first time back in 4 or 5 years. Now I remember why. Had to ask 3 different people for water and tea. Table filled with dim sum containers and couldn't get anything to drink. I ordered a cup of won ton soup and got a bowl of long shreds of cabbage (too long for the spoon) in water with 3 wontons filled with gristle. Also found hunks of gristle in 2 of 4 shu mai that was inedible. char shu bow was ok but not as good as others we have found. Fried chive dumplings were good but had whole shrimp in them. There is a thin line between rustic and lazy. I think this line was crossed. Ordered muffin that has always come filled with custard. No custard. We asked lady on the cart about it and she said "later cart" and that is where we stood when we left. The noise level is very loud. I don't think the customers are louder here than other places but the accoustics are just bad. Price wise, it is more than some and less than some. May try it again in another 4 or 5 years. Maybe not.

My husband and I visited the restaurant on a Monday afternoon for a late lunch. We were seated in the back of the restaurant with a higher view of an apartment complex. We were immediately given a pot of hot tea with cups. Staff come to our table with a cart of food (baked goods, etc) for our selection. A second cart with steamed items was then brought over. My husband asked for a soda and was brought a can of Coca-Cola and a glass of ice; there is no fountain soda. The food was average. Staff did their best to be cordial and helpful. The dividers were very dusty, and the clear glass separating dining areas needed to be wiped. Also, there is visible supplies, papers, etc., that could be moved out rather than placed in areas where customers can see.

We drove up and down Chinatown looking for a cantonese restaurant. We found Cathay House. We ordered off the regular menu going with old standards, shrimp chow mein, shrimp egg foo yung, and moo shu pork. It was delicious. The egg foo yung was different than we were used to, but full of fresh veggies and shrimp. We will return.

This place is always wonderful great Dim Sum and amazing regular menu items, we wanted Honey Walnut Shrimp it was not on the menu but they made it for us, and it was by far the best I have ever had, the bbq buns were awesome but everything was great its almost as good as Koi Palace in Cali, but not quite there yet.

We ordered food for a party of 12 in a table, the food -- mostly dimsum, some fried rice, etc. -- was so-so, not what we'd call good Chinese food. To top their below average food, the waiter who waited on us was rude! "Accidentally" spilled liquid on one of our family members, conversed rudely and unprofessional when we tried to get additional bowls for the rice and soup, and additional food orders. This is not the service that we're expecting in a restaurant we've read good reviews on.
