We should preface this review by saying that we had just come from the Villas at Kierland in Scottsdale, which are the gold standard for time-share living. Nonetheless...

The check in was not very warm or welcoming; their biggest concern was ensuring that we would attend the time share presentation. They offered us free breakfast at the South Point buffet, and $100 in vouchers for South Point. They also promised no time commitment. Keep this in mind when agreeing to do the presentation.

We went to our room in building 2, "Primrose", on the 5th floor in unit A. Upon exiting the elevator, we noticed a new carpeting / paint smell. It was bad, but it paled in comparison to the chemical onslaught we received when we entered the room. Our eyes burned, our noses ran, and we felt ill. We opened the windows, found the fan, and called for something to be done. The operator sent someone to spray the room...great, more chemicals! She did call back as she offered to move us if the situation wasn't remedied, and if they could find an available room, but after 6 hours of driving, we decided to stay put. Then saw that the TVs were from the 80s, the decor was awful, and each of the cupboards smelled rank. So, we lived out of our suitcases and left things out on the counters in the kitchen. The shower looked like it would be awful, but wasn't too bad...until the 2nd day when you were standing in ankle deep water within 2 minutes. The dishwasher didn't drain properly the first night, but someone came when I called and the situation was remedied. The dishwasher was also missing a wheel (which I found on the floor by the sink the morning we left) on the bottom rack which made it so fun to load and unload (sarcasm). And there was duct tape holding the microwave vent in place. Nice touch.

We cannot emphasize this enough: demand a renovated room. It seems they are ignoring the upkeep on the rooms that are due for renovation.

In the morning, we did the timeshare presentation. It wasn't our first ride in this rodeo, having sat through many of these, but I must say the relentlessness with which they pursued our money was unnerving. The deals are expensive, especially since you could buy from a re-seller at half the price, yet it seemed that the sales push was never ending, with each deal getting better and better (beware the NASCAR pitch). We remembered the no time commitment? If you want your incentives, you must sit through it. 3.5 hours with our sons in tow, because the initial salesperson forgot about the supervised kids play area. The sales people just didn't get it. We were so disappointed with our initial impression, why in the hell would we want to own there? Three separate people tried to sell us on Grandview, including the final survey person. Then you must sit for another half-an-hour to get your vouchers.

Were there positives about the Grandview? Well, if you have a car, it's close enough to the strip, and there is enough free parking on the strip, to make it a viable location. And South Point isn't bad, if you want to gamble. We used our vouchers for Steak and Shake, which is cheap and decent, and for the buffet for Monday night steak night. The buffet is... meh.

Obviously, we will never use our RCI points to stay here again. There are other options, and we will try them first. The biggest disappointment was with the service, and lack of concern for our complaints. No manager came to actually check the room, or to talk to us. This must be remedied.

We just visited Las Vegas and stayed at the Grand View using our time share.

The room was really nice- and very clean. Our room had a full kitchen, living room, dining area, bathroom, king size bed, 2 flat screens and jacuzzi.

I never used a time share before and went with family who were able to get us a unit-so I can't really compare it to another.

The room was cleaned once a week (wednesday) and there was a washer and dryer provided. We did call two days in for new towels which were brought to us without any problems.

It's in a great location, not far from the strip and you can see the M Resort from the window. The grounds were very pretty and the South Point Casino is right on the property. We didn't use the pool, but from the window it looked to be decent enough. Nothing 'grand' but I didn't explore the area to see if there was more to it then the view we had from the window.

We were able to drive to downtown, the Las Vegas Strip, M Resort, and various attractions in no time at all.

My only complaint- thin walls. You can hear everything going on in the next room- conversations and loud tv's could be heard and you cannot use your jacuzzi past 8pm, due to the sound of the jets and disturbing your neighbors- I guess they know their walls are thin too, LoL...

Def a nice place to stay and look into.

The place is more than a hotel! I stayed here for just two days and I wish we could have stayed for longer. Property is very beautifully designed and looked new. From check in to departure, the services of the staff were great. Food was delicious and Breakfast was one of the finest I ever had at any place. I just loved my room and everything out there. I would not hesitate to recommend this place to all my friends and family members.

We recently stayed at the Grandview while traveling to Las Vegas for the Mountain West Basketball tourney. Haveing the appartments (one door with a lockout to two entire one bedroom appartments fully furnished) is very convient if you are staying in Las Vegas for a week as we did. It is nice to be able to make coffee and breakfast in the full kitchen before heading out for the day. You have to get accustomed to the thermostat to get the temp just right and the first night I was too cold. The duvet is slippery satiny and kept sliding off. There is a full sized jacuzzi tub in the room next to the bedroom and a large bathroom with walk in shower. The amenities are scarce and cheap but most people that stay here probably bring their own shampoo and stuff. Plenty of towels...Yea! The hot tub in our area was always well used and very friendly. There were some spring break young men there who were obviously partying hearty as well as some NASCAR fans, but everyone was mostly respectful. About the TVs: there were 2 in each appartment and they are the old style tube TVs, not flat screen and of course no HD. Channel selection is limited and I missed not being able to see TENNIS from Indian Wells as well as CBS Sports coverage of basketball games we did not attend. No excuse for antiquated TVs and channel selections. We had a problem with the remote control but someone was in our room in 5 minutes to fix it. We also had trouble accessing the in room safe when we first tried to as someone had locked it when they checked out and we needed someone to open it so we could set our code. 2 workers came together within 30 minutes and reprogrammed the safe, they were professional and left the room when my husband was setting the code so there was no uneasiness with security. The location is way south and if you want to go the strip you have to drive or take the shuttle. The shuttle is $8 per person per day; when we stayed her five years ago I'm sure it was free of charge to guests, but no more. So if you are going to be having cocktails you will probably want to take the shuttle or a cab to be safe. Check in was easy and we didn't get haranged to go to a timeshare presentation. There is no wifi unless you want to pay and if you read other reviews you will see that it is spotty. I didn't know there was free wifi in the computer room, but I want to use it in my apartment! I did not buy access to the wifi and instead bought a data plan for the iPad. It was cheaper in the long run to do that than pay for iffy wifi. So with those things in mind, you will have a nice time there, the hot tubs are nice as are the pools and the people are nice. Just be warned that you are way south of the action on the strip. The casino next door, South Point, has a very good sports book and horse racing set up and the "Del Mar Deli" is very good and aims to please. Be sure and use your coupons that the Grand View gives you to use at the casino...little things add up!

