Be forewarned...if you eat at the cafe for the late night special they charge the same amount for what ever drink you get as the cost of the meal. We had a 3.75 and a 2.95 breakfast and the coffee and juice was 2.95 and 3.75 also. Not inexpensive!!! Bill came to just under 15.00! The cashier told me that it is because the food price is reduced they up the drink prices...we will not be back!!!

We got South Point through Priceline and still had to pay an additional $14/night at the hotel, whether or not I used their amenities. Bummer, I thought this stay was pre-paid like every other Priceline hotel I had ever booked. Later to find out, many Vegas hotels now charge a mandatory resort fee. Shady. Upon arrival, the hotel was beautifully lit up on the outside, but inside, the slot machines welcomed us, and it felt like walking into an arcade/bowling alley rather than walking into a glamorous 4-star resort lobby. By the next day, though, we were pretty used to the environment. Again though, it seems somewhat common for Vegas hotels to have tons of slots in their lobbies.

The pool was very resort-like and relaxing, had nice music, and was beautiful at nighttime. Room was appealing, clean, sizable, and comfortable. The restaurants were very affordable. We enjoyed Steak'n Shake ($3.99 burger/fries lunch), Baja Miguel's fajitas + free virgin margarita (with coupon book the hotel gave us), and the breakfast buffet (Under $4 pp when we used our coupon books the hotel gave us). We intended to go to one of their fancier restaurants as well, just didn't get around to it, we were having too much fun! Fortunately, this place is NOT very smokey or smelly, even the casino area wasn't bad. We also really enjoyed the on-sight entertainment comedian, Heather McDonalad (only $15pp), and enjoyed being able to explore the equestrian center and go to a movie, all on sight. We enjoyed the strip more than anticipated, and went there two nights. The hotel's airport shuttle (free) and strip shuttle ($8 for entire day) were convenient. The hotel is well kept-up, but still could use a renovation, particularly in the buffet and casino-lobby area. Overall, we really enjoyed our stay and only met other travelers who loved it there as well.

My husband and I have been going to Vegas for the last 15 years,we go at least twice a year. We stayed at the South Point the first year it opened, and were so impressed it has been our hotel of choice every time we go, BUT for the last year we have starting going elsewhere. When we go to Vegas we go to gamble, in all the years and numerous stays at South Point we have never been comped a room or anything else, only given discounted rooms. We on occasion would drive down on the strip and gamble now and then. In doing so I now have free rooms all over Vegas, that being said we will no longer be staying at the South Point, with the added 14 dollars a day resort fee, for things I do not use is crazy, when it was an option to pay an extra 10 dollars a day if you wanted internet or to use the gym that was fine, but to now make it mandatory is absurd, plus staying other places for free they wave the resort fee. The rooms are starting to show their age, need better pillows and more of them. Cocktail service is not what it use to be. I love the primarily prime rib and when we are in Vegas we do go there and eat, and then leave. We will be in Vegas for 9 days in July 2013 for our summer trip, but sorry South Point you lost a customer.

Just 2 nights here again this year, would have liked longer but had our son and his friend with us who wanted to be right on the strip. Enjoyed our stay here as in previous times. Good rooms and bathrooms, clean and well kept. Pool never seems crowded, so chairs easy to get. Towels are good as well, unlike Mandalay Bay (which we moved on to) which were nasty looking things, thin and grey looking.
Ate at the buffet only this year (using the coupon from the fun book given at check in). Nothing exciting here but cheap, so you can't expect too much. For the money it's good but don't expect upscale dining and you won't be disapointed.

Room Tip: Mid level or higher

Overall loved the resort. A true gem off the strip but close enough that if one wanted to be in the meets of the chaos, it would be easy.

The pool area was great, the rooms were large and comfortable, though I wish they had refrigerators Rome least coolers in them. However free wireless was great. The resort has a lot of restaurants and the 4 we at we're all good, including the buffet. Zenshin had great food and service, Primarily Prime Rib was very good as was the burger joint. I enjoy the casino at the SP because itnhas a local feel to it. Looking forward to my next visit.

This is a great hotel even though is not in the Strip (about 5 miles) and you can´t walk to any attraction near by. You need a car to move to the Strip and other places. Mine was a couple trip but i think that this is a very good option for families. Very good price for this hotel. Sapacious rooms and friendly staff that serves you very well. very complete buffets with a very good price

Room Tip: high floor with mountain view
