“works well for kids”
Reviewed April 10, 2013

We use Las Vegas as an entry portal for grandkids on nonstop flights as unaccompanied minors. South Point works well with easy access for McCarren airport, clean public areas and rooms and potential activities that will interest kids. A bowling alley, multi-screen theatre, and frequent horse events add to keeping them interested.
More for the adults along, Southpoint also has one of the best mexican restaurants we have found in Las Vegas with a friendly staff, reasonable pricing, and promptly served orders.

A hotel.casino that is south of the strip by several miles. It should not be missed. Very new by comparisons of the area. Maintained like new in spite of the fact it is 7-8 years old. Clean, friendly and a great buffet.
Amenities are great and the rooms we had were as great as the food. Very fairly priced too. This is where we will be staying the next time we come to this area.
The gaming area is well equiped with machines and tables that satify most fiolks needs. Machines work well and and have clear screens too. Overall, fresh air free of smokers residues..

We've stayed at the South Point twice now and it's been a wonderful experience. The room was huge, clean, fresh. It's nice that it's away from the craziness of the strip (Spring break was in full bloom this last time we stayed). It's peaceful, parking is easy and I thought the slot machines were generous. :) It could maybe use some new restaurants but we had excellent food at both Baja Miguel and Primarily Prime Rib. I think it's only a mile or so from Mandalay Bay so a short jaunt if you want to take in all the excitement of the strip. They have a shuttle you can take as well. If you want to stay somewhere where it's a little more quiet, this is the place for you.

We had a mid level room and it was very nice. We asked for two more pillows and they arrived with no fuss. We had a coffee maker in the room, which is getting hard to find in Vegas. House keeping was nice enough to leave us extra coffee packs when we asked for them. The room was clean and had a lot of room to move around. We were on the 16th floor and had a excellent wi-fi signal. All of our devices had no issues using it. The restaurants offer a large variety of food.We tried five of them, they were all ok. There is also a Seattle coffee stand and a ice cream stand by the entrance. There is a large variety of older and newer slot machines. The pool and hot tub area are very nice. I think for the price, it's one of the better choices to stay at in Vegas. It is a long way from the strip though. It's about a $25 cab ride to the South end of the strip. There is a bus that runs to 3 stops on the strip for $8 round trip. They also have a airport shuttle. We shared a rental car with a couple that we went with. It definitely caters to the older crowd, but that's not a bad thing if you are a part of it!

Room Tip: Get a higher room with a view. It's worth the extra money!

This is my third stay here from Australia, my first introduction to South Point was due to attending a conference a couple of years ago. I have stayed at various hotels on 'the strip', which were quite nice also, but South Point offers a little more in personal attention, the rooms are a superb size, very clean, and lovely bathrooms. Also, as a horse person I appreciated the 'horsey' decor associated with having a large equestrian arena etc. The very affordable shuttle bus or 'normal' bus can take you to the strip every day and most of the night on a regular basis. I will never stay in 'Vegas' at another hotel again!. The hotel buffet breakfast has a massive selection of food, well over 100 different dishes, for around $7.95, lunch and dinner is a couple of dollars more, but excellent value for those on a budget.

Room Tip: All rooms I have had are good. This time we had lots of screaming kids next door, and security quic...

I stayed at the South Point Hotel for convenience as it was the location of a convention that I attended. I was very happy with the cleanliness and size of the room. My only complaints about the room were that the carpet was a bit tired and the television and alarm clock provided did not work properly. I did not have time to check out the amenities of the hotel. While others write that they like that the hotel is isolated and off the main Las Vegas strip, I found the isolation to be very limiting. Specifically, without a car I was a prisoner to the very over-priced, mediocre restaurants. After my husband arrived with a car, I was happier with the hotel, as parking was free and convenient, and I was no longer forced to eat at the hotel restaurants.

South Point Hotel, Casino, and Spa is easy to access, on the strip south of the highly crowded few blocks. A wonderful variety of activities are available under one roof - casino, 9 restaurants, show room, bars & lounges, pool, large hot tub area, movie theaters, bowling alley, and equestrian center. The air handling system works very well to keep the smoke from getting heavy and operates room air conditioning quietly. Beds are comfy. The rooms and public areas are clean. Shuttles are available to other areas of the strip on a regular basis. The affordable pricing is good for those of us who don't have big budgets. We have stayed there twice and enjoyed it immensely.
