My husband took me there for my birthday. It was a pleasant change from the chaos and crowds of the strip. The ambience is somewhat old-fashioned but very nice. The food was wonderful, but be warned--prime rib is about all you can get for an entree. The service was impeccable.

Lawry’s Prime Rib - Prime Rib At It's Best

First, if you don’t like prime rib; Really like prime rib, don’t go here. This restaurant is for meat eaters; carnivores of the highest level. So you grass eating vegetarians, stay away you’ll hate it.
My first experience with Lawry’s was in Chicago, and it soon became one of my favorite places to dine for special occasions. Having been a steak lover since birth, Lawry’s was a natural for me. The Lawry’s in Vegas is just a few blocks off the Strip, and quick and easy cab ride.
The ambiance is that of an opulent steakhouse, with dark woods and conservative prints. If you have to wait for your table, the bar has some of the best freshly made potato chips you’ll ever have. Don’t load up on them (I know it will be hard), because you want to save yourself for the main course.
Once seated, the servers, adorning English beefeater themed dresses, will introduce you to the Lawry’s system, and ask if anyone wants any main course other than prime rib. They ask that, because, the menu is mainly prime rib (5 options) and how much of it you want. There are several fish / fowl options for those wanting something other than prime rib. You will see chefs with medals hanging around their necks, pushing large pewter carts around the dining room. For Lawry’s newbies, the first time they see the chef’s open one of these pewter carts is something you don’t soon forget… Two large beautiful sides of prime rib, from which the chef will hand-cut your meal right in front of you.
But before we get there, first are any appetizers, bread, and the famous Lawry’s spinning salad, with their own very tasty salad dressing. The server will put a large metal bowl of lettuce in a larger bowl of ice, and then will spin the salad bowl, and carefully hold the dressing above, and as it pours, it self-distributes itself on the salad.
The main course: You eagerly await for the chef to pull that pewter cart to your table, and as they approach, the server will ask for your cut size, from small slices (California cut) similar to roast beef. To the Jim Brady Cut, a large bone-in piece of prime rib. You will have two side options, and you can’t miss the creamed corn which is amazing. The creamed spinach is not a bad option either. You will get bread pudding to dip in the au-jus as well. Prime rib done wonderfully. Lawry’s may not necessarily be the absolute best prime rib in the world, but it’s always extremely good, and a treat for those who indulge themselves as meat-eaters.

Why anyone would come here is a mystery to me.
There are no appetizers other than a shrimp cocktail (How exciting!)

In a town with fabulous steak houses, there are so many other options. Emeril's Delmonico and Batali's Carnevino at the Venetian, Nero's at Caesars, Prime at Bellagio, Galagher's at New York New York, NINE at The Palms, Craft at MGM, Rotisserie at Paris, Alan Alberts and Rosewood Grill and many others.

The big difference is that these places have better sides, better food, better service and better atmosphere.

There is no reason to go there whatsoever. It's about as exciting as going to the corner resaturant, the one that says EATS in neon.
