. If you want one with a view, you need to...

Great place to stay with lots to do. My husband and I were extremely impressed with the cleanliness of our room and pool area. This is the place to be if you have kids with you in Vegas. Of course everything costs extra, but hey, it's Vegas! Bowling, movie theater, pool, and arcade..... The variety of food choices is good also and the Coronodo Restaurant has great service, food, and prices. We ended up eating most of our meals there. The price to stay at this hotel is very affordable.
