I arrived at the Las Vegas airport late at night at the end of a long day of traveling. All I wanted was a room where I could sleep and shower, so without giving much though to it, I booked at Hotel Galaxy. The location seemed convenient, and the price was compelling.
After check-in, I proceeded to my room and discovered that there were no towels to be found. I returned to the front desk and procured two towels before finally being able to take a shower. Unfortunately, (and this is the first time I've experienced such an issue) the water pressure from the showerhead was much too high, and it felt like I was being blasted by a firehose. The drain was ineffective and the tub soon filled with water.
The towels were thin and scratchy. After my shower, I began noticing small insects here and there throughout the room. There were burn holes in the blanket, the floor, and extraordinarily, the walls. The room itself was rather unattractive, with a broken lampshade, deteriorating chair, and a large electrical box with unsightly cables and wires running to and fro.
There were also no comforts like a coffee maker, or even cups; I had to drink water from the bathtub tap since the sink faucet only produced scalding hot water. Then there were smaller inconveniences, such as the dirty state of the room. A blackened toenail lay on the floor of the bathroom next to the tub. I tried not to look at it.
Overall, my stay at Hotel Galaxy was unpleasant and, at times, humiliating. I would suggest not staying anywhere on Dean Martin Drive. If you want to enjoy your time in Vegas, I recommend spending a little more to get a nicer room in a better location. Hotel Galaxy did not offer anything enjoyable and I can't recommend it.