Room Tip: Ask for an apartment with no one above you, we were disturbed by the jacuzzi tub late in the night a...

Thank you for taking the time to post such a thorough review. We’re glad that you enjoyed your vacation and we appreciate the feedback on your accommodations. We’re sorry for the issues you had with the remote and safe and are thankful to know that our maintenance department was able to assist you quickly. Just got back from a weeks worth using family gift certificate. Excellent property. We stayed in the daisy building (1502a) and it was very clean and well equipped. Personally would have preferred scrub brush and tea towel of sorts vs just paper towel, but minor detail. No problems with the apartment. Garbarator plugged (my bad, spaghetti incident) - called in the morning, fixed once I returned from the day. Noise was minimal - light hum of highway. Did find the AC annoying as it would turn on and off every 5 minutes in the morning, but solved that by dropping it to 65 in the evening, get it nice and cold, then turn off for the night (or even put it to 73 or 74). I imagine in the summer, this trick would be harder. Beds...actually more comfortable than mine at home! The sofa bed was the standard deal so don't expect luxury there, but my son didn't complain.

Food - the store/deli was the best we have seen for a timeshare - fully equipped to order every meal if you wanted it and enough basic groceries to get started. Great gym - pool areas were sufficient - I have been to better closer to the strip, but my 11 year didn't seem to care. The high towers did mean the main pool loses the sun by 4pm, but you can still tan up to about 5:30 if you wanted. I think the other pool areas are a little worse off though. Also great exercise/weight rooms. Staff were great and friendly (I 'guess' as a gift, vs just a drop in reservation, we don't get asked for timeshare presentation - that turns many off. Never had to sit through one though).

Definitely get a car - I wouldn't rely on the transportation available there - it is 8 minutes to home from Mandalay once you are on the freeway - no problem at all to get right into the action. Definitely recommend this location (keep in mind, 7th time in Vegas though so, been there, done that - if its your first time, maybe you prefer to be right in the middle of the action, but you can get your gamble fix a 5 minutes walk away at South Point anyway if that is all you need!)

Room Tip: Daisy & Rosemary the newest, but Rosemary is closer to freeway and further from main pool - keep...

We are RCI members and traded for a week. The attraction is the trade allowed for one entrance into two separate units. Our two couple group was able to stay in our own 1 bedroom, 1 bathroom with a full kitchen unit in complete privacy. These units are large, comfortable, well appointed, clean and fully stocked. Check in was easy. There are beautiful pools, hot tubs and grounds. The resort is appx 6 miles from the MGM Grand but we had a car and the drive was not a problem. The convenience of being close enough to the strip without the traffic and noise was very nice. If we go back to Las Vegas, we would definitely stay here again.

Thank you for your 5-star recommendation! We’re happy to hear that you and your friends enjoyed your accommodations at The Grandview at Las Vegas. The Vacation Village Resort’s unit layout you described is unique because it features A & B style suites that have a common foyer with separate locks for each suite. This unique combination is very popular with our timeshare owners because it offers luxurious rooms with maximum privacy for larger parties. Thank you again for taking the time to share your experience and we look forward to seeing you in the future at The Grandview.

We took advantage of a friend's unused timeshare to stay at the Grandview. The check-in process was terrible. Despite numerous calls confirming our reservation under the timeshare owner, there was tremendous confusion when we arrived. Our check-in was delayed over an hour while the owner contacted the corporate group, which then contacted the Grandview. However, that frustration was lessened by the amazing rooms. We had a two bedroom unit. These units share a common door that divides off into two separate, secure spaces. Each unit had a living area, bedroom, bathroom, and kitchen. My absolute favorite - each had an apartment sized washer and dryer. Sounds crazy, but after a week and with very little fuss, I was able to bring home all clean clothes for our family! The kitchens were generously apportioned, with a full sized stove/oven, dishwasher, and refrigerator. An extensive collection of equipment and dishes was provided. Our toddler found very quickly the drawer full of knives and we relocated them immediately (scared us to death - wish we would have thought to look first). The living area was well furnished, with adequate seating areas and new furniture. The bed was a comfortable king, in a nicely sized bedroom with an impressive amount of storage. The huge jacuzzi tube is located between the bathroom and bedroom. After a long day of walking the strip, this was a treasure. The bathroom was excessively large, with a nice 2 sink vanity. We loved the location. It is only a fifteen minute drive to the strip, but you definitely want to have a vehicle. It is conveniently located near a Wal-Mart for groceries and supplies. I would recommend a pack of Windex wipes for the glass table and glass end table, they show smudges and fingerprints. All other housekeeping supplies are supplied. Along the route to the strip are several fast food restaurants. We also enjoyed the convenience of the Southpoint Casino. I should also mention that we drove our RV to the Grandview. We were met in the parking lot by a very nice security gentleman that showed us where we could park our RV and transported us to the office. We checked on our RV several times during our stay and on the very last afternoon found that the gas tank had been opened and the gas removed. We were disappointed, but learned a valuable lesson about locking gas caps.
