Recently opened, Dishes, at the TI should quickly shot to top place in the local buffet ratings. It continues the same trend as recently seen at Cravings in the Mirage of preparing most food fresh at the "cooking stations" scattered around the dining area. The selection was not as large, but the quality was excellent, and the choices were far enough from the usual buffet fare to make it very interesting. "Dishes" seems to be the end result of a gradual evolution to fresh preparation, and unlike their predecessors, they have gotten it "right".

Everything else is also "right". The waitstaff was excellent, in fact the finest I have seen at a buffet. (I left a twenty percent tip... at a buffet! This was a first for me. I also hunted down the manager to mention how impressed I was, also a first). The other thing that sets it apart is that the dining area is not the usual cavernous room, but has tables with a degree of intimacy. Excellent food, excellent seating, excellent staff. I highly recommend a visit.

Hey all! Just wanted to give you all the heads up about the Treasure Island Buffet. In the past, it has been great buffet with three rooms of food. Currently, they are undergoing some renovations which has decreased not only the size of the dining area but also decreased the amount and quality of the food. The food overall is ok just not as great as it used to be. Apparently, the buffet will be closing down this summer to complete the renovation and will reopen by December. Hopefully then, it will be back to being the great buffet I always made sure to make a stop at, if not better.

Until the remodeling has been completed, I strongly advise all travelers to temporarily avoid this buffet for you won't get your money's worth. For a couple dollars more, I suggest you go next door to the Mirage and try their new Cravings buffet. Not only is it huge but it's the most awesome selection of food on the strip!
