“Cheap rooms, not far from the strip”
Reviewed July 2, 2012

I got a room for $50 on a weeknight and was pleasantly surprised. I normally stay at major strip hotels, but stayed at the South Point on a trip with my parents. They've raved aboutt his place so I tried it with them. The hotel is clean and well appointed. The room is a great size, but has no mini bar or refrigerator and the pillows were incredibly uncomfortable. The casino could use more tables and less slots. They have a bowling alley and a movie theater. The spa looked nice, but the prices were a little too Vegas for me (they were typical of a strip hotel spa - I expected a better deal at South Point).

The majority of the clientele are people 55 and over and families. I can see why families like it here: it's affordable and there are lots of things for kids to do. The pool was clean and cool on a 110 degree day and there were plenty of lounge chairs.

We ate at the deli which had surprisingly good pastrami, and their prime rib restaurant which was a great value. I did take my parents to a strip hotel to enjoy their bar as the South Point bars are all in the middle of the casino and are lacking in ambiance. The biggest downside to this place is that you have to drive or take a taxi to the strip. They do have a shuttle you can pay $8/day to use that will take you there, but again, it's a drive. However, for most people, I think the big draw to the South Point is the fact that it is affordable and that you don't HAVE to leave if you don't want to.

I was very pleased with the service at the front desk, they were so friendly when we wanted to check in hours early!

About 5 years ago we started looking for a extra nice hotel on the strip but not "in" the strip. South Point has exceeded in all areas. Look forward to returning for Natl Finals in Dec.

This place has it all. You don't have to leave to do anything, it's all right here. Movie theater, Bowling alley and 9 different restaurants besides all the great gambling. I will definitely come back here and recommend it to anybody. This place is great for families of all ages.

Reserved for a good price on Priceline for our last night in the area. My husband became been ill during our trip and needed to just go to bed. Upon check in I upgraded to a upper floor so he could go to sleep. Receptionist was very accommodating. I had dinner inside hotel at BajaMicaels (sp?). It was very good also. Good location to the airport, a few miles from the strip.

Room Tip: The upper floor, 24, was very quiet.

The hotel was flexible. They let us come a day early and stay a day late, but Friday night was $100.00. Very nice room with a good amount of space. I was near the elevators and didn't hear much noise. The beds were very comfortable. I don't like the "rain" type shower heads and the bathtub was small. My i-pod did not work on thier radio, but I never did call housekeeping to fix it. The buffet was a good deal, but be sure and get a club card. No view, looked over the top of the casino and we thought we would have a little view of the strip, but lights on outside of hotel prevented it. The deli look pricey, but you get huge portions. We really like the hot tub. I would stay again.
