We were very pleased with the Grand Chateau after our first stay there. We have stayed at many other LV properties on the strip, and while some properties were as nice, none of the others offered a full kitchen.
We rented a one-bedroom suite and were surprised at how roomy and clean it was. Actually huge in comparison to most hotel rooms. Two large LG HD TVs that were connected to satellite TV, so lots of HD channels, including several HBO & Showtime channels. The bed wasn't overly large, but it was very comfy. Huge steeping tub with a separate shower that had two shower heads. Two bathroom sinks, one adjacent to the make-up area next to the tub--NICE! The kitchen was well equipped and had a big coffee pot--YAY! However, bring your own coffee if you like dark roast, as the small complimentary bag of coffee (1 pot) was bitter and not too tasty. You can get milk and other goodies at the mini-mart downstairs.
The staff were very friendly and helpful and didn't pester us about attending the Vacation Club sales pitch. That was a relief. The added security was appreciated since we were there during the Boston Marathon bombing.
The location was perfect for us. There are lots of restaurants & stores right across the street at the Planet Hollywood, but many of the restaurants don't open for breakfast until 8:00 am. The Cosmo, Aria, Paris and Bellagio are only a short walk away, providing even a greater variety of places to eat and shop.
The complimentary valet parking was quick and painless, but I really prefer to park my own car. OTOH, the garage looked to be a challenge (nightmare?), which may be the reason one can't park their own car. Not a big deal.
The pool area on the roof was closed due to high winds for the entire time we were there, which was a disappointment but understandable. It was also pretty cool.
We weren't bothered by any construction noise, but that may change as the third tower goes up. Right now they are still working on the foundation for the tower--over 20 floors below our room. We could easily see the ongoing construction, but only heard a couple of bangs mid-day.
One note of advice: Be sure to reserve the room you want (city view, etc.) as we were told that rooms cannot be changed or upgraded once you arrive, as the Vacation Club properties operate under different rules than regular Marriott hotels and don't allow room changes unless there's a major problem with a room that can't be fixed. Not a big deal, but something to consider, especially as construction continues.
It was so nice to not have to pay a "resort fee", and as long as we aren't bothered by construction noises, we will very likely stay at this property again. We highly recommend it for folks who would prefer a luxury condo hotel experience without the typical Vegas casino scene.
